Chapter 38 Morgans
The Morgan family is an American family and banking dynasty, which became prominent in the U.S. and throughout the world in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Members of the family amassed an immense fortune over the generations, primarily through the noted work of J. P. Morgan.
Morgan members were notable for dominating the banking industry during their time. J. P. Morgan was the de facto leader of this dynasty, having been the most prominent businessman in America at the turn of the century. He revolutionized numerous industries, including electricity, railroad, and steel. Through his business methods, he was highly successful in asserting his power as one of the most influential businessmen in America.
Many people describe the Morgan family, along with its web of partners to be part of the large American banking empire known as the House of Morgan.
The current head of the family is in his sixties named Nathaniel Morgan. He is a pure businessman with a witty personality. He had yet to hand over the business to a later generations; it\'s not like he didn\'t trust them. He wanted them to grow more in their field, which would be best for them as being a person in power comes with lots of pressure. There were lots of hungry wolves waiting for a piece of the pie, and they had to prepare for it accordingly.
He has two children, one son and a daughter. His son Miles, along with nine legitimate heirs are fighting for the position. They have each been given a company through which the elders of the family will test their potential. Though there were nine people in the contest ; the best among them are two; his son and son of his younger brother, Huldah.
Miles is calm, calculative but lacked experience. He never took risks in fear of losing, which made him unable to seize great opportunities.
Huldah, on the other hand, is a hard-headed individual. He has talent but never wants to be undermined by others. His recent success has made him callous. He is manipulative and achieves his goals, which is not a bad attribute for a leader, but he needs to balance it out to be truly successful.
They both posses talents, but they have to polish it further to gain the elder\'s approval. Nathaniel never favored anyone as he wanted to give everyone a fair opportunity.
A few days ago he got an invite to attend a party organized by Rothchild; There was friction between the two families a few decades ago but now both families became amicable after his daughter, Laura\'s marriage.
Robert convinced them to work together instead of standing on opposite aisles. The corporation between them clearly encouraged both families to reach new heights, which made them acknowledge their union. He had to attend the occasion to show some face to the opposing family. It could also be a good opportunity for Miles and Huldah to further their own connections and grow further. It will definitely be a gathering of industry giants, which doesn\'t happen often. His daughter also insisted for him to attend, citing that she had to discuss something important.
It has been a few years since they talked; both were prideful people and Nathanial knew her daughter well. Though he felt distressed about her marriage in the past ; he couldn\'t be mad forever. Laura is his precious daughter, whom he has raised with ample love since her birth. He is happy that this could be the way for them to resolve their differences from the past; but he is also troubled by the sudden call of her daughter. He feared that she wanted his help, or, worse, that Rothchild was mistreating her.
He suppressed these thoughts with great difficulty; He is never afraid of the Rothchild\'s, even if his family is slightly weaker. He could make things difficult for them through different means if it ever came to his daughter. Last time he backed down, seeing Laura\'s resolve for her love; but he had seen countless of such cases in the past. He would never allow his daughters to be harmed.
He is currently sitting in the VIP lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport, mulling over his thoughts. He had his trusted secretary, Arnold with him; They are discussing various scenarios. Arnold is his one true confidant who always advises him about his business. He is also his closest friend whom he grew up with.
" Arnold, do you truly believe that Laura is alright? she was very cryptic when I was talking to her earlier. I cann\'t help but worry." Nathaniel said.
" I dont think you have to worry about her that much. I have investigated about her husband and the family; they have decent personality. If Laura was truly mistreated, she would have informed us earlier. She is no ordinary girl herself. We have witnessed her countless shenanigans and you have to remember her coutless \'Victims\' which would come knocking on our doorstep complaining about her unruly nature. Who knew the \' Demoness of Morgan\' would ever fall in love?" Arnold added, reminiscing about the past.
" But she never called me these few years and the her first request after all this time is to invite me to meet her. I cann\'t help but worry. " Nathaniel said, but he calmed down somewhat after Arnold\'s persuasion.
They were talking when the other two people who will follow him on this trip. Miles and Huldah entered along with their own people and greeted Nathaniel and Arnold.
There is certain tension in the air, but they knew better than to cause trouble in front of the head. Competition between them is truly fierce, but never to the point of extreme. It is a rule to never cause harm to any heir physically; but they could all the other methods. One door is closed, but several doors of possibility were there.
" Good morning brother, Miles. I hope our journey this time will be fruitful." Huldah said.
" Good morning Little brother, Huldah. Yes, I hope we can gain something on this trip. I haven\'t seen little Laura all these years. These were truly peaceful years but I somewhat feel sad at the same time. " Miles said, of remembering the past.
" Please lets keep it civil until we return back from UK. I don\'t want to disturb big sister Laura in any shape or form. It was hell back then when I had to endure her oppression." Huldah shuddered at the thought of facing the demoness.
No matter who it was from the younger generation of Morgan and other prominent families, they endured the demoness\'s rule which made them natural allies-in arms. They may fight among them all the time, but facing the demoness will awaken their inner brotherhood. Such was the fear of Laura in a rich second-generation.
They quietly followed Nathaniel forming a pact for the time being, and boarded their private jet.
