Chapter 103 Unwanted Visitors
"I think that everything is possible, but no one managed to pull that off," Artemisia replied. "Come to think of it, I still have a lot of things to teach you, but we have been too busy as of late. You didn\'t even have time to look for a girlfriend."
"That talk again… Do you want to be called grandma before turning forty that much?" Aion asked while frowning.
"Something like that won\'t bother me in the least," Artemisia replied.
Aion was already eleven, and his hormones were starting to affect him again. While that was only natural, he wanted to focus on other things for the next few years. Having a girlfriend around his age would make him feel complicated now. It will still be complicated once he has an adult body, but it will be a lot less. Besides, Aion still wanted to travel the world, and that would be complicated if he made a family before that.
Anyway, the next few months passed rather smoothly. Much to Aion\'s surprise, no one connected the dots between the attacks and liberation of the slaves with him. Those who reached his town decided to live there and make some money while they were at it. Aion knew that most of them were going to live once they had enough money, but that was fine. Their work was filling his wallet as well.
During the next few months, Aion also gave the order for the construction of a port in the terrain that he obtained. Guarding it would be difficult, but he made his scarlet tigers do the Protection there. Speaking of which, after a few months, the eggs hatched and some unexpected creatures came out from it. They were three-tailed, blue cats… Their names were Articirius… Monsters like that are rare even in cold areas and almost extinct in other parts of the world.
"It is weird that cats came from eggs, but I guess that isn\'t the problem here…" Aion thought. "Can they even live in this kind of environment for long?"
Artemisia sure liked them. At some point, it became her hobby to pet them all day. Even though Aion never had been much of an animal lover, from his perspective, they were cute. Still, he was only interested if they could live in that kingdom and if they could grow to protect his mother.
Information about them was lacking, and since Aion couldn\'t see their parameters, it was hard to say how strong they were. He still tamed them anyway. Although Aion couldn\'t see their parameters, he could sense their mana increasing with each passing day alongside their size. It was hard to know if it was something normal or if it was due to the fact that they were eating monsters\' meat every day.
Aion was planning to take them to the dungeon someday and test their powers. Considering how much power Aion could obtain by himself and how strong the adventurers were, he didn\'t think that they gained as much strength as him by defeating a single monster, but all theories needed to be checked.
Over the course of those months, some immigrants also moved to Aion\'s territory. Apparently, they came from many parts of the kingdom. A few came from the Rosberg kingdom, it was hard to say if they came to keep a watch on him or to do something else, but in the end, Aion could only accept them and act only based on real actions instead of fears.
More mercenaries and adventurers began to join the guild of the town as well, so things began to get a lot more lively in the town. Instead of postponing that, Aion also selected the best blacksmith and made him fix his armor. Since Aion was selling gems to other parts of the kingdom and buying materials from them as well, he managed to improve it while keeping the same design.
"It doesn\'t seem like I am going to have a tough fight any time soon, but it is better to be safe than sorry," Aion thought.
Recently, Aion has been learning from his mother how to use the elements to use support magic. The main element for healing was water, with that, Aion could revitalize wounds, clean them while removing poison, and even accelerate the wound from closing up. He was also practicing late in the night.
"Oh, man… no matter how many times I do this, I can\'t get used to wounding myself," Aion thought. "Even if I don\'t have more than a mosquito bite thanks to Pain Resistance, something makes me uneasy about doing this…"
While Aion was acting like a wuss, he suddenly heard a powerful impact coming from the room on the side. He jumped from his bed and kicked the door, and dashed with all his might toward his mother\'s room. He destroyed that door as well, only to find some corpses on the walls being penetrated by ice spears. It seemed that Articirius did that… Artemisia had just woken up.
"Mom! Are you all right?" Aion approached and then asked.
"Yes… I am…" Artemisia said with her eyes wide open. "But their mana is and their appearance…"
Aion couldn\'t feel anything from their mana, but the three men on the walls had some traits like his mother… blond long straight hair. Their eyes were green, though. Still, it seemed like they were survivors from her homeland. The real question was how they entered the house and why they had come… the Articirius had the order to only attack those who approach Artemisia with malicious intentions.
