Chapter 130 - 130: Is It Sweet?
Back at home, Zhou Chao tossed and turned on the bed until the late hours of the night before drifting into a half-asleep state.
The next morning, still in the midst of a dream, Zhou Chao was abruptly awakened by a phone call. He groggily reached for the phone on the cabinet.
“Hello!”
“Is the big lazy pig still sleeping? Wake up! I’m right outside your door!” Jiang Li’s voice came through the phone. Zhou Chao, still half-asleep, quickly got out of bed.
“You’re right outside my door? I’ll be right out!” Zhou Chao hurriedly put on his clothes and rushed downstairs with his phone in hand.
As soon as Zhou Chao opened the door, he saw Jiang Li, dressed in a white down jacket, pacing back and forth at the entrance, holding a bag in her arms.
January in Jingdu was still quite cold, and seeing Jiang Li’s rosy cheeks from the cold and the bag in her arms, Zhou Chao’s heart was filled with happiness.
“On a chilly day like this, you should have given me a call to pick you up! Why did you wait outside for me? I’d feel terrible if you got frostbite.” Zhou Chao rushed over and gently cupped Jiang Li’s small head in his hands. Sensing the faint coldness on her skin only deepened his worry.
“Hehe, I wanted to make breakfast for you! So, I came out early!”
“Silly girl! Come inside, it’s too cold out here.” Zhou Chao hugged Jiang Li and led her inside.
As they entered the house, it felt like entering a different world. The temperature inside was around 20 degrees Celsius, exceptionally comfortable. Jiang Li also took off her down jacket, revealing her perfect figure with curves that were hard to resist.
Zhou Chao couldn’t help but stare with wide eyes. Jiang Li’s figure, outlined by the white thermal shirt and the tight jeans she was wearing, seemed capable of stealing his soul.
“You big rascal, stop looking at me like that, or I’ll leave!” Jiang Li, noticing Zhou Chao’s constant gaze, blushed.
“Hehe, who can blame me when my Jiang Li looks so gorgeous!” Zhou Chao finally averted his gaze, scratching his head, feeling a bit caught red-handed.
“Who said I’m your Jiang Li? You’re thinking too highly of yourself. Here, I made breakfast for you!” Jiang Li rolled her eyes at Zhou Chao and handed him the bag she had been carrying.
“Once you step inside my humble abode, there’s no escaping!” Zhou Chao said with a cheerful smile as he accepted the bag Jiang Li handed to him. He eagerly opened it and discovered two eggs inside. Zhou Chao proceeded to unpack the entire bag.
At the very bottom, he found a thermos filled with preserved egg and lean pork congee. As he looked at the three side dishes, eggs, and congee arranged on the table, Zhou Chao couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose ever so slightly. He feared he might shed tears of happiness at any moment.
“How is it? Quite a feast, isn’t it?” Jiang Li walked over to Zhou Chao and whispered softly.
Zhou Chao immediately embraced Jiang Li, feeling the softness pressed against his chest. He held her waist and whispered in her ear, “Thank you for your hard work.”
“Quick, let’s eat before it gets cold!” Jiang Li urged.
“Let’s eat together!” Zhou Chao quickly brought two sets of bowls and chopsticks, dividing the congee that Jiang Li had made into two portions. Jiang Li picked up her chopsticks and started eating as well.
“Doesn’t it feel like we’re a warm, loving couple?” Jiang Li burst into laughter at Zhou Chao’s unexpected comment while they were eating.
“You naughty boy, you’re quite mischievous,” Zhou Chao chuckled in response.
“Meow-” Shoufu emerged from its hiding place and circled around Zhou Chao, meowing. Jiang Li looked at the orange cat curiously, her eyes shining with excitement.
“This is Shoufu, a stray cat 1 picked up before.” Zhou Chao introduced Shoufu to Jiang Li, and Shoufu meowed in agreement as if understanding the conversation.
The two of them quickly finished the breakfast Jiang Li had brought. Jiang Li lay on the sofa, stroking Shoufu, and watched Zhou Chao busy in the kitchen. A happy smile lit up her face.
