Chapter 896 Four Pillars: Farewell

Chapter 896  Four Pillars: Farewell

Looking at these, the man decided to ask the young man beside him for more information, considering that he had no idea what Valyr and one of the descendants of the old humans had talked about.

"Well, aside from having reincarnated hundreds of times, he\'s known among the beings here as the Sapient One." Glancing at the murals once more, Valyr gave Vaughn more information on who they were going to meet.

"Unlike the being that escorted us here, the Sapient One isn\'t really that strong, barely reaching the early levels of Rank 1 at most," said the young man, prompting Vaughn to raise his eyebrow in curiosity.

"Can the being not proceed any further than Rank 1, or are they just intentionally choosing to proceed any further?"

Hearing Vaughn\'s question, Valyr shrugged his shoulders. "I\'m not sure either. All I can tell you is that when I met the Sapient One back then, he was at the early levels of Rank 1."

"That means we\'ll only find out if we ask the being later," replied Vaughn, prompting the young man to nod in agreement after some time.

Feeling as if he\'d obtained almost every bit of information he could about the Sapient One, the man decided to shift the topic of their conversation to the other descendants instead.

"Do you know more about the beings aside from the one you\'ve just mentioned?"

Valyr nodded. "They call themselves the Forsaken Ones."

"The Forsaken Ones," muttered Vaughn to himself, only for a bitter smile to appear on his face soon after. "If only I knew earlier."

Giving Vaughn some time to mull over his thoughts, the young man eventually continued with his explanations on the Forsaken Ones, making use of the information he\'d gotten from Ryvrthe in the past.

After that, he talked about the community that they\'ve created, Dnal fo Nigiro, as well as the name of the entire place they were residing in, which was Ecalos.

"Dnal fo Nigiro… Ecalos…" Muttering these names to himself, Vaughn had a pensive expression on his face for a bit. "They remind me of the language we used before the Arbiters came around."

"Them being descendants of the old humans that survived the Great Cataclysm makes more sense if that\'s the case, no?" asked Valyr in response, to which Vaughn faintly nodded in response.

Returning his gaze to the murals that were sprawled all over the corridor, a thought soon surfaced on the man\'s mind. "Now that I think about it, with how thorough the Arbiters were in annihilating the existence of all the humans on Veldanyr back then, it doesn\'t make sense for there to still be remnants of the old humans aside from me."

"How were they able to escape?" asked Vaughn to himself in a mutter, though Valyr heard the question as well.

"I guess we\'ll also find out that answer if we ask the Sapient One." After answering the man\'s question, it only took a minute or so of more walking for the two to arrive at the second entrance.

Seeing that only a curtain was the only thing separating them from the Sapient One, Valyr told Vaughn that he\'d enter first, to which the latter nodded in response.

Telling the man that he\'d give a signal for him to come in after that, the young man took in a deep breath before passing through the second entrance.

Whoosh!

Appearing inside the space containing technology that was anachronistic compared to the technology that currently existed on Veldanyr, Valyr had a faint smile on his face as his gaze shifted towards the throne at the center.

"We meet again, Ryvrthe."

"Valyr," replied Ryvrthe with a smile, stepping down from his throne made out of scrap metal. "I\'ve been informed by Vlrvadh through the system that you\'d come to meet me again."

"That is indeed the case." Valyr nodded in agreement, only for a curious smile to appear on his face soon after. "I thought you said you didn\'t want to use system\'s chat function back then?"

"That was back then." Ryvrthe sported a wry smile. "Thanks to meeting you, I\'ve eventually come to realize that I\'ve been inflexible in my thoughts."

"Rather than shun the existence of the system, I should embrace it wholeheartedly and make more use of it."

At those words, the young man sneakily activated \'[Superior Analysis]\' on the man, wondering if the man was saying all of that for nothing.

Ding!

Looking at the screen that he commanded to appear in his mind, a faint smile soon crept up on the young man\'s face. \'It seems he\'s really changed his mind.\'

Compared to before, Ryvrthe, who had been loitering around the entry levels of Rank 1, was now at the middle levels of Rank 2.

Though, judging by how only a week or so had passed in the inheritance, the young man was certain it would not take long for the man to reach greater heights.

"Who knew this class of mine contained more wondrous abilities now that I\'ve ascended to a higher level?" said Ryvrthe with a chuckle, getting an idea of what the young man had done just now.

Whoosh!

In response, the man released a bit of mana from his body before conjuring it into a bolt.

Swoosh!

Then, not long after, the singular bolt split off into two, then four, eventually stopping by the time 32 bolts were hovering around the man.

Seeing how Ryvrthe was unleashing a level of strength through the skill that would even give Rank 3 class holders a run for their money, Valyr\'s eyes widened as he faintly smiled.

