Chapter 227

“It’s a shame that we are eating Chinese food, I can’t use the dining etiquette I just learned in the afternoon.” Ye Zhi’s tone was a bit regretful.

Gu Ren responded to her reply with a smile: “Should we go to eat Western food next time?”

“Sure.” Ye Zhi nodded. She picked up her chopsticks and continued to eat.

It gradually got dark outside as Ye Zhi’s eyes were focused on Gu Ren for some time.

Unknown to Ye Zhi, staying with Gu Ren had subconsciously become a habit in her life.

After walking out of the restaurant, she noticed that there were only a few street lights in the narrow alleyway.

The dim yellow light fell on the pavement. Although it felt beautiful, one could only barely see the road. For Gu Ren, it was not a good thing.

Gu Ren paused just after walking out of the restaurant. After hesitating for a moment, Ye Zhi slowly walked out behind him.

As soon as Ye Zhi took the first step, she realized that situation was not right. She looked towards the entrance of the alley.

Although the light in the alley was dim, Ye Zhi could see the road. However, it was not the same for Gu Ren.

Ye Zhi thought about taking out her mobile phone from her bag, preparing to illuminate the alley and provide light for Gu Ren.

However, Gu Ren said in a seemingly fragile voice in the next second.

“Ye Zhi, I can’t see.”

Gu Ren’s tall and slender body stood in the same place, not even ready to move. Gu Ren saw Ye Zhi’s hesitation and made a suggestion.

“Why don’t you lead me?”

It was a well thought out move.

Ye Zhi turned her head and glanced at Gu Ren. Ye Zhi’s actions were noticed by Gu Ren. However, it was misinterpreted by him.

Gu Ren thought that Ye Zhi felt sorry for him, so she was ready to stretch out her hand and take the initiative to lead him.

Unexpectedly, Ye Zhi immediately said: “Wait a minute, I will turn on the flashlight on the phone and then you will be able to see again.”

Things didn’t always go as planned.

The light of the flashlight fell untimely, interrupting Gu Ren’s selfishness.

Gu Ren’s eyebrows knitted. Looking at the already clear road, he pretended to be pitiful. He looked left and right before saying hesitatingly.

“It still seems a little dark.”

Ye Zhi looked around strangely: “It’s pretty bright.”

Gu Ren lightly sighed, “Maybe my symptoms have worsened.”

When Ye Zhi heard this, she quickly took a step towards Gu Ren: “Are you okay?”

Gu Ren looked at Ye Zhi, who was only half a meter away from him, and stretched out his hand. His slender and thin fingers grabbed Ye Zhi’s sleeve.

“It will be alright.”

Ye Zhi believed Gu Ren’s words and shone the light of the flashlight on the road in front of him. Gu Ren silently followed Ye Zhi as she led the way.

The car was parked outside the alley. Along the way, Ye Zhi kept reminding Gu Ren incessantly.

“You should be careful when you shoot night scenes especially when I’m not around in the future…”

Before Ye Zhi had finished speaking, Gu Ren suddenly released the corner of Ye Zhi’s sleeve. He took a few steps forward, walking out of the alley. It was quite bright outside the alley as the main road had good streetlights. He couldn’t pretend anymore.

Gu Ren kept silent the whole time. He sat in the driver’s seat, but he did not forget to help open Ye Zhi’s car door.

At that moment, the street light reflected in Gu Ren’s helpless eyes.
