Chapter 1003: Skill Selection

After studying the skill book, Zhao Yao understood that to learn the awareness skill required time and energy and he had to learn step by step.
With Book’s ability, he was able to collate the skill book’s information before learning. He had to make full use of this advantage.
The invisible Zhao Yao studied another skill book.
For the next few days, Zhao Yao spent the day training in the Cat Slave Hall before sneaking into the library to study skill books late into the night. Then he returned to Earth to rest.
After researching a week in the library, Zhao Yao discovered the problem.
“The apprentice area only has orange level skills and qualified cat slaves can go to the second and third floor where the maroon level skill books are located.”
Zhao Yao looked at the two maroon level skill books and frowned. “There are no high level skill books in Cat Slave Hall. Do I have to look in other places?”
Besides the skill book problem, Diana had reached the upper limit and was unable to level up. Book created a new mission to unlock the upper limit.
Mission: Unlock Level Limit
Mission Objective: BOOK requires more high level supercats to evolve. Upgrade five supercats to Level 25.
Reward: Unlocked Level 25 Limit
Mission Penalty: None.
Zhao Yao stroked his chin and thought, “I’ve to upgrade five supercats to Level 25? I’ll upgrade Level 12 Catherine first.”
As he could not find more powerful skills, he picked two skill books for Diana to test.
Maroon Level Skill: Scorching Sun, the power of awareness is converted to hot flames scalding your opponent. It multiplies damage from power of awareness.
Maroon Level Skill: Crystal, improves toughness of awareness and increases resistance against attacks from power of awareness.
“One attack and one defense skill, they’re the best skills in this library.” Zhao Yao licked his lips. “I’ll test both of them.”
Do you expend 20 000 experience points for Diana to learn Maroon Level Skill: Scorching Sun?
Zhao Yao agreed in his awareness and Book deducted 20 000 experience points and read Book: Lv8(51317/100 000).
“Orange level skill requires 10 000 experience points while maroon level skill requires 20 000? I’ve to continue accumulation of experience points.” Zhao Yao thought about it and he decided to let his supercats earn experience points themselves.
“I’m the only one earning experience points while they lay in wait for level upgrades. If I have more cats in the future, how long will it take for them to upgrade?”
Zhao Yao discovered that Diana’s panel had a new skill table. One of the items was Scorching Sun while three were empty.
“A supercat’s only allowed four skills?”
Zhao Yao tried deleting Scorching Sun.
Do you want to delete Scorching Sun?
Zhao Yao selected no. He did not need to worry about making a wrong choice.
Zhao Yao returned to Earth and he wanted Diana to test out her new skill.
In the sky above Cat Island, Zhao Yao and Diana stood together. Tongues of transparent flames emerged from Zhao Yao and shot towards Diana.
The transparent flames did not scorch Diana’s body as they scalded her awareness.
Diana screamed in pain as she backed off wailing. Her power of awareness exploded and expelled the transparent flames.
“The pain’s killing me!” Diana said furiously. “Zhao Yao, have a taste of your medicine!”
Diana activated Scorching Sun and her power of awareness turned to scorching flames as they engulfed Zhao Yao. He felt a burning sensation even after Diana stopped attacking. It was following him like a real fire.
Zhao Yao had to activate his power of awareness to expel the transparent flames and stop the burning feeling.
“Interesting. This is more powerful than simply attacking with power of awareness and it has a lasting effecting like a real fire.” Zhao Yao analyzed the power of the Scorching Sun. “Those without superpowers would be burnt to death straightaway.”
Zhao Yao thought, “The Short Fur Tribe has been passing down their controlling superpower and various uses of awareness skills.
I wonder how the combat styles of Furless Tribe and the Long Fur Tribe vary.”
According to Zhao Yao’s analysis, at the same level, the Short Fur Tribe used various awareness skills to fight. When pitting themselves against the Furless Tribe and the Long Fur Tribe, they used their power of awareness and their superpowers at the same time.
For example, a battle in the material realm, he could use Time Freeze and his superior constitution to destroy his opponent’s body without using his power of awareness.
If his opponent escaped to the Awareness Dimension, it was not possible to use his superpower. Like Giggle and Tom who possessed other people’s body, it was useless to destroy their bodies.
Zhao Yao expended 20 000 experience points for Diana to learn the Crystal Skill.
This was a passive skill. After learning, Zhao Yao felt Diana’s power of awareness becoming sturdier and more resistant to attacks like the Scorching Sun. There was also less sensitivity to pain.
“It’s not enough and the two skills are not strong. I haven’t learned how to increase the maximum player count of Closers World,” Zhao Yao thought. “Skills related to Closers World must be high level. I’ve to investigate where I can learn skill levels higher than the maroon level.”
On the second day, Zhao Yao went to the Cat Slave Hall to train and find out from the trainer where to learn high level skills.
He discovered that high level skills did not exist in book format but in a dreamscape created by the Short Fur Tribe. Only those who were recommended and led by the supercats could learn high level skills.
“Fortunately, I didn’t abandon this identity.” Zhao Yao thought, “I should perform well and improve my status.”
Zhao Yao suddenly hastened his pace as the apprentices ran around the training arena. He caught up and ran to the front of the group.
Seeing Zhao Yao’s speed, a few apprentices caught up with him as they did not wish to be overtaken.
Zhao Yao’s body had breached normal human standards. With a little effort, he could outrun all apprentices. He led the group from the front to the back without panting. He looked like he had just strolled a few rounds.
