Chapter 327 Don't Do It Too Late

By the time Lena did decide to make her way back to the room, Julian no longer seemed to be there. Temporary departure based upon the fact that all of his items still seemed to have been left behind. The princess snorted at this. Could she hold grudges? Absolutely. She\'d not forgiven Jovani for everything after all. Even less so after recent events. When it came to family? Maybe not so much as others. Her uncle didn\'t actually get anyone killed even if she almost did it herself.

"Father. I wonder what you would have to say if you knew what was going on out here while you\'re away inside your head." Lena spoke softly, sweeping the hair out of her father\'s face.

The doctor had come by earlier to remove some of the tubes but there were fair too many for the Princess\'s liking not to mention he still couldn\'t breathe on his own. It would be another week. Maybe two before anything would change. Lena tsked as she took a seat next to his bed.

As much as she would\'ve loved to have been able to stay by her father\'s side, no way could she stay away from everything for two weeks. Unless Julian wanted to step up and be the one to do it, Lean would eventually have to go back to taking everything over. At least until her father got into better shape.

"I know that you probably don\'t want to but-"

"Don\'t say anything. I think we can both agree right now isn\'t the time to discuss this. I made a mistake. One we can go about discussing once my father has woken up. I don\'t want anything to eat if you\'re trying to offer me food." Lena knew her uncle had entered the room before he even spoke. Her sixth sense told her as much the moment she could sense that someone stood in the doorway.

"I didn\'t come to tell you that you made any mistake. I don\'t think that you did in the slightest. I know where you\'re coming from, my decision was based upon something else entirely." Julian kept his tone level with the soft way that the princess had spoken to him as he entered the room. He set down the two cups of soup on the table before turning to face the princess.

"I don\'t think there is any reason for us to bring up this matter later. You did what you thought you needed to do today. Honestly, I am the one who should apologize for not having discussed this matter with you sooner." Julian wanted to give his niece a hug but refrained as he could tell by her stiff body language right now wasn\'t the time for any type of physical contact.

"We do need to talk about this at a later point in time, just not the way that you think the conversation should go. This is one situation where I made the mistake and this matter should be addressed from that perspective. I do wish though that you would consider eating something. Even I know that my brother wouldn\'t be happy to know you\'re not touching anything during this time." Lena pulled a face at her uncle\'s comment, a rather sour one.

She knew that to be a fact. It wasn\'t enough of one however to encourage her to get the storm brewing inside herself to eat and keep it down. Not after the build-up of everything that took place over the past few days. The biggest of all so far being that she sent Samuel away.

"Jovani will likely be returning later tonight or tomorrow. I think however that it will be a few days before Sammy decides to join us back here. It might be best if you decide to take the other bed for the night." The princess spoke without facing her uncle. Choosing to instead continue tending to her father in a uncharacteristically soft way.

They might not have gotten along in regards to the whole marriage thing that he\'d wanted to put her through, that didn\'t mean she cared any less for him than she did prior to that event. Lena just didn\'t always like to have to deal with what other people wanted her to do. Knowing that certain family members didn\'t understand such things despite knowing the underlying reason why made it harder for her.

People who went through loss should understand best why someone would want to avoid going through loss a second time if at all possible. In fact, today proved more than ever that Lena had been right to consider that avoiding getting into any kind of relationship would\'ve been the right choice for her. Sammy might even think the same thing after what happened between them. Lena had to fight back the lump that wanted to form in her throat at the mere thought of that. Right now, wasn\'t the time to be having such feelings.

"Eat the soup. I will figure out something to eat later. I\'m not in the right mood for it right now." Lena turned away from her father but instead of going toward her uncle, she went back over to the window.

She would\'ve considered heading back outside for some fresh air if not for the fact that the wind seemed to be about as dead as she currently felt inside. There wouldn\'t be anything enjoyable about going out in that. Unless she managed to spot the one person that she wanted to do something about. Pity that Jovani changed things up so that she couldn\'t go back to the prisoner containment space without him. It wasn\'t like she\'d really done that much damage without him being there. At least nothing that he wouldn\'t be able to take care of with minimal loss.

"Suit yourself. I still think though that you should consider getting something sooner rather than later. After everything that took place, it would be better before it gets dark." Lena knew what her uncle was trying to tell her without him directly saying it.

The hospital staff wouldn\'t want her wandering around at night on her own after what took place.
