Zhao Yao sighed, “You think I want Roly Poly to act as Elizabeth to chat with him on WeChat just to cheat his money?”
Elizabeth thought to herself, “Isn’t that the case?”
Roly Poly, who followed Zhao Yao every day gasped silently, “If not just for the money, does it mean he’s after his body as well?”
Looking at their expressions, Zhao Yao seemed to have guessed their thoughts. He replied in a disappointed tone, “Both of you disappoint me so much. Have you all forgotten the motive behind doing the live stream?”
Elizabeth replied in a quiet voice, “To be famous?”
Roly Poly added, “To earn money?”
“Wrong!” Zhao Yao continued, “Being a host on a live stream is a job that sells dreams. It is for nerdy cats like Matcha feel that they have a pretty member of the opposite sex playing with them, for poor cats like Fish Ball to experience a life they could never have, and for fat nerds like you, Roly Poly, to interact with your goddess.
For each lonely soul out there to find an island of peace in the vast sea of the Internet, for those seeking warmth, dependence, and comfort from each other. This is the true meaning behind being a live stream host.”
Zhao Yao pointed to the screen and said, “Elizabeth, you are the dream of ‘Your Cat Master’. Behind the computer screen, he might just be a fat and ugly cat that has nothing but money. This live stream gave him the chance to interact with you. WeChat would be the platform that fulfills his dream of becoming friends with his goddess.
The main point lies in the dream itself. As to whether the cat behind the screen is you or Roly Poly, does that really matter?”
Roly Poly was confused, “Doesn’t it?”
Zhao Yao stepped on Roly Poly as he said, “Is that important?”
Roly Poly immediately shook his head, “No it’s not.”
“So you guys are not lying to him, but helping him to fulfill his dream of interacting with his goddess.”
Roly Poly thought to himself, “Scumbag.”
Elizabeth was gasped in her heart, “Wretch.”
Zhao Yao continued, “Roly Poly, delete the photo of yourself in your WeChat and upload a photo of Elizabeth. In the future, you will continue chatting with him so that he will continue to tip Elizabeth some Rockets. He can give you red packets directly as well and you can split half with Elizabeth.”
Roly Poly’s expression changed immediately as he said with a serious voice, “I understand now. We are not creating a dream but are the middlemen transporting dreams and earning commission from it.”
Elizabeth controlled the computer and gushed excitedly, “Roly Poly quick, I sent him your WeChat already.”
Zhao Yao stared at Roly Poly and Elizabeth working together with satisfaction as the popularity of the live stream rose to new levels.
The popularity of the live stream was not bad so Zhao Yao did not tip any more Rockets. He grabbed Roly Poly who was using WeChat and turned into the Headless Horseman again as they went to the catmint field.
When he saw him approaching, Cannon from Japan, who had been focused on planting catmint exclaimed, “Zhao Yao, you’re finally here! That d*mn guy actually stole our catmint. If I was still the old me, I would have scratched him to death.”
“Alright, that’s enough,” Zhao Yao patted the agitated Cannon and the latter immediately lay flat on the floor, giggling with pleasure. Zhao Yao asked, “How’s it going? Have the goods been prepared for today?”
“They have already been packaged, Dust Ball will also be coming to dispatch them personally.”
Zhao Yao found Dust Ball, who was pacing around menacingly. Though she was only the size of his palm, her actions gave off the feel of a tiger guarding its territory as she paced around the box of catmint, staring at everyone as if they were all thieves.
She relaxed a little upon seeing Zhao Yao. “Zhao Yao, I will come with you this time. I must catch that d*mn guy.”
Zhao Yao pacified Dust Ball and reassured her that she need not come along. Afterall, given how capable Dust Ball was at guarding the catmint, on top of the superpowers in the Extradimensional Belly, he was afraid that Dust Ball would not give the other party a chance to steal the catmint at all.
Following Zhao Yao’s advice, Dust Ball gave up on her plan to come along. Zhao Yao chose Red Packet and Fish Ball to go with him instead.
...
It was past midnight. The field was dead quiet without a single soul around. It looked empty and forlorn.
More than 10 wild supercats walked discreetly towards the track bordering the field. Their leader was the fat orange cat that resembled Matcha.
“Mao Bro,” a multi-colored cat beside Fat Matcha said, “Looks like the cat rascals of that Headless b*stard aren’t here yet.” The Headless b*stard, Zhao Yao, had gained another nickname for himself in the supercat realm in Jianghai. That was what most of the cats selling catmint called him.
Seeing no reaction from Big Bro Mao, the multi-colored cat said again, “Heard that recently a few transactions had been intercepted and snatched by other people. The snatcher claims to be the Headless Horseman. Maybe that Headless b*stard is double-crossing us?”
“What double-crossing nonsense?” fat Mao Mao said, “We are legitimate business cats doing legitimate business. Selling catmint is not illegal, so how is that double-crossing? We are law-abiding citizens being robbed.”
The multi-colored cat continued, “But, we didn’t pay tax. Previously the supercats from the government came to collect tax from us saying that we are operating illegally and that they will fine us.”
Mao Mao was enraged by his words and shouted, “Pay what tax? We supercats will never pay tax!”
“They want me to pay tax? I would rather die!”
“Good!”
“Well said!”
“We would rather die than pay tax!”
Hearing these words, the cat underlings behind them all raised their paws and cheered in unison. The gravity of supercats evading tax in Jianghai was obvious.
As the emerging generation of smart lives on Earth, these lawless supercats were born with tax-evading genes. The cats saw paying tax as an insult and evading tax as an honor, inciting much criticism and concern from the higher authorities.
To tackle this issue, Uncle Ho and his team had organized a special unit of tax-collecting supercats, who were responsible for chasing the supercats in Jianghai to pay tax. Mao Mao and his cats were on the blacklist of the tax-collecting unit, classified as parties to be strictly monitored.
Just as Mao Mao and his underlings chanted their catchphrase, Red Packet and Fish Ball had arrived on the other end of the field and slowly walked towards Mao Mao.
Both parties locked eyes and Fish Ball dropped the bag of catmint held in his mouth as he asked, “Here are the goods, where’s the money?”
Mao Mao let his underling push a luggage forward. Opening the luggage revealed a mountain of coins and some notes scattered around. “The money is all here. I want to inspect the goods!”
Fish Ball nodded and Mao Mao looked at the multi-colored cat beside him. The multi-colored cat walked up and slashed the bag of catmint with his paw, leaving some catmint dust on his paw. He sniffed the bag slightly before breaking into a relaxed smile.
He nodded at Mao Mao and said, “There’s no problem Boss, it’s the real stuff.”
Fish Ball continued, “Don’t worry Mao Mao, our Dust Ball Catmint has always been the purest.”
“Business is still business. I have so many cat brothers under me, so I have to be careful.” Mao Mao gestured to his underlings, who proceeded to push the money to Fish Ball.
Just as Fish Ball was about to take the money, sirens rang out from all directions as rays of bright light flashed in the sky.
“It’s the police!” Mao Mao hollered at Fish Ball, “Fish Ball! You tricked me?!”
A loud meowing sounded out, “You’re caught red-handed! You guys are involved in unlicensed transactions and evading tax! You have all been surrounded, stop resisting and surrender yourselves!”
Fish Ball stuck out his paw instantly and snatched back his catmint, shouting, “There are too many police officers here. Today’s transaction is canceled. Let’s all try to escape!”
