Chapter 46 - 49: Caught the Attention of a Big Shot
Aidan Lucas was surprisingly in a good mood and had the patience to appease her.
“Good girl, sleep a bit more.”
He gently patted her back, his strong arms hugging her tighter, “I wore you out last night, 1’11 wake you up when we get to M Country.”
Lily Gray didn’t really want to listen to Aidan Lucas, but she was weak and drained, utterly incapable of arguing with him.
Well, she was “his” for the rest of the year. If he didn’t mind carrying her and wasn’t tired, then let him carry her.
Not overthinking anymore, Lily Gray found a comfortable position in the man’s arms. Her face rested against his chest while her hands clung to his slender waist. In no time, she had drifted off to sleep once again.
Looking at the woman soundly asleep in his arms, a hidden glimmer flickered through Aidan Lucas’s deep-dark gaze.

Upon reaching M Country, Lily Gray thought Aidan Lucas would keep her by his side. Instead, he promptly admitted her into a hospital.
“I’ll be in M Country for about a week. Take this opportunity to have your vision corrected. Mrs. Lucas needs to maintain an elegant and charming appearance.
1 don’t like you wearing glasses, they’re too ugly.”
Alright then, he was the “client,” what he said goes.
This was a matter Lily Gray was willing to comply with. She admitted herself to the hospital without any objections. The vision correction surgery was straightforward and finished in just ten minutes.
However, due to the post-surgery requirement of wearing sunglasses and avoiding bright light, and with Aidan Lucas busied with his own matters, she chose to stay in the hospital for her recovery.
Staying alone in the hospital was more comfortable than being with Aidan Lucas. Lily Gray had no objections and readily settled in.
While she was recuperating comfortably in the hospital, two women back in A City, who were waiting for her at the lawyer’s office to sign some papers, were about to lose their patience.
“Mother, where has that useless wretch gone? Did she have a change of heart and decided not to come?” A stunning middle-aged woman in exquisite attire sat next to Madam Gray. She was Lily Gray’s aunt, Rowena Gray.
“Impossible, that wretch has always been timid. When has she ever dared to defy me? Besides, we have her identification, and her cell phone. The Lucas family has already ruined her reputation, if she doesn’t obediently come back to us, where else can she go?!”
Sonya Hamilton, also known as Lily Gray’s maternal grandmother, practically made no effort to hide her disgust and contempt whenever she mentioned Lily Gray.
“Mother, waiting like this isn’t a solution… We’ve been waiting for hours and there’s not even a trace of her. Look, we have her identification and seal. What if we…?”
Rowena didn’t finish her sentence, but from just a glance they exchanged, the mother and daughter understood each other’s intentions.
Conveniently, it was about time they replaced the family’s lawyer. Theodore, the current lawyer, had always been partial to Lily and her mother. Keeping him could become troublesome in the future.
So, Madam Gray and her daughter Rowena forged a contract asserting Lily’s agreement to transfer her shares. Afterwards, they found a way to get it approved and successfully transferred all of Lily’s shares to their names.
The news about Lily Gray being kicked out of the Lucas family for her misconduct had long been spread in the upper-class circles of A City.
When they heard about Lily transferring her shares to her grandmother and aunt, people didn’t overthink. They simply assumed that Lily, knowing the damage to her reputation, had made that decision to avoid causing the company’s stock to plummet.
At a certain banquet within the upper-class circle, a group of noble ladies were chatting, and one of them brought up this matter, turning it into a topic of casual conversation.
The noble lady seated in the center of the group twitched at the mention of “Lily Gray”.
“You all continue, 1 have some private affairs to attend to at home, 1’11 be leaving first.” The elegantly poised, nobly dressed lady stood to leave. The other noble ladies immediately stopped their conversation, fawning over her as they escorted her out of the banquet hall.
Once the noble lady got into her car, the smile on her lips slowly faded.
Picking up her phone, the noble lady sounded impatient: “Ellie, the woman you mentioned last time, is her name Lily Gray?”
