Chapter 54 The Great Lord System
Chapter 54 The Great Lord System
Time flew by. William had transmigrated to this game five months ago, leaving less and less time for him.
Rainbow Lake was a popular place, attracting waves of magical beasts and wild beasts.
He was like he hardworking herdsman, gleefully harvesting one batch of sheep wool after another.
It had been two weeks since he had last got rid of any magical beasts and he had not seen any new ones since then.
This was quite sad because the magical beasts\' meat given to the army was about to finish…
William sat on the rocking chair with pieces of meat in his hands and he threw it to the three cubs from time to time. Just like playing with a dog, the three cubs, who were one meter tall when standing upright, were jumping and fighting for food. He asked casually, "Are there still no magical beasts appearing at Rainbow Lake?"
Nox nodded. "They\'re gone. Magical beasts have some intelligence. They will be afraid to appear near Rainbow Lake again."
"That\'s good. Send 100 new human recruits to Rainbow Lake and also send some people to build the pier and mountain path." William stood up and went to the vine-covered balcony.
He looked at the town that had been expanded ten times and could be considered a small city now. He suddenly exclaimed, "The construction of the city is coming to an end and many people have no work."
"And farming and fishing are business. When the time comes, just announce this and there will be civilians going to fish!"
"My Lord is wise." Nox laughed.
William waved his hand and Nox ran out to give the orders.
"Roar…" Big Bear suddenly shouted and rushed over with big strides.
"Stop!" William quickly stopped it.
Big Bear stopped at William\'s feet. It raised its head, a puzzled look in its eyes and seemed like it was saying, "Why are you not holding me and play with me?"
William\'s mouth twitched. In the past four months, Big Bear, Bear Two and Bear Three had grown to nearly one meter in height and weighed around 50 kilograms due to the nutritious feeding. How could he be interested in holding it now it was so large?
Although Raging Bear belonged to the magical beasts and needed eight to nine years to grow up, like humans and Elves, they could develop ahead of time as long as they ate food with magic every day.
"You\'re bored, right? Come, follow me to flatten the roads." William went out with the three cubs. The Raging Bears belonged to the earth type magical beasts and were born with earth type magic. Their levels were 15, 14 and 13 respectively, and were all magical beasts entering the beginner levels.
Their power was average, but there was no problem in bullying humans at the same level.
And earth magic was very good for solidifying the road.
The three little fellows followed William through the crowded streets and went out of the city.
According to the instructions of Lord William, the three bears worked hard to cast magic on the road that had just been cleared of trees!
The three cubs clapped on the ground with their claws together and a large piece in front of them was covered by earth magic. After a while, the mud became much more solid and flat.
That was right.
This was \'really\' flattening the road.
"Yes, yes, yes. It\'s protruding out here, use magic here."
"Hey, Bear Three, why are you shouting? I asked you to use earth magic and not little bear roar. Look, the flowers and trees are ruined by you, and it\'s affecting the beauty."
"Bear Two, come back." William\'s mouth twitched and he ran over to grab Bear Two\'s ear, dragging it back. This fellow was the most naughty and wanted to run into the forest every time they went out.
"Look at your big brother. How wonderful and well-behaved he is. There\'ll be an extra meal today!"
After William said \'extra meal\', Big Bear raised its ears and giggled for a while. Then it slapped the ground with its big claws, its magic covering the ground and it worked hard.
Normally the mountain path in the forest did not need too much work, even if it needed to be made stronger, it was enough to pave it with sand and stones.
But every time it rained, the carriage would leave deep wheel marks on the road.
These three cubs ate and slept all day, and were so full of energy, that William had to find something for them to do.
Now, the road to the mythril mine had been reinforced by them and it was nine meters wide so there was no problem with two carriages passing through.
What was being reinforced now was the mountain road leading to the iron ore mine.
As for the roads inside the City of Dawn, it did not need the three cubs to reinforce it.
After all, the rocks in the iron mine were very suitable for being used as stone slabs. Other than mining every day, those hard working Orcs who did not want to be paid also produced many large stones.
Some craftsmen would process the stones on the spot near the ore mine and get them back with carriages, so the roads of the City of Dawn were covered with stone slabs.
Not only were the roads stronger, but it also increased the grandeur.
Three hours later.
William stretched and took the three exhausted cubs back to the town. Today, he had pushed forward 500 meters and he smiled proudly at achieving such a lot.
He glanced at the completed city wall, which was seven meters high and three meters wide. The surface of the wall was as dark as ink and no matter looking at it from a distance or close up, people would think that the wall of the City of Dawn was made of steel…
However.
The interior of the city wall was full of stones and there were only two layers of iron oil on the inside and outside. It looked intimidating and could scare off many enemies who came to attack.
In fact, the real defense ability of the wall was only slightly higher than that of a pure stone wall.
"When will the gate be completed?" William came to have a look at the South gate.
"My Lord, it will be finished in eight days. No, in five days." When a human craftsman saw that the Lord had come for inspection, he decided immediately that even if he worked overtime, he would finish it within five days.
"Good. Just finish it in eight days." William patted him on the shoulder, giving him some encouragement.
William did not need to say much.
As the lord of the city, as a handsome Half-Elf, and as the territory Lord, he was the most honorable existence of the whole City of Dawn.
He was the master of the Troll, Bloody Crusher.
He was the master of the Raging Bears.
He was the royal highness of the five hundred pure-blooded Elves.
With so many honors attached, how could the civilians not admire him?
He seemed to have a halo around him. Wherever he went, the civilians could not help but stop and admire his magnificent bearing.
He could make many people too excited to sleep just by talking to them.
In this world full of class system, even if the civilians had come to the neutral camp, and had not changed their habit in facing the upper-class, William would not tell them what equality was.
He would only continue to strengthen his rights so that his glory covered the whole of City of Dawn and even broader territories.
Even if the city was built by everyone, when the whole city was completed, the people would cheer for the greatness of the Lord, and even forget that they were part of the effort because they would think that this was all bestowed by the Lord.
How could they have such good jobs if the Lord had not bought them over here?
How could they have their own houses if it had not been for the kindness of the Lord?
What\'s more, the Lord still paid wages, instead of fooling them with cheap black bread.
And the most important thing was that they were almost all slaves who had turned to civilians. This was the gift of the Lord and the reason they worked overtime.
William was able to win over the hearts of many people with money, words, and gifts.
For these civilians suffering from difficulties, William only needed to give some alms which many people would remember this kindness for a lifetime and they would pray for him silently in their hearts.
"The lord system is really good…"
