Chapter 65 - Fail, Or Not A Fail, That Is The Question

"Well, there are exceptions, I guess..." Octer pointed out, "You do have a pretty unique class... and if that was a martial skill you were supposed to get soon anyway when leveling the skill up, then I guess it\'s more likely for that to happen." He explained.

Foster slowly scratched the back of his head, "I mean, I\'m not going to complain about it, you know?"

"Either way, I think we should keep going for now. The fact that he randomly developed a martial skill like that is not the most surprising thing about you anyway." While walking toward the door on the other side of the room, Lynol tried to end this part of the conversation. Figuring that it made sense to try and finish getting through the floor as quickly as possible, the group left this room. If they were lucky, they would probably be able to get to the end without encountering too many death slimes anymore.

"By the way, my new martial skill drains a lot more stamina than I thought... you know why?" Foster asked, and Octer looked at him surprised, "Eh, what tier is it?"

"Ehh, wait, let me check for a second." Foster said, as he pulled up the skill information. He figured that it was going to be tier one, like his \'single strike\' martial skill, but it actually turned out to be a tier two skill instead. After conveying this to Octer, he lightly smiled, "Then that\'s the reason. Higher tier martial skills drain more stamina from you, but they\'re also more powerful."

Foster raised his brows as he watched the message windows disappear from in front of him, "How many tiers are there by the way?"

"Technically, ten, but those are super... and I mean, super rare. The last time anyone used a tier ten spell or martial skill was... like 200 years ago or something?" Octer explained, before carefully pointing at the snake-bracelet, the legacy artifact, around Foster\'s wrist, "By the way... erm... your good friend that left you that thing over there... was one of the few people that apparently used tier ten skills..."

"Yo, what?" Foster let out, somewhat excited, "That\'s fucking awesome, and I\'m inheriting his abilities?"

Octer looked at him with a wry smile, "Apparently so."

"Stop babbling like that. Watch what\'s ahead of you." Lynol warned the two from right behind them, making both Foster and Octer jump for a moment, "Right, sorry..."

And as if Lynol\'s words had summoned them, a pair of skeletons suddenly appeared in front of them. Immediately, Foster rushed forward toward them as Lynol rushed out from behind Octer. And while the former used his single strike martial skill to completely crush the skull of one of them, Lynol\'s heavy greatsword ripped another apart, and in just an instant, the two skeletons were no longer an issue they had to concern themselves with.

"What did I say? Pay attention." Lynol grumbled slightly, as he swung his sword over his shoulder, making it lay on the leather pad with its metal strip, that seemed to be made for exactly this.

"And you too, pay attention... you keep nearly throwing that thing into my face..." Kyla said with a wry smile, "That thing can shrink down for a reason, right? So make it shrink."

"It\'s too risky. If we\'re suddenly ambushed, it\'s going to take too long for my sword to return to its normal size. It might already be too late then." Lynol replied immediately and without even a moment of thought, while Kyla turned her head toward the spot where two skeletons stood just ten seconds ago, "I don\'t think that\'s going to be an issue..."

---

"And here we are, floor two, safe room." Foster said with a light smile on his face, turning around toward the others that currently entered this space. They let out a sigh of relief, and it was silent in here for a few moments, "Are we... continuing?" Octer asked, slowly turning toward Lynol.

It was clear that everyone beside him was extremely eager to continue, and since nobody was exhausted in the slightest, they wanted to move on as soon as possible as well. Lynol slowly closed his eyes and thought for a moment.

"Let\'s rest until we recovered most of our stamina and mana, and then we\'re moving on. According to the map, only the next floor has slime, right? If that\'s the case, we can rush through the rest of the dungeon relatively quickly." Lynol suggested, and the rest of the party figured that this sounded like a good idea.

So for now, while they were resting and taking a break, drinking some water and chewing on the jerky from their provisions, they were all looking at the map for the third floor.

"The slime on the next floor will be a lot more dangerous on an individual level." Kyla explained, "But worse than that, it\'s going to be hard for us to find a spot to hide out with the layout of the floor."

"Couldn\'t we use the \'Holy Field\' miracle while Foster is gone?" Lynol asked before taking another gulp of his water, but Kyla slowly crossed her arms as she started to think about it, "It\'s not like we can\'t, but should we? Again, I can only use it once a day, and it would be good to save it for the boss fight just in case."

Lynol sighed slowly, "I thought about it, and using it for the boss would be just dumb. It means that we would hide out while Foster is taking care of it, and that\'s just not a good idea."

"Yeah, but what else will we do if the boss ends up being a slime?"

"Actually..." Foster said, speaking before Lynol could respond to Kyla again, "I\'m not sure about that anymore... From what I understand, dungeons should be easier on the first floors, and then get harder?"

Unsure at what Foster was getting at, Kyla replied, "Yes, but this is a \'Fail\' type... those rules don\'t apply."

"I mean, you guys are calling it a fail type because low-level adventurers can\'t get through it, and high-level adventurers just don\'t want to bother and risk anything, right? I mean, I\'m a low-level adventurer, and I don\'t have anything to struggle with in here. So what if-"

"It\'s made for people with necromantic resistance?" Kyla asked with wide open eyes, "If that was the case, then that means that the slimes are the \'mob\' enemies, and the regular undead are supposed to be the real threat... which would make sense considering that there is a potentially endless amount of slimes if you don\'t take out the source...." She muttered in thought, before raising her head excitedly, "That would mean that we can\'t completely refute the possibility of the slime playing a roll in the boss fight, but it\'s very, very likely that the boss itself is going to be a more powerful undead like in other dungeons like this."
