Chapter 89: Katia, Hadora, and Drooftur
Chapter 89: Katia, Hadora, and Drooftur
The rectangular slab could be adjusted to pull out a handle from each end on one side; present on the other side was a rotor that could also extend out. The rotor only had the related mechanisms in place. There were no blades attacked to it.
The blades would be the energy blades that could expand to a length necessary to carry them respectively.
There were two rotors in total: The big one that lifted his weight, and the small one facing the front that worked in stabilising the flight.
Even the shape of the rectangular slab was created as an aerofoil to increase the stability of flight and to allow better aerial manoeuvring.
“Impressive,” Compass Carburettor remarked, feeling the smooth but sturdy sensation of the Darble body of the Katia. It wasn’t too heavy and could be actuated like an Armament. The moment he activated it, it would expand from its form as a rectangular slab into the hand-held copter necessary to take flight.
Similarly, when deactivated, it returned to its original state as a rectangular slab. This allowed better portability and use of the Puppet—Katia.
Compass Carburettor placed it aside, picking up Hadora, the name given to the gun that the engineer had created. Its design was different from the guns on earth. After all, the bullets didn’t have any gunpowder in them.
The bullets would be sent into the barrel from its chamber by an energy blade that activated automatically while using the Puppet. And, there existed an Armament at the backend of the barrel that unleashed an energy blade of dimensions similar to the barrel’s interior, expanding to its maximum length of 10 metres. This action would propel the bullet forward, sending it flying towards the target.
Though the force of impact was inferior in comparison to attacking directly with the energy blade, it still gave him the advantage of range. Moreover, Compass Carburettor had experience in using a gun.
After all, he had gone for gun shooting for sport numerous times on Earth. He was well-versed in handling every type of firearm. So, he was more comfortable with using a gun.
Compass Carburettor inspected the bullet chamber, smiling, “Great, I can install 100 bullets in here.”
There was only one cartridge—the one installed it the gun. As it was made using Darble, the engineer didn’t create a spare. It was fine though, since Compass Carburettor only planned to use it as diversionary tactics.
For that, 100 bullets were enough. He could simply reload them with more bullets while Duchess was providing cover fire. After all, there were two guns now.
“So, he named them Hadora. That’s a great name.” He smiled, waving it a couple of times as he practiced entering a stance using it, focusing as he felt a prickling sensation, activating it, aiming at the ground as he shot ten rounds before stopping, “The impact force is great.”
The sounds produced while firing the bullets weren’t loud. After all, the energy blades propelled the bullets in contrast to them being propelled through an explosion in the guns on Earth.
The sound wasn’t louder than a stapler stapling a stack of papers.
After familiarising himself with the gun, Compass Carburettor walked towards the patch on the ground where he had shot the bullets, crouching as he inspected the extent of damage to the place, fishing out the bullets as he muttered, “Great, they haven’t been damaged.”
They were iron bullets and were tremendously heavy. So, they weren’t damaged when they slammed into the ground. Compass Carburettor then picked up a bag of bullets from the trunk, pocketing them as he inspected the final puppet—Drooftur.
Drooftur was a puppet that would make bullets from wood. As he needed to do was activate it and manipulate its mechanisms. It was able to saw through wood and then insert tiny pieces of wood into its body to grind them into the bullets.
Even though the wooden bullets were incomparably inferior to iron bullets, he would have an endless supply of them. That was the reason he had requested for it to be created.
The Drooftur was the heaviest puppet of them all, weighing eight kilograms. But, thanks to his Skill of Strength, Compass Carburettor was able to carry it without suffering any reduction in his running pace.
He then looked at the bottom of the trunk, noticing a bag that had been created using the chitin armour of the Grogars. Sections had been created in it to perfectly house each of the three Puppets. The remaining space was to place all their other tools and travel rations.
Compass Carburettor and Duchess packed all their belongings in the bag as it was sturdier, finally picking out the fourth item from the trunk.
Darble Puppet—Spydragon!
The engineer had sent two of them, one for each. Compass Carburettor used its Darlac Connection Point to refine it, soon forming a connection to it. He then manipulated it, causing it to take off to the air, muttering, impressed, “This is a lot smoother to use than the others. My Darlac expenditure is also lower.”
Once they had familiarised themselves with all four Puppets, Duchess instructed a couple of Grogars to return and clean up the place. She and Compass Carburettor activated their respective Katia, watching its rotors spin as they held it firmly.
“Hahaha!” Compass Carburettor laughed as his body was lifted from the ground. He then watched Duchess facing some difficulties before her instinct as a Grogar allowed her to perfectly stabilise herself in the air.
Carrying their respective bags, they increased in altitude as he nodded in praise, “The Puppet is holding up great. It’s also able to handle the extra weight from the bags we carry.”
“I feel like the engineer has created them to carry the two of us if the situation deems necessary. He’s exceeded what we have asked him.” Duchess remarked.
“Indeed, you’re right.” Compass Carburettor laughed, causing the Katia to fly forward as they arrived at the airspace above the Bureta Forest, noticing the Fektra within stir up a little at the sounds made by the two rotors.
