Chapter 50 Don't Listen To His Words

"It\'s true, I\'m a chalk of this history, so your threats cannot reach me now, Izek."

Lucas leaned his head closer and stared him straight in the eye. Without blinking or breathing in the air he was gazing into his soul.

The aura around them was like day and night, fighting for the survival of whoever would emerge first. The night may defeat the day before the sun shows its rays, but the sunlight will shine brighter, removing the stars and forcing the moon to sleep.

-You\'ve grown balls." Izek\'s eyebrows drew together as he lurched back.

Lucas was already used to Izek\'s arrogant attitude in this place. He wasn\'t the first, nor the last, to speak to him like that.

In his world, people were arrogant and the never-ending competition of who got more money and was richer in life surrounded him every day.

Rich and ignorant classmates who always made fun of Lucas\'s average and simple lifestyle, the customers at his workplace who were always yelling and screaming to prove their point, and the doctors at Kali\'s hospital who showed that everything belonged to them and that it was their decision whether the patient was allowed to live or die.

That was enough for him to understand that Izek\'s cool personality was no big deal and that he needed his body.

Without Lucas, Izek would probably still be locked up somewhere where no one could find or see him. He could only return through Lucas\' physical body, and it didn\'t take Lucas much to figure that out.

\'You want to take over my body, but you can\'t and we both know that,\' Lucas grinned in front of his face.

In this situation he\'d more of an advantage than Izek, he was the owner of the body and Izek wouldn\'t be able to take it over completely unless Lucas allowed him to.

He could see him in his sleep, and if he fainted. He could inflict pain on Lucas internally, but otherwise, Izek was completely powerless against him.

-You think you can take advantage of the situation, you don\'t think I\'m going to stay here forever, do you?-

Izek wanted to threaten him with pain, but judging by Lucas\'s reaction, that wouldn\'t work anymore, and Izek felt it.

-Boy, when I get out of your body, you\'ll be the first to face me.-

Lucas felt a cold draft run through his body that made his toes freeze.

\'Listen, you can threaten me all you want, but like I said, at the end of the day, you\'re going to need me, I no longer need you.\'

Speaking to the biggest threat to his body didn\'t make Lucas feel intimidated. The goal he had in mind was to save Mina and get Kali out of there, so the cold wind Izek was throwing at him wouldn\'t stop him from doing what he\'d started.

If there was a way to save Mina, he\'d risk everything.

-Let\'s see...-

Lucas opened his eyes and found himself back in the same dark weapons room as everyone else.

"Damn, this world really likes cold things." He shook his head as he held the blade Haya had handed him.

"The blade is cool?"

"No, Haya. This place." Lucas lowered his gaze and looked at the blade. \'It\'s sharp, and if I could learn to use it, my plan to get out of here would certainly become easier.\'

Talking to Izek spurred Lucas to work harder, to hone his skills, and to make his way out of here: \'I won\'t let you win.\' Another thought flashed through his mind.

"So...?" Xina asked him distantly.

She had that cold look on her face again, not letting Lucas think for himself and pressuring him to make up his mind quickly.

Her trembling leg made the floor shake, everyone could hear her from downstairs.

"Xina, are you okay?" Kali\'s voice sounded like an angel sent from afar.

Lucas remembered that this was probably her first encounter with Xina and turned to Kali, "Don\'t bother." He raised an eyebrow.

Xina was a mean person, and Kali was like a spring flower in his eyes. She was kind and gentle, and even though she\'d beaten him, it didn\'t change his opinion of her.

Just having Kali here with him made him feel better. He was glad that Kali had turned into a dragon, which made her stronger and she could fight alone.

Maybe not the human-hybrid like the previous one, who looked like he was travelling from dimensions, but she could at least fight someone her size.

"Lu-Lucas..." Kali paused, "we are a team." She added to her statement.

A team or not, Lucas only cared more about her feelings and safety than the other two. Kali was vulnerable in her human form, and Xina was tall and muscular compared to Kali\'s small body.

Haya also had broad shoulders and was about twice as tall as Lucas, so he was also considered strong in Lucas\' eyes.

If they had to fight as a team, they had to get along as a team, but discriminating between members was not the best way to get along. Xina\'s arrogant attitude was not convincing enough for Lucas to make him trust her immediately.

"I will take this sword, but I also want a small knife." Lucas glanced at the smaller blade lying on a shelf next to the one where was his placed.

It looked touchable, so he assumed this knife was for sale and up for grabs, otherwise, why would it be visible to his eyes?

"Which one?"

"That one, Haya, the one with the black dagger." Lucas nodded and pointed with his head to the brown wooden shelf.

"Good choice, what\'s it for?" Haya asked him as he examined the knife Lucas had asked about.

It was about thirty centimetres long and its blade looked as sharp as newly made glass that could cut perfectly through the skin.

"This blade will be for Kali." He raised his tone and lifted his head again, "she needs one too." He turned to the side where she stood with her mouth slightly open.

"Lu-Lucas ..."

"It\'s for your own protection."
