Chapter 116: The Beast Tide Recedes, The Ultimate Arcana

Chapter 116: The Beast Tide Recedes, The Ultimate Arcana

In the end, the Goldwing Holy Light Tiger was killed the same way as all the other Class 7 Direbeasts that had been killed by Ling Jiu; it was killed with a long sword through the brain.

When its massive body came crashing down from the sky, all of the trainees were stunned.

“Ling... Ling Jiu killed a Class 7 Direbeast?”

“Oh, my God! He actually killed a Class 7 Direbeast! I must be seeing things!”

“Is Ling Jiu so strong to the point that he can now kill a Class 7 Direbeast?”

“Bloody hell! I’m already at my limits killing a Class 6 Direbeast, and here he is going around killing the Class 7 ones? Has the gap between me and him really reached such an extent?”

The trainees were shocked to the core. Whenever their trainers killed a Class 7 Direbeast, they would cheer and not be that surprised.

Just on the other side, the four trainers had completely suppressed the other four Class 7 Direbeast, and by the looks of things, it was only a matter of time before the Direbeasts would be killed.

The trainees were not surprised by this because those were the trainers of the training camp, and they possessed that kind of strength.

Who was Ling Jiu again?

He was just like them, a trainee of the super training camp. Yet, he could kill a Class 7 Direbeast?

You had to be joking!

“Yuhe, our teamwork’s getting better and better now!”

Ling Jiu collected the carcass of the Goldwing Holy Light Tiger and could not help but look at Ai Yuhe. His eyes were burning, scorching even.

“Yeah... Yeah!”

Ai Yuhe blushed as Ling Jiu looked at her. Her heart was beating fast like that of a hyperactive fawn. “He actually looked at me like that. Could it be...”

“A Dimensional Lock is a really good Arcana. Right now, I still need Ai Yuhe’s help to kill a Class 7 Direbeast. Once I replicate the Dimensional Arcana, I should be able to kill a Class 7 Direbeast alone!”

A thought came to Ling Jiu’s mind. “The next Arcana to be replicated is Ai Yuhe’s Dimensional Arcana then!”

Without the Class 7 Direbeasts holding the fort, the Beast Tide finally appeared to recede.

The moment this withdrawal started, things instantly went out of control, especially without the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon stopping them. More and more Direbeasts fled into the distance in the process.

When the remaining Direbeasts saw this, they lost their will to fight. All of them turned around and fled.

In just a few breaths, the Direbeasts on all fronts had fled!

“It’s receding!”

“The Beast Tide is receding!”

“We’ve won! We’ve won!”

Seeing the Beast Tide recede, the trainees at the city’s bulwark cheered loudly. Although many were exhausted, they still looked energetic.

“We’ve finally defeated them!”

Ling Jiu looked in the direction, in which the camp commandant and the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon left. “I wonder if the camp commandant has killed the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon?”

“With the camp commandant’s ability, killing the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon would be child’s play!”

Zhou Ji had appeared behind Ling Jiu without him noticing. “The camp commandant is a Level 9 Arcanist after all!”

“A Level 9 Arcanist?”

Ling Jiu looked at Zhou Ji in shock. “The camp commandant is a Level 9 Arcanist?”

“Of course!”

Zhou Ji looked at Ling Jiu with a complicated gaze. “The Australian continent has several Class 9 Direbeasts in it. With the camp commandant as the leader of the camp, our super training camp would have been long overrun by the Class 9 Direbeasts if he did not have the ability to fight them!”

“Makes sense!”

Ling Jiu suddenly understood.

“Ling Jiu, you’re about to strike gold!”

Zhou Ji was very envious. “With your talent and the current strength you’ve displayed, it won’t be long before you go to the Ultimate Preparatory Camp!”

“The Ultimate Preparatory Camp?”

Ling Jiu raised his eyebrows. He had heard about it from the camp commandant before.

Ultimate!

It referred to the Ultimate Arcanist!

Level 1s or 2s were low-level Arcanists...

