Chapter 275: - Open Your Eyes, Leon
"Oh really?" the reporter said, intrigued. "Can you tell us more?"
"He\'s paying those NPCs outrageous salaries, even though this town has little potential. I\'m sure he\'ll go bankrupt soon. If I were him, I\'d sell the city to wealthier players and retire from the game to enjoy the rest of my life."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Lily took a deep breath, visibly unsettled by the man\'s comment. "He doesn\'t know the whole story, and his words were way too harsh. Some players just love being mean!"
Leon shrugged casually. "That\'s just how it is in online games. It\'s even worse in Immortal Legacy because players can live out a completely different life in the game. So, they show their true colors more easily."
"Still!" Lily responded with an exasperated sigh. "Hearing someone bad-mouth you like that really makes me angry."
Leon pinched her cheek playfully. "Oh, my little sister cares so much about me."
"Don\'t tease me!" Lily pushed his hand away.
The female reporter\'s excitement grew on the television screen as she spotted a well-known player nearby.
"Oh, viewers," she exclaimed, "do you know who I just saw? I\'m sure you all know this person very well. He\'s a very important figure in the Ass Guild."
The cameraman turned the camera toward the street, where an old mage was seen walking.
"Let\'s go talk to him," the reporter suggested.
"But wait! I have more comments about that stupid Baron," the arrogant player interjected.
Goldrich walked up to them and said, "I have something to say."
The reporter leaned in. "As an honorary member of the Ass Guild, I\'d love to hear your opinion about the development of this town, Mr. Goldrich. Everyone says that the Baron made a poor decision by paying the workers such high salaries. They believe this town has no future and that their efforts will be wasted."
Goldrich replied casually, "Baron Broken has a lot more potential than you realize. That\'s why the Ass Guild formed an alliance with him, and we\'ve also invested money in Slumdon.
"The Ass Guild is made up of wealthy individuals, and the money we contributed to Baron Broken is just a small fraction of our total wealth.
"There\'s no need to make a big deal about the wages we pay the NPCS-I can afford to pay them for the next decade out of my own pocket. So maybe you should view us differently than you view yourselves. Thanks."
With that, Goldrich walked away, leaving the reporter and the boastful player speechless.
Lily laughed with satisfaction as she watched the stunned faces of the reporter and the player on television after hearing Goldrich\'s words.
"I\'m sure they were devastated after underestimating you, Leon," she said. "Mr. Goldrich is truly savage. He comes across as a pervert, but he\'s actually very wise. I\'m becoming a fan of his. Haha!"
"This is the first time I\'ve seen Goldrich flaunt his wealth so boldly in front of so many people," Leon commented.
Lily turned to Leon, still giggling. "I think he did that because the player just insulted you on the live broadcast."
"Yes," Leon nodded. "That answer from Goldrich was quite satisfying," he smiled.
He leaned back on the sofa and took a deep breath. "Although, I don\'t really care what they say," he said, closing his eyes.
Leon muttered under his breath, still keeping his eyes closed, "I heard Freya\'s voice earlier, but where is she now? Has she already gone home?"
Lily glanced around, puzzled. "I haven\'t seen her since you logged out. Maybe she\'s still in her capsule?"
At that moment, someone from behind covered Leon\'s eyes with a cloth. Instinctively, Leon grabbed both of the person\'s hands and felt the soft skin of a woman\'s hands. It had to be Freya, right?
"What are you doing, Freya? Are you planning to drug me and steal my money?"
"Stop being arrogant. You\'re not rich enough to make me want to rob you," she giggled.
"Then what is this? My birthday is months away," he asked, puzzled.
"Leon, could you please not hold my hand so tightly? You\'re being too rough," she chided gently.
"But your hands are soft, and I like them," he said, still teasing.
Freya wriggled free with a forceful tug, making Leon release her hands.
"Can you tell the difference between reality and the games? I can feel the pain from your grip," she scolded.
"Then why are you covering my eyes?" he questioned.
"We have a surprise for you, Leon," Lily said with a chuckle.
She then walked in front of him and gently pulled him up from the sofa.
"What\'s the surprise?" Leon asked. "Is there something important happening today?"
"Follow me out of the room," Lily invited, gesturing towards the door.
"Okay," Leon said, beginning to stroll towards the door as if he could still see his
surroundings.
Freya and Lily, seeing this, quickly rushed to his side and clasped his arms. "Hold on, Leon,
you can\'t peek. This is a surprise," Freya insisted.
"How can I peek if my eyes are covered like this?" he complained.
Freya made sure Leon\'s eyes were securely covered. "But how can you walk so casually if you
can\'t see?"
"I\'ve walked to the door hundreds of times. Of course, I\'ve memorized where it is." "You\'re so weird. Why would you memorize the path to the door?" Freya said with a small laugh.
Freya and Lily each took one of Leon\'s hands firmly in theirs as they guided him out of the room. Despite having a cloth tied around his eyes, Leon\'s steps were steady and confident. The two girls walked beside him, ensuring he stayed on course even though he couldn\'t see
where he was going.
After walking for a while, passing through the hallway, and taking the elevator, Leon, Freya, and Lily eventually found themselves standing in one spot.
Leon had no clue where they were, but he tried to guess by the smell, the temperature, and the distant sounds of cars passing by.
"Is this the basement parking lot?" he asked.
"Stop guessing so much and let yourself be surprised, okay?" Freya giggled.
"Now, you can open your eyes, Leon," Lily said.
Leon then took off his blindfold and was pleasantly surprised to see a luxurious-looking bus
standing before him.
"A bus?" he thought.
The bus was white with sleek blue stripes and the Northstar C-Zero logo proudly displayed on
one side.
"Surprise!" Lily and Freya said in unison.
"Is this the home bus given by Northstar?" he asked.
Leon was stunned by the sight before him. It was the home bus that Pussycat had promised a few days ago as part of a sponsorship. And now, it was really standing in front of him.
Freya nodded slowly. "Yes, this home bus was just delivered here."
Leon shook his head, his body tingling as if he were dreaming. He knew just how expensive
this home bus was. He turned to Lily beside him. She quickly stepped closer, jumped up, and
hugged him tightly.
"Are you happy?" she asked, her eyes sparkling.
"Yes," he said.
Freya also smiled, seeing his reaction.
