Chapter 101: | 101 | War For Liberation Part 20: Battle of Servusarator(I)

"This is troublesome, to think that the governor died," Abraham muttered after reading through the file report. But he wasn\'t that bothered by it. In all actuality, the governor could have been saved by Laplace. After all, she was the dragoness.

But perhaps there was a reason why she didn\'t save him. He\'d have to ask about it later. However, for now, he needed to handle what was to come next after the diplomatic failure.

The local garrison had already uttered their stance on the subject matter. They would be fighting for their own town and would be willing to lay their lives for it.

Though... They weren\'t the ones that the United Navy considered troublesome.

Currently, the field between the Marine Vanguard Forces and the town of Servusarator was tense. A battle might erupt in a minute, and it would be bloodshed for both sides. Especially if the variables hadn\'t been evacuated.

What he meant was... The civilians.

"The civilians of the town hadn\'t been evacuated yet and are still residing in their homes. With a population of over ten thousand, it would be difficult for the Marines to fight without causing some civilian casualties. And civilian casualties aren\'t good." Abraham uttered with furrowed eyebrows.

"Correct, an urban war would be devastating for both our forces and theirs. But they seem adamant in fighting, perhaps they don\'t care about their lives." Charlotte stood beside the fleet admiral and remarked.

"I don\'t care about what they think. If we pummel the town into rubble, it would burn the bridge between us and humanity. We need to conquer the town without it burning asunder." Abraham expressed his annoyance at the matter.

"Hmm... How about sending the Special Response Unit? This circumstance appears to be up to their alley." Vice Admiral Charlotte suggested, making Abraham raise his eyebrows.

That was a good idea. With their capabilities, they might be able to behead the leadership of the local garrison, dampening the town\'s defensive capabilities by a wider margin.

"That\'s a good proposal. Please call the second in command of the Special Response Unit. I need to have a talk with their lieutenant." Abraham nodded in satisfaction and turned his head towards the communication operator, giving her orders.

The communication operator nodded at her fleet admiral and immediately opened a transmission to the Special Response Unit. The electronics inside the bridge buzzed and hummed before a voice came out.

*This is Second Lieutenant Mercedes, what are the orders?*

The aloof words of the wolf beastfolk girl resounded in the ears of the communication operator. The operator squinted her eyes and swiftly relayed the orders of the fleet admiral to the second lieutenant.

"The fleet admiral wishes to talk to the lieutenant."

Hearing the words of the communication operator, Mercedes was a bit surprised. But the edges of her lips rose as it appeared that their fleet admiral would be sending them to another mission. It filled her with honor to be of use to the fleet admiral.

*I shall do so.* Mercedes responded and the communication operator was then met with silence lasting ten seconds. Afterward, a soft yet proud voice escaped the communication radio.

*Abraham, what can I do for you.* The communication operator had already connected the transmission to the main array, so the words of the lieutenant echoed throughout the bridge.

"I didn\'t want to mobilize you after sending you out to take care of the governor\'s manor. But it seems that the situation has worsened. The Marine Vanguard Forces cannot begin their attacks without causing damning casualties to the civilian population inside the town."

"So... We want your Special Response Unit to take out their leadership. Can you do it?" Abraham inquired, wanting to know if Laplace was confident at the task he was giving to her.

*My unit should be able to do it. But getting two missions in one mission...* Laplace said with a pitiful voice as though she was being overworked by her boss. Abraham couldn\'t help but facepalmed and asked.

"What do you want?" For some reason, after uttering such words, he could feel her giggling on the other side. He merely shook his head, thinking that it was his imagination, and waited for her response.

*How about a date? And you\'ll be the one spending.*

Abraham was astounded by the suggestion of the dragoness, but he failed to hide his smile, which was obvious for everyone to see. Charlotte shook her head as the fleet admiral was too obvious.

"Ehem... I\'ll think about it." He coughed and replied to the lieutenant, who merely smiled on the other side as it was enough for her.

The reason why she wanted to have a date was because of her fellow soldiers discussing it. It seems to be an event where one would take someone out to a restaurant of some sort to eat. And there were a lot of things she wanted to eat.

Other than that, she also desired to have some time with Abraham.

After all, it has been a while since they spent time with one another.

*That\'s good enough. I\'ll take care of the town of Servusarator, so wait for your good news.* Laplace responded to Abraham and continued. *Also, be careful, Abraham. The fleet of Principatus Humanum might emerge on the shores of the colony.*

*It will be a full-blown naval battle.*

Hearing the warning of Laplace, Abraham nodded in understanding and replied. "I\'ll take our warning to heart, Laplace. You as well should be careful out there."

*Thank you, Abraham.* Laplace softly uttered and the transmission was cut.

Silence shrouded the bridge as every naval personnel stared at their fleet admiral who was silent. When he noticed their eyes, all of the naval personnel swiftly pointed their attention to what they were doing and pretended that nothing happened.

"It seems that fleet admiral enjoyed the talk with the lieutenant," Charlotte remarked with a smile while Abraham whistled, pretending to not hear anything from her.

It has been a while since the moment he freed Laplace from her shackles in that damnable merchant ship. And their relationship was more or less anchored somewhere.

They weren\'t in that kind of relationship yet despite the ever-growing interactions. Their duty as the fleet admiral and lieutenant of the United Navy was impeding any signs of growth in their relationship, which was truly disappointing.

After all, Abraham wasn\'t ignorant of Laplace\'s exploits throughout the United Navy.

Whether it\'d be the creation of the Special Response Unit, the improvement of relations between beastfolk and humans in the Port of Dawn, and the success of various operations that could have brought massive casualties.

He could only sight to himself and hoped that things calm damn for the sake of the two of them.

"At any rate, let\'s continue with our discussion," Abraham said and opened another file report.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the town, Servusarator. The Marine Vanguard Forces had entrenched themselves and awaited further orders from the high command. Almost the entirety of the island had been conquered by the United Navy, and they were in the process of stabilization.

Sadly, however. There was the thorn, consisting of the town of Servusarator and its remaining colonists. As long as they remained on the island, the influence of the Colonial Dominion of Terra perpetuated all throughout its land.

If they wished to liberate the Minokin tribe and their land, the colonists would have to leave the island and never return.

Somewhere in the encampment of the Marines, most of the superior officers in Operation Phantom Liberation were gathered together for a meeting. It was mostly about the task ordered by the fleet admiral.

"You\'re saying that the fleet admiral wants you to take care of the local garrison\'s leadership?" Lieutenant Colonel Aquila questioned with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, Abraham wants the Special Response Unit to partake in the mission." Laplace nodded with a smile, not bothered by the intricacies of the upcoming mission.

"That isn\'t a bad idea. With the leadership gone, they wouldn\'t be able to defend the town to their maximum capabilities. We can also call for their surrender, and no one would be bothering to stop it."

"But... The problem of this matter isn\'t about the effectiveness of this mission. It is primarily about whether the SRU can handle such a mission or not." Lieutenant Colonel Aquila expressed his thoughts about the matter.

"I can vouch for the capabilities of my unit, Lieutenant Colonel. There\'s a reason why the fleet admiral specifically called for us to do such a task. Otherwise, he would have called anyone else, no?" Laplace uttered with a soft yet determined voice.

Lieutenant Colonel Aquila merely looked at the golden eyes of the dragoness for a moment before nodding at her in understanding. "I supposed you have a point."

"Thank you for your trust, Lieutenant Colonel."

"Anyhow, the Special Response Unit will be leaving in half an hour. The faster we handle the town. The better our circumstance will be." Laplace stood up and walked out of the command tent, heading to the gathering tents of her unit.