Level 3s to 4s were intermediate-level Arcanists...

Level 5s to 6s were High-level Arcanists...

Level 7s to 8s were Elite Arcanists...

Lastly, Level 9s to 10s were Ultimate Arcanists.

As the name implied, the Ultimate Preparatory Camp was a place to nurture Level 9 and Level 10 Arcanists!

Level 9 and 10 Arcanists!

Even across the billions of humans on earth, only a handful had reached such a level. One could see how rare a Level 9 or Level 10 Arcanist was.

“For our batch, the one with the most promise to join the Ultimate Preparatory Camp is you!” Zhou Ji said, full of envy.

“By the time you get out of there, you will at least be a Level 9 Arcanist. Pff, I’m dying of envy here!”

“Huh, that’s just conjecture!”

Ling Jiu waved his hand. “Let’s wait until we graduate from the super training camp first. That’s just too far away now!”

“You’re right!”

Zhou Ji nodded slightly.

On the other side, the four trainers had also killed the four Class 7 Direbeasts at last. As a result... the Beast Tide collapsed even more thoroughly.

Not long after, all of the surviving Direbeasts turned tail, leaving only carcasses lying all over the place and pooled rivers of blood.

“We’ve won!”

“The Beast Tide sure is scary!”

“Things went much better this time! Normally, if there was a Beast Tide outbreak in a medium or small base city, they would often suffer grievous losses. In contrast, we were very lucky this time with no casualties at all!”

“It’s not all down to luck. We’re basically a gathering of the world’s top newbies. Besides, it was only with the help of the camp commandant and the other trainers that we managed to push the Beast Tide back.

“How’s the camp commandant doing?”

“Look over there!” someone among the crowd shouted.

Everyone looked over, only to see a burly figure fly over from a distance and instantly appear before them.

The person had white hair and was in good spirits.

Was that not the camp commandant?

“The camp commandant is back!”

“The camp commandant is finally back!”

“Say, did the camp commandant actually kill the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon?”

Ling Jiu stared at the camp commandant with eyes full of questions too. If the camp commandant had killed the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon, then the Spring of Life on Mount Kosciusko...

...

When the camp commandant arrived at the city bulwark and saw the piles of Direbeast carcasses, as well as the retreating Beast Tide, he nodded with satisfaction. “All of you did a good job. You managed to beat the Beast Tide and protect the training camp!

“Later, make your claims for the Direbeast carcasses and hand them over to the Logistics Department. They will all count toward your results!”

“Yes, Sir!” all of the trainees responded.

“Very well.”

The camp commandant nodded and prepared to leave. Seeing this, Ling Jiu immediately asked, “Camp Commandant, is the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon dead?”

The other trainees also looked at the camp commandant.

“I could only push it back! I couldn’t kill it, so it’s still alive!”

The camp commandant looked deeply at Ling Jiu before he left.

“Couldn’t kill it?”

“Why couldn’t the camp commandant kill the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon? Does anyone know?”

Hearing this, the trainees all exchanged glances. Even Ling Jiu was similarly puzzled.

“Why couldn’t the camp commandant kill the Three-headed Frostfire Scaled Dragon? What’s the reason?”

...

In the blink of an eye, it was Sunday afternoon again, and the central square was crowded.

“It’s week seven!”

“I wonder how the rankings this week will be?”

“Yeah, because of the Beast Tide last week, many trainees have earned a lot of points. Their results will certainly improve!”

“That’s right! In that half-a-day of defending against the Beast Tide, the number of Direbeasts I killed far exceeded both Thursday and Friday’s. My ranking’s definitely going to skyrocket!”

When the clock hit six, the leaderboard was updated right on time.

“Sure enough!”

“Ling Jiu is number one again!”

“I can’t be bothered to look at the first place anymore. There’s no need for it!”

“Damn! Look at Ling Jiu’s score, isn’t it a little too outrageous?”

“Hissss! That high?!”

“Am I the only one who’s noticed that the second and third places have changed?”