“Why are you grinning like that? Are you trying to get my attention?” Zhou Chao, having finished washing the dishes, teased when he saw the smile on Jiang Li’s face.
Jiang Li snorted softly at his words. “I think you’re the one trying to get my attention!”
“Haha, the big bad wolf is here!” Zhou Chao pretended to pounce on Jiang Li, but she didn’t react at all. Instead, she watched him perform the playful act.
“Haha, you rascal” Jiang Li burst into laughter, seeing Zhou Chao’s bewildered expression. Unbeknownst to Zhou Chao, he had already reached her side.
“Wu~” Jiang Li, who had been laughing, suddenly found her lips sealed by Zhou Chao’s. He easily broke through her defenses, and Jiang Li’s hands involuntarily wrapped around his neck, responding warmly.
It wasn’t until both of them were nearly out of breath that they reluctantly separated. Jiang Li looked at the thread between their lips and couldn’t help but blush. She quickly wiped her mouth with a tissue.
“You rascal, always teasing me!” Jiang Li nestled in Zhou Chao’s arms, her small hand playfully tapping his chest.
The two of them cuddled on the sofa for a while. When Zhou Chao thought of the pink butterfly bike in the garage, he held Jiang Li’s hand and led her to the garage. As soon as Jiang Li entered, she saw two bicycles parked in the corner.
“Is this a gift for me?” Jiang Li looked curiously at the pink butterfly bike and admired the butterfly pattern on the frame.
“How about going for a ride?” Zhou Chao suggested, seeing Jiang Li’s excitement.
“Yes, yes!” Her head bobbed up and down like a chick pecking at grain.
“Wait for me a moment.” Zhou Chao glanced at the sun, which was higher in the sky than before and felt slightly warmer. He went back inside and brought out a few things.
“Here, put on your hat and scarf.” Zhou Chao helped Jiang Li put on a soft, fluffy hat, and her adorable appearance made him unable to resist planting a kiss on her.
Both of them wore their hats and scarves, and Zhou Chao pushed the bikes out of the garage.
Perhaps because it was mid-January, the trees along the Grand Canal were still lush and green. After leaving the courtyard by the canal, the two of them slowly rode along the Grand Canal.
Perhaps because Jiang Li was a girl, their cycling speed was relatively slow. Zhou Chao had to slow down to accompany her.
The cold wind hit their faces, not only bringing a slight chill but also making Zhou Chao feel his face tightening. Jiang Li noticed Zhou Chao’s condition shortly after they started cycling and promptly called a halt.
“Brother Chao, wait a moment.” Zhou Chao immediately stopped the bike and turned his head to look at Jiang Li, a puzzled expression on his face.
“What’s wrong?” Jiang Li approached him with her bike and took out a bottle of moisturizer from her bag. She evenly applied it to Zhou Chao’s face.
As Zhou Chao watched Jiang Li, who was so close, applying moisturizer to his face with such dedication, he was momentarily stunned.
“All, it hurts!” It turned out that Jiang Li noticed Zhou Chao staring at her and pinched his cheek.
“I want a strawberry-flavored lollipop!” Jiang Li pointed to a nearby convenience store.
“Sure, I’ll get it for you!” Zhou Chao headed towards the store Jiang Li had pointed to and bought two strawberry-flavored lollipops.
“Here you go!” Zhou Chao considerately tore off the packaging, and Jiang Li immediately took a bite of the lollipop.
Then the two of them resumed their cycling. After about half an hour, they returned home. Mainly, it was because Jiang Li was too tired, and Zhou Chao had no choice but to accompany her back to rest.
“Darling, why do you like strawberry flavor so much?” They both lay on the sofa and Zhou Chao, watching Jiang Li eat her second strawberry lollipop, curiously asked.
Jiang Li got up, sat next to Zhou Chao, and took the lollipop out of her mouth. Then she leaned over and gave Zhou Chao a kiss.
“Is it sweet?” Jiang Li smiled radiantly for a moment..
