Chapter 378: Plots

Chapter 378: Plots

As the time of the attack was decided, all they had to do was make it surprising and take the country by storm.

Magnus decided to use some of his assets from Camelot. The goblins and the Vela were the most useful. Vela were going to lure the wizards, into traps. Then it will be decided whether to let those wizards live or not.

The focus was on bringing as little destruction as possible. It was important that the people of North Korea do not see them as subjugators but instead liberators.

On 23rd December 1976, at 4 AM in the morning, the forces gathered around. The 60 thousand strong forces of the Golden company had arrived to quickly take over the Sino-Korean Border, aka China-North Korea border.

When they first arrived on the huge aircraft, Magnus was left in shock. Not because of the men, but because of all the big guns they had brought with them.

“Where the hell did you get all this?” He asked.

Adrian looked at him as if he was dumb, “Umm, FutureTek defence has made all this. You didn’t go to the Arms Expo a few years ago in the US. By now we have already commissioned a lot of weapons. That includes various kinds of armoured vehicles, tanks, guns and protective suits.”

“Damn, I didn’t even know. Are we also selling them?” He inquired.

“Yes, but not in big quantities. Bobby is trying to woo the British forces themselves to become his biggest buyers. Then comes other European nations. He’s being very careful with whom he sells as we don’t want to be seen as a promoter of wars.” Adrian explained. It was something new in a capitalistic company.

“Do we also make planes?” Magnus inquired. He was always interested in jets since he was a kid. Which kid isn’t.

“Yes, but it’s still in the initial stages of testing. It will take a few years to really make it. By the way, do you understand that after this a lot of countries will be wary of the UK?” Adrian warned him.

“Of course, I know that. But only the communist and dictatorial countries have something to fear me. I mean, look at the president of South Korea, he was a borderline dictator, but I still tolerated him, right? Because he was doing well. Look at King Faisal, I tolerate him because he’s a good king. Of course, if his sons aren’t good then they too shall get democracy.” Magnus firmly replied.

It was something to think about for sure. Adrian didn’t keep him occupied and let Magnus prepare. Soon after, a team of 30 wizards spread around entire North Korea and set up small ritual sites. Each having a powerful wizard as the source. Combining all of them, they shall create a big ward that blocks all apparition and portkey magic in the region.

At 5 AM in the morning. The Dragon team entered, along with Goblins and Vela of Camelot. Generals were being rounded up left and right, not just generals, even some lower-ranked army commanders, since they had too much power and commanded their own units, they could refuse to admit defeat.

Once that happened, Magnus directly headed to Pyongyang. The current leader of North Korea was also the founder of North Korea, Kim Il-sung. The man came to power after the end of Japanese rule in 1945, and he authorised the invasion of South Korea in 1950, triggering an intervention in defence of South Korea by the United Nations, led by the United States. The country was strongly supported by USSR. And funny enough, in the 50s, 60s and just recently, North Korea enjoyed a better living standard than the South, which was going through political and economic crises. But that was going to change.

Magnus was not a big fan of democracy, in reality, he had a different goal in bringing democracy to the world and ending communism. One of them was that both these two ideologies stood against each other, leaving no room for ties. The second reason was that someday in the future, Magnus would try to join the world as one, when that happens, it will be easier if all nations were following the same ideologies.

*WOOSH*

As soon as Magnus stepped inside the huge building that looked more like a place, he was attacked by wizards, who were shouting in Korean. Magnus understood them but chose to ignore them. He didn’t even flinch and used Merlin’s staff as he kept walking in with no care at all.

All the spells that would hit him would get bounced off to another wizard who would end up being injured. Magnus was like an impenetrable tank in the middle of soldiers with nothing but simple pistols.

“Stand down, I have no fight with you wizards.” He announced to them repeatedly. But they were brainwashed or had too many interests tied to the continued rule of the Kim Family.

Magnus didn’t care about them at all. He blasted through every single closed door while taking care of all the muggles and wizards. He didn’t kill all of them, but if he found any Kim family member, it was instant death, be it a man or a woman. Only children were spared.

With the entire map of the building in his mind, he headed downwards to the basement. But, as his attack had occurred, the North Korean Army had sent SOS calls to the Soviets as well as the Chinese.

The Soviet Union,

Moscow, General Secretary’s office.

*BAM* The door opened and a few men rushed in, panting and their faces pale. “Sir, big news.”

Leonid Brezhnev, the General Secretary, raised his palm to stop them, “I know, the British have grown a spine, launching an attack on North Korea. I have already met the Generals and Admirals of the Pacific Fleet. They are to surround South Korea and start bombarding.”

However, the faces of the men who just came didn’t change, the assistant of Leonid Brezhnev spoke, “General Secretary, it’s about the commanders of the Pacific Fleet. Their plane crashed as they were headed to the port. 90% of the commanders of the Pacific fleet have been killed in the crash.”

(⊙_⊙;)

Leonid Brezhnev’s face changed, it wasn’t just a frown, it was fear now. “Who else knows this?”

“Nobody, the plane is nothing but ashes, nobody knows who was in it other than those in high command.” the assistant replied.

“Fine, fine… keep it a secret, the Americans must never find out about this. Meanwhile, call off the attack. Keeping our borders safe is more important than keeping North Korea. Get me through to the Chinese, we may have our differences but they would surely not want North Korea slipping.” Brezhnev blurted a series of commands one after another.

“And where is comrade Putin? Send him to the crash site and let him investigate and hand me a detailed report of how this happened. We have a specific protocol to not let all commanders travel in one aircraft, this same accident has occurred in the past as well.” He asked them.

“Sir, Putin is already on the scene.” the assistant replied.

“Good, call the KGB chief next, we need to find out who is the traitor in our country. Too many coincidences are happening.” He ordered.

On one side, USSR found itself in more trouble than it wanted, on the other hand, China was alerted by what was happening. Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, died on September 9, 1976.

At the time of his death, China was in a political and economic quagmire. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution and subsequent factional fighting had left the country much poorer, weaker, and isolated than it had been in 1965. Scores of capable party officials, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and professionals were languishing in prison or labouring in factories, mines, and fields. Many schools had been closed, and an entire generation of young people were unable to obtain an education.

Chinese people mourned Mao, but not in the more emotional way they had mourned the late Premier Zhou Enlai. Meanwhile, Mao’s designated successor, Hua Guofeng, had assumed the post of party chairman.

Hua Guofeng knew that the political arena of the country was divided and his position was in danger. So when the North Korean crisis occurred, he found the perfect way to deal with things. After all, for any king, war was the best way to change the public perception, by turning them more patriotic and interested in war rather than the economy.

So, he called for the army to head to the North Korean Border and officially invade, they had received a request for help from the Korean administration anyway, so what they were doing was under the law.
