Chapter 170 Walk-In

In the end, Eisen left the hospital with everyone there thanking him for his help, calling him ’Golden-Eyed Demon’ while they did. Usually, Eisen would have expected this to be enough to step on the path of yang, but apparently, it was harder than he thought it would be. Maybe it was because the number of people acknowledging Eisen the Demon as a good person was too low, or it was harder to be seen on that other path because he was already known as a Yin-Demon. Either way, Eisen wouldn’t stop trying to help people out for a while. And he would still be serving the food that he made tonight, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get at least some people to like him.

Although, this all made Eisen think about the Yin and Yang requirements more. To become a Yin-Demon, Eisen needed to scare people, and the majority of the people that were running away from him that day he received the title were more than just frightened. They were terrified for their life. So maybe to become a Yang-Demon, it wasn’t enough to make people simply think he was a good person, but instead he may need to go further than that.

Make people fully trust or admire him even. And all that while he was in the ’Golden-Eyed Demon’ form, which he initially created to look scary in the first place. It may be a bit hard, but in the end, Eisen was sure he would be able to get there at some point. After all the trouble he’d caused in Ornier, he had to pay it back to this world somehow, didn’t he?

With a smile, Eisen looked back at the Nun Noa and crossed his arms. "Alright, let’s get back to the Kitchen now, shall we?" He said, before Noa quickly nodded, but first stood in front of the old man in a Demon’s skin. "Th-Thank you! At first, I was unsure whether or not we should trust you to this extent, but you’ve proven to us that you mean no harm and only want to help. We will never forget your kindness." She exclaimed, and a message popped up in front of Eisen’s eyes.

[A Nun of the Church of Reah, the Goddess of Love, has approved of you]

[Reputation with the Church of Reah increased]

Surprised, Eisen waved the notifications away and smiled at Noa, thankful for getting her approval. "What kind words, thank you. And I will continue helping you, so don’t worry. But I will only be able to come to see you every four days, but you can be sure that I will do so for a while." The old man told her, and Noa nodded with a bright smile before the small group made their way back to the Kitchen, where the rest were already waiting.

Caria and Melissa were sitting in front of a massive pile of different vegetables as if protecting them from Koro as well as Parc and Rouge, who seemed to have only just arrived.

The moment the two little monsters saw Eisen, they ran up to him again and hugged his legs. "Eisen! You’re back!" Caria exclaimed, and Eisen placed his hands on Caria and Melissa’s heads, picking the both of them up into his arms.

"Of course, I am. Thanks for making so many vegetables, you two." Eisen told them, and they both immediately nodded before Eisen walked over to the three young men that would now be helping him cook.

"Alright, we’ll be doing a few different things. For now, we won’t be working on the main dish for tonight, but rather the dessert." Eisen explained before the three boys looked at each other confused.

"Dessert? Really? With what?" Koro curiously asked before Eisen jerked his head over to a crate that was brought in by Kiron, who was advised to be especially careful with everything.

"With those eggs, of course. First, you guys split the yolk from the whites for about two-thirds of the eggs there, alright? Koro, I think you know how to already, but please properly show Parc and Rouge if they don’t." Eisen told them before the three boys got to work enthusiastically, while Eisen was waiting for another person to arrive with some items that he had requested.

And it seemed like her timing was just right, as an exceptionally cheerful Fey-Kin stepped through the kitchen door with a massive backpack on her back. "Delivery~!" She exclaimed with a bright smile, placing the pack down onto the ground. Quickly, Eisen placed Caria and Melissa down and helped Bree grab the items out of the bag.

"Thanks for coming. I messaged Xenia, but I wasn’t sure if she was still with you and Dien. Do you want to stay here and watch, or do you want to leave with Dien again?" Eisen asked, looking up at the Half-Elf standing behind Bree with a light smile. But quickly, Bree shook her head. "Dien said he grew up here, so he wanted to meet some people he knows from here, so I’m coming with him." She said before Noa turned around and looked at Dien more closely, before perking her head up.

"Oh! So it was you! What a nice surprise, Dien. I thought you left Handor?" The nun asked Dien, engaging in a conversation with him about the old days. Seemingly, Noa, who was also an Elf, although she was hiding her ears, and Dien grew up in the orphanage together, and while Noa stayed to become a Nun here, Dien left to become an Adventurer.

