Chapter 163 - Unique Circumstances
As he imagined many things, he noticed that Maximo had already finished his almond nuts with nothing but specks of dust left on the ground.
He was confused by how fast the carabao had eaten the almond nuts.
That latest portion was equivalent or even more than the last one, how did he finish it with only half the time expended?
What he was more confused about is that Maximo still hasn\'t triggered his evolution.
\'Is this carabao a scam?\' He couldn\'t help but think about it.
Not only it didn\'t evolve after eating all the almond nuts he had given, but it was also even staring at him like it hasn\'t been fed for a week.
\'Fuck!\' He gritted his teeth and took a bunch of almond nuts inside his Storage Space.
\'That will be enough for your evolution right?\' He thought hesitatingly.
He went quite a \'length\' just to fetch those almond nuts after all. The batch he stored inside the Storage Space should be able to last more than three meals. However, Maximo almost already consumed half of them.
\'You better evolve after that. You don\'t expect me to become a farmer and collect your foods all day long right?\' Nile thought ridiculously.
He went towards a corner and prayed for the various Gods, small or huge, little or big.
\'Please let there be an evolution this time!\' He silently muttered while closing his eyes.
After muttering for almost a few minutes, the longest he has prayed so far, he finally stood up and went towards the eating Maximo.
Maximo alertly looked at his master and hid the almond nuts under his belly.
However, a moment later, he heaves a sigh of relief as his master only patted his head before going out of the room. He felt satisfied with the pat and continued to eat the almond nuts happily after his master went past him and went outside the building.
…
Meanwhile, Burnok was still observing his surroundings ever since earlier.
Beads of sweat started to form on his forehead as he recalled the consequences of going out alone at night.
The reason for his nervous and alert self was not the Beheader that he was searching for.
Instead, it was the hybrids.
However, a moment later, he heaves a sigh of relief before touching the orange piece of clothing that was wrapped on his neck.
He recalled that it\'s alright for him to go out alone during the night with his unique circumstances.
Aside from being infested with zombies, the town was also littered with flesh-eating lunatics that also came from the different villages under the town of Daan.
During the day, one would only need to worry about zombies.
It was also only during the day that humans could hunt for zombies and do various things.
However, when night time comes, they better return to their respective bases situated outside the town.
Because at night, it was the hybrid\'s turn to hunt both humans and zombies.
If a lost human was found along the street inside the town, one could only pray for the human to last two hours.
That is why survivors needed to join the two factions from the east and west of the town. You don\'t join for the honor but for a place to stay in during the night.
Burnok nervously stared outside the building he was in. From where he was currently at, he could roughly see the hybrid\'s minced meat that the \'Beheader\' might have killed before.
Suddenly, multiple figures appeared all of a sudden on the hybrid\'s dead body. As it was far, he couldn\'t see them clearly, but he does know that they were wearing dark clothing that blended well with the night.
Seeing them, he knew for sure that he was staring at dozens of hybrids simultaneously.
Feeling the stare, the dozens of hybrids turned their heads towards him at the same time.
Burnok felt a shiver over his spine but instantly subdued it.
This was another problem during the night, hybrids would become very sensitive, and they will even have a considerable amount of boost in their powers during the night.
You can say that not all hybrids became one because of challenging circumstances, such as no food to eat. Some of them willingly become one, for the power that came with it.
Burnok gulped a mouthful of saliva as he waited for them to approach him.
During the night, enter a house and hide inside until morning.
That would be the basic rule if you were alone inside the town. It won\'t do much, but you will have a form of cover from the hybrid\'s keen senses during the night.
He already knew that the hybrids had already noticed him.
Woosh!
In an instant, the dozens of figures blurred and reappeared in front of the entrance of the building he was in.
As they were about to brute force their way in, one hybrid suddenly pointed his long fingernails towards the second floor where Burnok was.
The hybrids turned their heads towards that floor instantly, and what they saw was a man waving orange-colored clothing.
Without wasting more time, the hybrids clicked their tongues before leaving the area. As they were leaving, they took a handful of the hybrid minced meat and spread it on the walls of the houses.
Seeing them leave, Burnok heaved another sigh of relief as he wiped the beads sweats that had formed on his forehead.
\'Luckily, they have given this to me!\' He thought as he stared at the orange piece of clothing in his hand.
He chuckled inwardly and couldn\'t help but ridicule himself for being a coward. \'I am already a level two and yet here I am inside a building cowering from a bunch of level one hybrids.\'
However, he knew for himself that during the night, the hybrids are not to be underestimated.
Aside from that, his circumstances don\'t allow him to fight those disgusting human eaters.
\'Well, I did confirm that the Beheader isn\'t a hybrid earlier. So I think it\'s alright to kill it, whatever it was.\' He thought.
Even though he is unwilling, it was part of his job.
\'Never let the two factions have an outbalance of power levels before the master had healed from the injuries.\'
