Chapter 91 - 91: Airport Trifles on Another Trip to Jingdu
At ten o’clock the following morning, Zhou Chao emerged from his slumber, his captivating eyes slowly fluttering open. Recollecting the previous night, he recalled engaging in a gaming session with Si Cong and the others until 2 AM, successfully advancing to Diamond 2 in his game ranking.
However, they hadn’t managed to eat the giant lobster, and in the end, Si Cong took them to the night market where they had a bowl of fried rice.
“Sigh, no more staying up late.” Zhou Chao pressed his slightly sore temples with his hands and got up from the bed, heading straight to the bathroom.
After a while, Zhou Chao emerged from the bathroom, changed into a cozy set of pajamas, and went downstairs.
Just as he descended the stairs, he saw Lin Wu walking in with a package.
“Boss, you’re up.”
“Yeah, what did you buy for us to eat?”
“Well, I got some snacks. Would you like to have some?”
“I’m quite hungry. Give me two packs, and I’ll fill my stomach first.” Lin Wu quickly took out two packs of meat and bread from the bag.
“You even got pig’s trotters? I like these.” Zhou Chao looked at what Lin Wu had brought and didn’t hold back, he tore open the packaging and started eating.
“Lin Wu, can you find some time to buy a Juwei notebook computer for me? I need it.” Zhou Chao instructed Lin Wu as he nibbled on the pig’s trotters.
“Boss, have you seen the news? Recently, Juwei Company has been sanctioned by some Western companies again. The chip supply is restricted, and their global smartphone sales are plummeting.”
Zhou Chao paused his chewing. He knew he had something in his hands to solve this issue. He fell into contemplation, unsure of how to proceed.
“Lin Wu, forget about the computer purchase. Instead, arrange for two tickets to Jingdu, preferably on today’s flight.” With his pig’s trotters consumed, Zhou Chao swiftly cleaned his hands with a tissue.
“Fourth Brother, I’m placing my trust in you this time. Just make sure you’re not pulling my leg.” Zhou Chao remained inclined towards visiting Jingdu, but he preferred to address any future matters when the time came.
“Boss, I’ve already booked tickets for the 3 PM flight.”
“Good, Lin Wu, wait a moment!” Zhou Chao called Lin Wu back.
After a moment of contemplation, he continued, “Bring Wang Feng and a few others along. They can come with us to Jingdu”
Lin Wu’s expression darkened upon hearing this. After all, the fact that all four of them were being requested to accompany signaled that there was a significant reason necessitating their involvement.
“Don’t overthink it. This trip to Jingdu is nothing major. We’re just going to meet someone.”
“I’m bringing them along because I’ve been training them, and this is a chance for them to spend some time in Jingdu.” Zhou Chao looked at Lin Wu’s serious expression and explained.
“Understood, Boss. I’ll arrange for them to come over.” After saying that, Lin Wu went outside to make some calls.
Ding ding! Zhou Chao’s phone rang.
“Hello, Ling Chen, is there something you need?”
“Boss, our game has gone viral!” Excitement filled Ling Chen’s voice from the other end of the line.
“Calm down first, and tell me slowly.”
“Boss, our game has already crossed three million downloads. And that’s just within China. The international figures are equally impressive.”
“Great. Put in a little more effort in the advertising, aiming to reach ten million as soon as possible.”
“Don’t worry, Boss.”
“By the way, Ling Chen, about that research institute in Peng City that you mentioned earlier, did we acquire it?”
“Boss, we’ve already acquired it. Whenever you’re free, consider visiting.”
“I’ll make time. For now, I need to handle some things in Jingdu. Once I’m done, I’ll give you a call.”
“Sure thing, Boss.” After hanging up the phone, Zhou Chao lay back on the sofa, surprised by the massive download count of the game just a few days after its release. It seemed their previous advertisements weren’t in vain.
Time swiftly passed, and it was already 2 PM in the afternoon. Zhou Chao and Lin Wu, their minds lost in thought, headed to the airport.
“Lin Wu, where are Wang Feng and the others?”
“Boss, they’re already waiting for us at the airport.”
“Okay.”
They soon arrived at Hongqiao Airport. Zhou Chao got out of the car and noticed that Wang Feng and the others were all dressed in suits, including Lin Wu. Zhou Chao was left bewildered.
