Chapter 667 - An Old Fling?!

Chapter 667: An Old Fling?!

Xia Ning waited until Gao Wanhua got back and only left after she handed Enoch to the latter.

She called Wen Yue this morning, asking after her condition. Wen Yue said she went back home after staying overnight at the hospital. Therefore, Xia Ning went to Wen Yue’s place first.

Xia Ning frowned when Wen Yue answered the door, looking full of energy. She looked her up and down. “I thought you fell.”

“I did, but it was no big deal.” Wen Yue smiled and made way to let Xia Ning in.

Xia Ning darted a look at her, then walked in.

She spotted two large suitcases in the living room as soon as she was inside.

Xia Ning turned to look at Wen Yue. “Are you going somewhere?”

“I’m moving in with Mu Zichen.” Wen Yue came in after Xia Ning and said with a smile.

Seeing the confident look on her face, as if she had everything under control, Xia Ning frowned. “Don’t rush things. If you go into it with an agenda, you won’t be happy even if you get what you want in the end.”

Wen Yue looked at Xia Ning, then sighed. “Asteria, you’re as sharp as always. But I think I’ve gotten what I wanted. He offered to look after me and he was the one asking me to move in with him.”

“Do you know why he asked you to move in? Is it because of you, the baby, or some other reason?” Xia Ning retorted.

Wen Yue frowned at Xia Ning. “What difference does it make? The baby is inside me. One way or another, it’s the same.”

Wen Yue’s words made Xia Ning want to laugh. Men were emotional creatures and they sometimes obeyed their women not because of love, but the so-called responsibility. However, women were sentimental. At the end of the day, all they wanted was love. Things would get very complicated if they realized that love wasn’t the reason.

“Wen Yue, answer me this. Do you love children?” Xia Ning asked all of a sudden.

It caught Wen Yue by surprise. She then said with a smile. “Asteria, what are you talking about? Of course, I love children.”

“If Mu Zichen isn’t this baby’s father, will you still love it?” Xia Ning asked.

“That’s never going to happen!” Wen Yue said grimly.

Xia Ning nodded. “Yes, you won’t let that happen.” She then narrowed her eyes. “But Wen Yue, you don’t love this baby enough.”

Wen Yue’s face darkened. She wouldn’t let anyone deny her love for his baby, not even Asteria.

“Would you still threaten Mu Zichen with this baby’s life if you really loved it?” Xia Ning said suddenly. “Has it ever occurred to you that your so-called accidental fall could have killed the baby?!”

Wen Yue opened her mouth, trying to retort, but she couldn’t find anything to say. She didn’t think that much when she did it. She was sure that nothing would happen to the baby. She thought she had everything under control.

“I didn’t come here for you and Mu Zichen. I only hope that you can show some respect for the baby’s life.” Xia Ning met Wen Yue’s eyes. “A woman’s life shouldn’t revolve around one man. I hope you remember that.” She then turned to leave.

Pursing her lips, Wen Yue stared at Xia Ning from behind. “Then why are you still with Qiao Yu? You can’t forget about your old fling, can you?”

Xia Ning paused, hesitated for a moment, then said in an indifferent tone. “So what if I can’t. But I know this: Qiao Yu is nothing like Mu Zichen. Keep this in mind.” She then opened the door and walked out, frowning when she felt the cold wind in the corridor against her cheeks. Closing the door behind her, she headed for the elevator.

Wen Yue drew in her breath as she looked at the closed door, realizing that she had just asked a dumb question. There was no way Asteria would stay with Qiao Yu forever.
