Chapter 8 - Third Female Lead! The Clichéd Plot of the Original?
After watching Bai Zhou drive off in the Mercedes S600L, Li Yonggang immediately called over one of his underlings and said: “Order me a bouquet of roses! Tomorrow morning, I’m going to Mu Qingqing to apologize.”
“Huh?! Apologize?!”
The underling, completely baffled, instinctively cried out in surprise.
“Hurry up!!”
After being shooed away by Li Yonggang, the underling still looked confused.
“What did Brother Zhou just say to the young master?!”
“He just kidnapped Mu Qingqing today, and now he’s going to apologize tomorrow?”
“What kind of logic is this? Isn’t he afraid she’ll just kick him out?!”
How could he have known? It was all Bai Zhou’s idea.
According to Bai Zhou, a “poor girl bearing heavy burdens” like Mu Qingqing needed the most “companionship.” Because “companionship was the most enduring form of confession.”
When Bai Zhou said this, he felt his toes could dig out a whole three-bedroom apartment in embarrassment.
But Li Yonggang believed him!
And he was even grateful to Bai Zhou for giving him a new strategy for wooing girls.
In reality, Bai Zhou just wanted to fool this main villain a bit, adding a little fun to life. However, Bai Zhou was certain that no matter how much Li Yonggang tried to “accompany” or “win over” Mu Qingqing, she would never be interested in him. Because Bai Zhou knew that Mu Qingqing didn’t like rich heirs from big families or second-generation wealthy kids.
Otherwise, with so many good men in the world, why would she end up as part of the harem of a security captain?
But wasn’t it fun to mess with the security captain and the main villain from the original novel?
Although Bai Zhou had a bit to drink, it wasn’t much.
As he drove through the streets of the Magic City, the LT* license plate on his car made it clear—who in the Magic City would dare to stop him?
[*in case it wasn’t clear. LT stands for Li Tai.]Bai Zhou drove toward the place he remembered as home. The scenery along the road became more and more familiar, as if he had seen it described in words before. However, Bai Zhou clearly remembered that the original Bai Zhou only lasted three chapters before being written off, and his home wasn’t even mentioned.
“So why does this place feel so familiar?”
As the car continued, the road became narrower, the streetlights dimmer, and there were almost no pedestrians in sight. A small, old-fashioned street sign appeared with the words “Taohua North Alley” written on it.
“Taohua North Alley?” Bai Zhou muttered the name to himself, and suddenly his eyes lit up.
“Screech!” He hit the brakes hard.
“I knew it looked familiar! Isn’t this the place in the original novel where the male protagonist meets the third female lead, the naïve sweetheart?!”
“But … the plot has already changed. Will the same thing happen tonight?”
In the original story, Mu Qingqing was kidnapped today, and the original male lead, Chu Yun, brought officers to rescue her. Li Yonggang escaped and framed someone named Bai Zhou as the scapegoat. Chu Yun, determined to deal with Li Yonggang, turned back to investigate clues about him.
This place just happened to be on the road from the hotel to Li Tai’s villa!
It was here that Chu Yun encountered …
Before Bai Zhou could finish recalling the original plot, a piercing scream came from the direction of Taohua North Alley: “Ah—Help!”
Smack! Bai Zhou slapped his forehead, looking helpless.
“Great! This clichéd ‘hero saving the beauty’ scene actually happened!”
Sigh …
In the face of this situation, Bai Zhou didn’t want to get involved. He was only interested in experiencing the thrill of using power to bully others. The hero saving the damsel in distress, well, that had nothing to do with him. Of course, Bai Zhou knew exactly who the screaming woman in the alley was.
The third female lead, a poor girl who had come from the countryside to work in the big city. Today was her first day in the Magic City.
Her name was even quite rustic—Tian Niu, a typical “naïve sweetheart.”
Not only was she just as beautiful as Mu Qingqing, but most importantly, she was virtuous!
Every day, she did the laundry and cooked for the original male lead—Tian Niu was that woman. She was foolishly loyal, only wanting to stay by the male lead’s side, but the male lead had the least affection for her.
Just as Bai Zhou was about to hit the gas and leave, he heard a series of hurried footsteps from behind the car.
Then, a frail figure rushed straight to the front of his car.
A tear-streaked face appeared before Bai Zhou, “Please! Help me! There are robbers, robbers!!”
Her face, covered in dirt mixed with tears, streamed down her cheeks, and she wore clothes so worn they had faded. She clutched a bundle, clearly patched together from bed sheets, tightly to her chest.
Tian Niu had actually run out of the alley?!
But … the original plot had changed, and Chu Yun wasn’t supposed to come here tonight. Yet, somehow, Bai Zhou had stumbled into the scene!!
In that brief moment of hesitation.
Whoosh!
Four thuggish young men appeared and surrounded the front of Bai Zhou’s car.
Tian Niu, in a panic, pressed herself against the front grille of the Mercedes, tightly clutching her bundle, trembling and pleading,
“Please, I really don’t have any money! Please, let me go!”
But the four thugs in front of her didn’t even glance at the trembling Tian Niu on the ground. Instead, their eyes gleamed as they stared at the Mercedes logo.
One of them even exclaimed arrogantly: “Damn! Who would’ve thought we’d run into someone driving a Mercedes in a dump like this?!”
“Hm?” Hearing this, Bai Zhou’s eyebrows lifted slightly.