\'Then again, with a Mythic class, something like that is expected.\'

"So, what brought you here?" Dispelling the bolts he\'d conjured, Ryvrthe returned to the throne, only for a thought from their previous meeting to surface in his mind.

At the moment he recalled that, the man looked at Valyr with expectation. "Does it have something to do with the quest I\'ve given you?"

"Truly befitting of someone who holds a class with the word \'Sage\' on it." Valyr let out a chuckle, only to begin telling Ryvrthe of his adventures in uncovering more information on the last leader of humanity. Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn

From fighting the quadrant leaders to accessing memories that had something to do with the past, the young man did not spare even a single detail in his explanation, allowing Ryvrthe to form a greater narrative in his mind.

Retrieving items from his spatial bracelet that were related to the quest, Valyr continued on with his story as the man looked at him with surprise, not expecting the man to be so thorough in his search.

Unsurprisingly, when Valyr mentioned that he had even met the last leader of humanity, Ryvrthe stood up from the throne and looked at him with frenzied eyes, hopeful thoughts forming in his mind.

Though, with how the young man continued talking about the current whereabouts of their last leader, the hope he felt gradually dissipated as he returned to the throne.

"So, you\'re telling me that the last leader had been naturally extricated from Veldanyr after reaching a certain level of strength?" Gathering all of the things Valyr had told him, Ryvrthe eventually began asking the young man for clarification.

"Pretty much." Valyr nodded.

"And that the Four Pillars\' Inheritance we\'re in was his creation? Which he eventually decided to transfer to you?"

"Also correct."

"Well… as expected of the last leader, I guess. I had a feeling he wouldn\'t die that easily." Ryvrthe wryly smiled, closing his eyes for a bit as he sorted out his thoughts some more.

By the time he opened his eyes, the man\'s gaze seemed as if he\'d aged a decade or so in an instant.

Letting out a sigh, Ryvrthe looked at Valyr. "It\'s a shame that I couldn\'t have the opportunity to meet the last leader. Nevertheless, I still appreciate all of the effort you\'ve put into completing this selfish request of mine."

[…]

At the very moment Ryvrthe said those words, a plethora of notifications swiftly bombarded Valyr\'s mind, prompting the young man to smile in satisfaction.

Though, rather than take a look at it, the young man moved all of those notifications to the side for the meantime.

Instead, he let out a chuckle at the man\'s words, prompting Ryvrthe to look at him in slight confusion.

"Who says you couldn\'t meet the last leader?"

For a while, the man went silent, only for him to look at Valyr with both excitement and expectation in his eyes.

Letting out a bit of laughter in response, Valyr then turned to look at the curtain that led him to this place.

"You can come out now."

"Took you long enough. I was wondering when you\'d let me."

As a deep voice responded to Valyr\'s words, it went without saying that Ryvrthe\'s attention was wholly fixated on the curtain that Valyr came from.

Watching the curtain open to reveal the man that had appeared, Ryvrthe\'s eyes began to brim with tears as he immediately recognized him at first glance.

"Leader…" said Ryvrthe, his voice shaking as he stepped down from his throne.

"To think you\'d appear in front of me in this state," replied Vaughn after glancing at Ryvrthe for a bit, adorning an apologetic smile in response.

"You\'ve worked hard, Vrauford. I apologize for taking this long to come here." Hearing those words, Ryvrthe could not stop the tears in his eyes from streaming down his face.

At that moment, the man cried as if he hadn\'t cried before, the emotions from over thousands upon thousands of years finally bursting out.

Of course, with how he\'d lamented over the loss of his civilization in the past, Vaughn had an inkling of what was going on in Ryvrthe\'s mind, giving the man time to let all of his emotions out.

Plus, even if he struck up a conversation at this moment, Ryvrthe was choking on his sobs, so there was not much point in doing so.

Fortunately, it did not take long for Ryvrthe to calm down from his outburst, looking at the man with a mix of both relief and joy as he took in a deep breath.

Seeing that the two were now beginning to talk about what the other side was doing since they last met, Valyr listened to their conversation for a bit with a smile.

From what they were doing during the Great Cataclysm to what they were doing just recently, both Vaughn and Ryvrthe did not hold anything back from each other as smiles adorned their faces.

Feeling at that moment that he had now truly done everything he could for now in the inheritance, the young man eventually decided to open a rift that would lead him back to Veldanyr, letting the two know beforehand that he would be leaving them for now.

Whoosh!

In response, Vaughn and Ryvrthe looked back at him and nodded in response, their eyes expressing their immense gratitude.

"Thank you," said the two as they wished him safe travels.

Swoosh!

And with that, Valyr had finally left the Four Pillars\' Inheritance.
