Chapter 35

“Why does this dragon look smaller?” Kyle Leonard pulled the child towards him, examining his appearance.

“Mu said I’d be more tired if he got bigger, so he decided to keep his baby-like figure. Thanks to him, I’m going to live today.” Park Noah explained while slurping her soup.

“I’m glad to hear that. You should live a regular life. Get up on time, eat on time, and sleep on time. These three things aren’t that difficult…”

“Sir, do you know what the worst thing is for a patient?”

Kyle Leonard frowned, waiting for her answer. Park Noah pointed a spoon at him and narrowed her eyes, “Nagging.”

“…..”

“Especially when they’re eating.” She added.

The investigator merely turned his back, completely ignoring her as if she was not worth his attention. Park Noah watched him as he disappeared into the living room, muttering something under his breath.

Kyle Leonard paused, glancing around the room. After a moment’s silence, he started to clean the clutter sprawled about the floor.

“Put the curtains down completely, sir. Oh, please close the windows, too. I can’t afford a thief.” Park Noah yelled from the kitchen.

“I am not your butler. Don’t tell me what to do.” However, despite his grumbling, Kyle Leonard snapped the windows shut and pulled the curtains down. There was a contradiction between his words and actions.

Park Noah sneaked a peek at the investigator and thought, ‘Maybe he’s doing everything I say because I cried… I should cry more.’ Her lips curled into a mischievous smile.

She emptied her bowl, savoring every sip. She beamed at the thought of more meals prepared by Kyle Leonard.

However, it seemed that her luxury would see its end today.

“I’m going back to the capital.”

Park Noah raised her head from the tea she sipped — a tea which Kyle Leonard had brewed for her earlier. Across her was the investigator, cross-legged, his violet eyes fixed on the journal clutched on his one hand.

“Since you’ve been excluded from the list of suspects, we’re going to go look into the next suspects. If we catch the criminal, we’ll know who imprinted with the dragon first. I’ll inform you once I find him. Meanwhile…” Kyle Leonard glanced at her.

“Just stay here.”

“Just stay?”

“Do you know that? If you disappear, will that damn woman come back?” Kyle Leonard asked, his gaze as cold as ice. He seemed to bear no regret at all for Eleonora’s death. After all, five years of chasing a culprit would have made you hate her. Park Noah shrugged it off, thinking it was none of her business.

She fell into a deep thought, resting her chin on her palm. Come to think of it, there was a very fundamental cause for all that had transpired. Chaos and confusion ensued when the story deviated from its original plot, and it all began with Eleonora Asil’s mysterious death.

Why and how did infamous witch, Eleonora, die?

“If Eleonora Asil’s death is not suicide, it’s murder. We will go back and investigate it separately. Who killed that woman for what reason?” Kyle Leonard said, closing his journal.

“Hmm…”

“It would be better not to use magic as much as possible. It’s a recommendation.”

Park Noah stared at the violet eyes, “Don’t I have to accompany you?”

“Where are you going with that body?” Kyle Leonard asked back. In his head, Park Noah must have been a lost cause.

“So you’re going up to the capital anyway.” She mumbled softly, nodding her head.

“Yes.”

Park Noah sighed, stroking her fingers on the empty bowl sadly. Suddenly, an idea crossed her mind. “Sir, I’m going downtown today, so let’s go together,” she grinned.

“Why should I?”

“It’s part of the investigation.” Park Noah snorted and guffawed like a madman as she outsmarted the investigator. But, amidst her laughs, she didn’t miss the twitch in Kyle Leonard’s eyes in the slightest.

Park Noah has learned a lot about the investigator under his care: the grim workaholic won’t even budge despite countless persuasions unless given logical reasons. In other words, if a person simply says that it is related to the investigation, Kyle Leonard will yield.

Sure enough, Kyle Leonard acquiesced, but with a look of great displeasure. “Prepare and come out, then.”

“Wow, what a kind investigator.”

“I will not accompany you because I want to be kind. Go upstairs right now. Is it going to take another month to get ready?” Kyle Leonard was completely aggravated.

Park Noah rose from her seat, snickering. As she was about to head to her bedroom to change, holding a sleepy Mu, she said nonchalantly, “Call me Noah.”

“Pardon?” The investigator, who was straightening the wrinkled tablecloth, paused. Park Noah pretended to be indifferent.

“You called me by my name yesterday, but I was wondering why I haven’t heard it from you today. Call me Noah. It’s also a nickname for Eleonora…Nora, Noah, what? Well, anyway, it’s Noah.” She rambled, losing her composure. Then, she coughed in attempt to cover her embarrassment.

Suddenly, Kyle Leonard rose from his seat and embraced Mu.

Man, that’s weird.

“I’ll get ready and finish in five minutes.” Park Noah hurried to her bedroom. Halfway upstairs, she glanced behind and saw Kyle Leonard cleaning the cup she used. All of a sudden, she heard something which caused a faint smile to form in her lips.

“Don’t disorganize the room, Miss Noah. If you make it a goblin den again, I won’t clean it up.”

Oh, my. Why didn’t you answer me right away?

“You think I’m just making a mess…” Park Noah mumbled. Still, it was quite pleasant to have two people call her with her true name. One may not be human, but what about it?

Soon, she entered her room with great satisfaction.
