Chapter 477 - 477: Sister, It’s Me! (2)
“Let’s eat. We’re all family here, and there are no elders around. No need to be so reserved!” Zhou Chao said, and he and Jiang Li finally took their seats.
Seeing everyone present, Xiao Yang raised his wine glass and said, “Let’s make a toast, a casual celebration.”
Xiao Feng, who had been smiling earlier, froze instantly, unable to believe that his usually serious elder brother, Xiao Yang, was making a joke.
“Don’t just stand there, let’s toast,” Zhou Chao’s voice brought Xiao Feng back to reality, and the three of them gently clinked their glasses together.
Taking a sip of the wine, they instantly felt a warm sensation rising from their stomachs to their throats.
“Let’s eat!”
The four of them began to eat heartily. The dishes were simple home-cooked meals, but they carried a sense of home. Zhou Chao found himself competing in drinking with the Xiao brothers, Xiao Yang and Xiao Feng.
After eating for a full two and a half hours, they finally finished their meal. It ended in a tie between Zhou Chao and Xiao Yang, with Xiao Feng succumbing to the alcohol.
“Next time, let’s drink less. We really went overboard today. The three of us finished 12 bottles of Maotai. Luckily, we didn’t get drunk; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to bring Xiao Feng back home!” Jiang Li, who was driving, looked at Zhou Chao, who was sitting in the passenger seat with a strong scent of alcohol but still sober.
“We were just having fun! Didn’t you see how cocky Xiao Feng was acting? We couldn’t let him off without a good drink.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’re impressive!” Jiang Li rolled her eyes playfully.
When they returned home, Zhou Chao headed straight for the bathroom while Jiang Li went to the kitchen to prepare a hangover remedy for him.
When Zhou Chao came downstairs after his shower, he saw Jiang Li carefully carrying a bowl of dark-colored soup out of the kitchen.
“You came down at just the right time. Quickly drink this bowl of hangover remedy.” Jiang Li placed the bowl on the table and touched her ears with both hands.
Seeing this, Zhou Chao quickly approached and took Jiang Li’s hands in his.
“Silly girl, you know it was a bit hot, and you didn’t ask me to bring it. Did you burn your hands?”
“No, it’s just that it was a bit hot earlier. Drink it all, and I’ll go upstairs to shower,” Jiang Li said, placing the bowl on the table.
“Well, if I had known, I would have showered with you,” Zhou Chao sighed.
“You want to?” Jiang Li gave him a flirtatious look and then hurried upstairs.
Watching Jiang Li’s alluring figure, Zhou Chao chuckled. If it weren’t for Jiang Li being pregnant right now, he would have had trouble staying out of bed.
After Zhou Chao finished the hangover remedy, he went to the bedroom. Jiang Li was already lying in bed.
“Get some rest. It’s not early anymore,” Zhou Chao said, lying down and pulling Jiang Li into his arms.
“Sleep tight!”
The night passed without any further words.
The next morning, Zhou Chao woke up early and went for a jog. When he returned, Jiang Li was still asleep.
By the time Zhou Chao had prepared breakfast, it was already 9 a.m., and there was no sign of Jiang Li getting up.
“Now you’re becoming such a sleepyhead?” Zhou Chao muttered as he carried the breakfast upstairs.
Seeing Jiang Li lying in a stretched-out position on the bed, Zhou Chao put down what he was carrying and gently said, “Wifey, it’s time to get up.”
Hearing Zhou Chao’s voice, Jiang Li opened her eyes drowsily but soon closed them again.
“Mmm, I want to sleep a little longer,” Jiang Li naturally wrapped her arms around Zhou Chao’s neck.
“Let’s have something to eat first, and then you can go back to sleep.”
“Alright.” Jiang Li reluctantly sat up in bed.
Zhou Chao brought a bowl of specially brewed lotus seed and longan porridge, not only delicious but also nutritious, with the benefits of nourishing qi, calming the mind, and replenishing blood.
“Mmm, it’s really delicious,” Jiang Li smiled with crescent-shaped eyes.
“Of course, do you see who made it?”
“You conceited man!”
Soon, Jiang Li finished her meal, and drowsiness overcame them both. They didn’t exchange many words and started yawning.
“You can rest for a while. I have some errands to run later. There’s lotus seed and longan porridge in the pot if you get hungry. I’ll make something delicious for you when I come back.”
“Mmm, go ahead,” she said before letting out another yawn.
Zhou Chao kissed Jiang Li on the forehead and then left the bedroom with his bowl. When he came downstairs, he saw Lin Wu playing with his phone on the sofa.
“When did you arrive? Have you had breakfast?”
“Just arrived a little while ago. I found a breakfast place on the way and grabbed something quickly.”
“Alright, wait for me a moment. I’ll eat first,” Zhou Chao said, heading towards the kitchen.
As Lin Wu smelled the delicious aroma coming from the kitchen, he couldn’t help but salivate, craning his neck to peer into the kitchen.
“I really have a big mouth. I knew the boss’s cooking was excellent, but 1 still said I had breakfast. Otherwise, I could have enjoyed this delicious food too.”
Just as Lin Wu was regretting his words, Zhou Chao came out with two small bowls.
“Don’t just stare. Come and have some. Your neck is almost as long as a giraffe’s.”
With a sly grin, Lin Wu trotted over to the dining area.
“Isn’t it because you made it so delicious, boss? I just couldn’t resist,” Lin Wu said, his eyes wide with admiration.
Zhou Chao chuckled and shook his head, continuing to eat.
Seeing this, Lin Wu picked up his bowl and started eating eagerly, taking big bites.
“Wow, it’s so delicious!”
He then began to boast about it. Zhou Chao had only finished about half of his meal when Lin Wu had already polished off his. He still gazed expectantly at Zhou Chao and the kitchen.
“Why are you looking at me like that? If you want more, serve yourself. Do you really expect me to personally serve you another bowl?” Zhou Chao said, a bit irritated, as he looked at Lin Wu..
