Chapter 620: Transfer Hospital
“Young Master Zhou, my busy man, what’s up with the sudden call? I thought you forgot about me. You never talk in the group chat, and you don’t even bother with the club’s affairs. Remember when the club’s boys won the championship in Korea? You didn’t even show up to celebrate. People might think I’m the boss! And even at the celebration, it was the Si Cong team that organized everything. You, as the absentee boss, are really living the good life!”
As soon as the call connected, Hou Ting’s complaints came pouring through. Zhou Chao awkwardly chuckled, while Jiang Li, seated beside him on the couch, couldn’t help but giggle with a hand covering her mouth.
“Young Master Hou, you know how it is, those who can, do. You know I don’t like these social gatherings. I can only rely on you guys. Besides, I’ve been incredibly busy lately. I only just returned to the country a few days ago. Let’s catch up properly when the time comes.”
Hearing Zhou Chao’s words, Hou Ting chuckled mischievously. “Alright, Young Master Zhou, you said it yourself. I didn’t force you. When the time comes, we’ll celebrate in style. Just don’t cry when the bill comes!”
“Don’t worry. When the time comes, you guys handle the arrangements, and I’ll take care of the bill!” Zhou Chao shook his head helplessly, accustomed to his role as the absentee landlord.
“Haha, I’ll inform the Si Cong team right away. Let’s make everyone happy!”
Zhou Chao suddenly felt a pang of guilt. “Ahem, let’s focus on the matter at hand.”
“The matter at hand? Zhou, just tell me what you need help with, bro.”
Zhou Chao didn’t beat around the bush and laid out his teacher’s situation for Hou Ting, asking him to find experts from Huaxi and arrange the hospital room for her convenience when she arrived in Rong City.
“No problem, leave it to me. When are you guys coming over? I’ll make the arrangements in advance!”
“Tomorrow, on the morning flight. Arrange for a car to pick us up from the airport.”
“Got it. I’ll contact you tomorrow.” With that, Hou Ting hurriedly hung up the phone.
Zhou Chao placed his phone on the table and slumped back onto the couch, closing his eyes with a long sigh. He rubbed his temples with his right hand, relieving some of the fatigue in his mind.
A pair of warm hands landed on Zhou Chao’s head.
Opening his eyes, Zhou Chao saw Jiang Li sitting beside him.
“It’ll be alright. I nelieve that timely treatment will work wonders for Teacher Li,” Jiang Li reassured him.
“It’s not that. I’m just lamenting the unpredictability of life. You never know what the next moment will bring. Ah Li, I’m considering officially entering the pharmaceutical industry!” Zhou Chao declared earnestly.
“The world of pharmaceuticals, Brother Chao, it’s a maze, you know? My cousin once gave me the lowdown on it. Big pharma firms hold a ton of patents for drug formulas. Surprisingly, there are plenty of effective meds out there for all sorts of illnesses, even the tough ones deemed incurable. But why do you think they hardly ever make it to the market?”
Jiang Li’s explanation was brief, but Zhou Chao grasped her point. In essence, it all came down to one thing: “Profit.”
A mere ten percent profit ensured widespread adoption. With twenty percent profit, it sparked action. At fifty percent profit, it was ready to break any law. With one hundred percent profit, it would disregard all human laws. And with three hundred percent profit, it was willing to face even the threat of execution.
So when the interests reached a certain height, some people would set aside their conscience and pursue more benefits.
“I know, it’s just a plan for now. Besides, there are pharmaceutical companies under my group. I still have some understanding of these.” Zhou Chao rubbed Jiang Li’s head and smiled.
Jiang Li was about to speak when her stomach growled.
Her pretty face blushed slightly, embarrassedly turning her head away.
“You didn’t have lunch, did you?” Zhou Chao frowned slightly, looking at Jiang Li.
“Who said 1 didn’t eat? I just had a little less.” Jiang Li lowered her head, feeling embarrassed even as she spoke.
With a slightly annoyed glance at Jiang Li, Zhou Chao gently stroked her nose with his hand. “Let’s go eat.”
“No, didn’t you say you’d cook tonight? Now you’re going back on your word!” Jiang Li pouted, a little annoyed, turning her head away.
At this point, Zhou Chao still didn’t realize that Jiang Li just wanted to eat the food he cooked and deliberately ate less at lunchtime.
“Alright, I’ll cook. Since there’s no food at home, I’ll go buy some first.” He affectionately rubbed Jiang Li’s head.
“Hehe, go check the fridge, I’ve already prepared the ingredients!” Jiang Li said somewhat smugly.
“Oh, you’ve planned everything out!” Zhou Chao exclaimed.
Opening the fridge, Zhou Chao indeed found plenty of ingredients—beef, pork ribs, and lots of vegetables.
Watching Zhou Chao head to the kitchen with the groceries, Jiang Li smiled like a little fox.
The next morning, Zhou Chao, accompanied by Jiang Li and the bodyguard Xiao Yang, arrived at the hospital early. It was unclear how Du Qiang negotiated with the hospital, but they readily agreed to transfer Li Xuemei, even dispatching an ambulance with accompanying doctors and nurses to prevent any mishaps on the way..