So, seeing how the both of them knew each other, Noa, Dien and Bree made their way to the orphanage area together, while Eisen now had all the items he needed, which were mainly made up of a large number of mana crystals, as well as some Soul Generators.

"Koro, is there any empty rooms directly adjacent to here?" The old man asked, before Koro nodded, taking a break from splitting the eggs, and led Eisen to a small, empty room. There were no windows, and it was already naturally cool in there, so it was indeed the perfect space to build the walk-in refrigerator Eisen was planning right now.

"Perfect. Alright, this should take a little bit. When you finished with the eggs, please get these ingredients ready." Eisen told Koro before handing him a sheet of paper before the young man quickly nodded and walked back to Parc and Rouge.

Now, quite curious at what Eisen was about to make, Kiron, Caria, Melissa, and Sky all looked at the old man as he placed the materials down onto the ground. But the first one to ask a question was Sky. "So, what are we doing in here? Are you going to make something to help them make food while you’re gone and don’t want them to see?" He asked before Eisen shook his head with a laugh.

"No, no, it’s not that. I’m simply making a Walk-In refrigerator with a freezer unit." Eisen explained before Sky tilted his head to the side a slight bit, before Kiron said something in regards to this, seeing that Sky didn’t know what that was.

"As far as I know, this is simply a tool to keep different things cool, is it not? I think it may help to preserve food as well. I heard that noble houses and well-known restaurants have these, and because they require a lot of mana, they can’t be maintained by regular people." Kiron explained, saying what he remembered hearing about during his travels before Sky looked at him and Eisen in wonder.

"Really? Something like that? When I was still living with my mother in her hometown, there were some Snow-Fey that would do that kind of thing." Sky told them before Eisen quietly laughed.

"Well, that’s interesting, isn’t it? Exactly, but yeah, that’s what a refrigerator is. And a freezer is still a bit colder, and it’s something made to freeze things literally. If my Enchanting rank was higher, then I would use Dien’s Frost Magic through ability enchanting for this, but right now I have to use the basic runes. Depending on how high my enchanting skill gets while we’re in Handor, I may think about switching it out to make it more efficient." The old man told them as he cracked his knuckles and touched his chest underneath his leather apron, deleting the runes for the ’cooking’ skill, carving the one for alchemy with a thin needle instead.

And after activating the skills he needed to, Eisen began to work. First, using transmutation, he smoothed down the brick walls a bit more so that they were a better surface to work with, and then began to coat them in a thin mana-crystal layer, just enough so that Eisen could properly carve on it.

It was so thin that you could barely even see what it was, and could only notice a light glitter as the soft light from Eisen’s flames hit the walls. "Alright, now, let’s get to work," Eisen said with a smile as he sat down on the ground first and created the most integral part of the walk-in. A complex enchantment made to control the other four that would be placed on three of the walls, excluding the one with the door, which Eisen would enchant with something that kept the cold air from leaking outside, and the wall opposite to the door, which Eisen would use for the freezer. And then, Eisen would also place five of the Soul Generators into that complex enchantment on the floor. Eisen had a rough idea of how much mana it would take to keep this thing running continuously, and three would be enough for that, but since he also wanted to connect the much-smaller freezer section to this enchantment, he added the other two for safety.

So, after the first enchantment circle was done, Eisen moved on to the other ones. And before Eisen tested everything, he made some small shelves out of mana crystals as well, considering that mana crystals were near to impossible to break without extraordinary means. Then added another thin mana-crystal wall to the back of the room, which Eisen turned into a freezer by adding a more intense version of the different ’cooling’ enchantments onto the walls of the inside of that small area, creating a simple door to that freezer as well.

Satisfied with how this room turned out, Eisen now quickly placed the Soul Generators into the holes on the floor, activating the whole thing. Immediately, the group was hit with a flood of cold, giving them all shivers. At first, Eisen thought that everything worked out, but it seemed like he was a little bit off, and the main room turned out too cold.

So, Eisen erased some of the runes and switched some stuff around here and there to fix it, and then the old man was satisfied. It didn’t take too long to make this considering what Eisen was doing, but when he left the room, Koro, Parc, and Rouge had already finished with their task. Before they continued working on everything, they brought all of the perishable food items that were currently being haphazardly stored around the kitchen into the walk-in fridge and freezer.
