Chapter 126 126 – Live As A Chosen One

The villagers are taking care of the werewolf\'s corpse in the cemetery. Meanwhile, several people surrounded Velvet, continuing to worship the prophet.

"You\'re extraordinary, Miss Velvet!"

"This is God\'s will! If you don\'t come here, our village will be destroyed!"

"Hey, Miss Prophet, is there a chance for my daughter to be your partner? I guarantee that she will obey God very well!"

"Silence, all of you!" The village chief, a man with a chubby stomach and short stature gave a warning after coordinating with the men who had handled the werewolf\'s corpse. That man then grinned and rubbed his hands. "Today is my son\'s birthday. How about you join the party at our house tonight, Miss Velvet? We also invited an elemental dancer as entertainment!"

The prophet\'s chin dropped slightly, and Candice took over the conversation. "I think that\'s enough. Miss Velvet still has to do worship at the temple."

"You\'ll love this! You used to be a dancer, too, right?" The village head added.

Velvet could only give an awkward smile.

The people tried to talk to Velvet again, but Candice kept getting in the way. "Sorry, sorry. Miss Velvet has to go now."

Velvet waved at them, and Candice pushed her away.

Those two walked at a fast pace. Candice had to repeatedly remind the individuals who would follow them.

"Did they forget about the deal?" The mage snorted when she and Velvet were far enough. "They shouldn\'t have approached you while you were here. Why did they come after you when they found out you killed a monster?"

"Well, it\'s okay." Velvet smiled faintly.

"It\'s definitely not okay." Candice scratched her hair. "You should…."

"Can we not fight?" Velvet cut off her best friend\'s words. "I…. Ah, nothing."

Candice was silent for a moment, then wiped the tears from the prophet\'s eyes. "You still think about Adrian, huh?"

"I\'ve fought many things with this god given power, but I couldn\'t save my best friend." Velvet smiled again, but this time more bitterly.

"It\'s not your fault, absolutely not your fault." The mage let out a long breath.

They continued on their way in silence through the snow-covered streets.

A knocking sound woke Velvet, who was sleeping in bed. She raised her body, frowning when she saw a woman at the window.

"Candice?" The prophet whispered, rushed to the window and opened it. "What are you doing here!?"

The mage seemed to struggle to hold on to the rope whose end was magically attached to the wall. "Come with me, Vel."

"Where are we going!?" Velvet kept her voice low, then looked around to check on the situation. "This is a temple! You could get in big trouble if you get caught!"

"I just came up with a great idea that might make you happy!" Candice was really trying hard not to fall. "And I just arranged this a moment ago!"

"You\'ve gone mad, huh! I….."

"Oh, come on! Come with me! Or I will tell your mom that you drank alcohol, lost control and wet your bed!"

The prophet\'s face immediately turned red. "I didn\'t know it was alcohol because it looked like water! And you didn\'t warn me and laughed instead!"

"But in the end, you still drank the alcohol. That fact cannot be denied, Vel. You have committed a grave sin as a woman of God." The mage\'s cheeks bulged, and her hands trembled. She had more and more trouble holding on to the rope. "And your mom would still believe me. I never lied to her…. Well, sometimes I don\'t tell the truth, though."

Velvet scratched her hair, feeling frustrated. "What do you want to show me?"

Candice grinned. "It\'s not fun if I reveal the surprise…."

The mage\'s grip slipped, but fortunately, Velvet could catch her friend\'s robe.

"Wow, that\'s a little scary." Candice stuck out her tongue.

"A little scary, you said!? You almost dead, dumbass!"

"Hey, I just heard you say something rude. I can also report this to your mom."

Candice opened one of the rooms in her house and then spoke to Velvet. "Come in."

The prophet pokes her head into the room. And Candice electrocuted her butt again, forcing her to jump in.

"Can you not attack my ass!" Velvet snapped. "I\'ve had enough…."

"Wait here a moment." Candice cut her friend off, giving her a mischievous smile. "You trust me, right?"

Velvet was about to argue, but she chose not to. It was a question Candice rarely asked, only popping up at important moments. One example is when they are desperate to defeat the greatest dark wizard in the world.

This means that it is very serious.

Candice closed the room from the outside without waiting for the prophet\'s answer.

Velvet sighed, looking at the room full of bookshelves. She really couldn\'t guess what her best friend would do.

She was about to sit down in a chair, but she froze when her ears caught the sound of a lute.

And a few seconds later, the sounds of other instruments followed.

The prophet\'s hands began to shake. The soft, swaying tone was familiar to her ears and triggered her desire to dance.

However, a woman like herself had to resist that urge. Worldly things that affect the mind, such as dancing, music, alcohol, and so on are forbidden to God\'s servants. Those things will make them unable to focus on their duties.

Ordinary people are not prohibited from doing that. However, priests, missionaries, nuns, and prophets like Velvet are not allowed to do it.

At least, that\'s what the religious leaders say. No one knows who made the rules like that.

However, as everyone\'s role model, Velvet would naturally adhere to that rule.

Velvet knows Candice wants her to be happy. Her best friend even bothered to hire the orchestra, used silencer magic so no one would hear from outside, and left Velvet alone in the room so no one would see her.

It was so that Velvet could dance again, like when she was little before she was chosen by God. At that time, she dreamed of becoming an elemental dancer. She wanted to perform on stage and was admired by so many people.

Candice wanted Velvet to remember the good times.

The melodious music from the next room was still going on. The prophet looked up, smiled, and shed tears. "Candice, you are an idiot."

In the end, Velvet didn\'t dance, even though her desire was immeasurable. She chose to leave that place without saying goodbye to Candice.

The farther she walked, the fainter the music sounded in her ears.