Helpless, Zhou Chao found a mask in the car. He had prepared it after witnessing Si Cong’s actions in Jingdu the last time, just in case.
And so, the group of five walked toward the airport entrance, drawing the attention of numerous onlookers.
“Lin Wu, go collect the tickets first. We’ll be waiting for you in the VIP lounge.” Zhou Chao led Wang Feng and the others toward the VIP lounge.
As soon as Zhou Chao entered the lounge, he collided with someone coming out. The man was knocked down, prompting Zhou Chao to rush over and help him up.
“Mother F*ker, can’t you watch where you’re walking?” The man on the ground cursed at Zhou Chao with a strong local accent, causing Zhou Chao to retract his hand that was reaching out to help.
At this moment, the man’s companions hurried over.
“Lan Kun, are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?” A middle-aged woman anxiously inquired.
After the middle-aged woman checked him over and found nothing wrong, he stood up.
“Kid, your eyes are good for nothing. You can’t even see where you’re walking. What’s the use of those eyes? You might as well donate them.” The middle-aged woman’s haughty attitude made Zhou Chao chuckle.
“Do you even know who Lan Kun is? He’s a singer and dancer. If something happens to him because of your clumsiness, can you afford the responsibility?” The middle-aged woman pointed her finger at Zhou Chao with an arrogant manner.
“Heh, what a joke. He’s the one who couldn’t watch where he was going. He can’t blame others for his own lack of awareness!” Zhou Chao coldly chuckled and looked at them with a calm gaze.
Wang Feng and the others who were standing behind Zhou Chao immediately stepped forward, blocking the middle-aged woman.
“Aunt Li, take a picture of him. I’ll post it online to show my fans how he assaulted me.” Lan Kun, helped up from the ground by his bodyguards, struck a pose and arrogantly spoke.
“Assaulted?” Zhou Chao burst out laughing. Without further ado, he pulled out his phone and checked which company Lan Kun was associated with. After all, only extremely famous male stars drew attention.
“It’s quite a coincidence.” Zhou Chao quickly discovered that this D-list celebrity was actually signed under Si Cong. He immediately called Si Cong. “Hey, Zhou Chao, what’s up?”
“Is Lan Kun one of your artists?” Si Cong, lying on a chair, could tell from Zhou Chao’s tone that he was angry.
“Yes, he’s signed with me. What’s up?”
“Nothing much. He wants to spread online rumors about me assaulting him and create an internet storm. How should I handle this?” Zhou Chao’s calm tone made Si Cong realize that the situation was serious.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” Si Cong immediately made arrangements.
“Kid, do you know fear now? Calling anyone won’t help you. Do you even know who my boss is? He’s Si Cong!” Looking at Lan Kun, who resembled a clown, Zhou Chao’s initial anger subsided. There was no point in arguing with a clown.
Zhou Chao completely ignored Lan Kun and his companions, walking straight in and finding a few empty seats to sit down.
Seeing this, Lan Kun and Aunt Li were about to continue causing trouble for Zhou Chao when their phones rang.
“Hello, Manager.” Lan Kun put on a fawning expression and respectfully greeted the caller.
“You’ve been fired. This industry can’t tolerate a ‘great deity’ like you. Just wait for the company’s legal letter.” Lan Kun held his phone with a puzzled look as he stared at Aunt Li.
Aunt Li had also concluded her call, and her once-arrogant and commanding demeanor had dissipated. What remained was a sense of bewilderment.
As it turns out, she had been dismissed as well, and on top of that, she found herself blacklisted in the industry!
At this point, even the bodyguards received phone calls and left, leaving only the two of them standing there in a daze.
“Aunt Li, tell me this isn’t true.” Lan Kun, now sitting on the ground and leaning against Aunt Li, had just begun his journey to stardom, only for it to shatter like this.
At that moment, Lin Wu entered from outside, casting a slightly puzzled glance at the situation before making his way over to Zhou Chao.
“Boss, what’s going on?”
“Don’t worry about them. They brought this upon themselves!”
“Ding, the flight from Modu to Jingdu has begun boarding.”
Without even glancing at the two of them, Zhou Chao stood up and said, “Let’s go!”
