Chapter 76 - 79: He Begins to Support Her
Leaving the hotel entrance, Lily Gray immediately let go of Aidan Lucas’ hand, noticing that Zara Lucas was not following them.
She had just been putting on a show for Zara, knowing that Aidan didn’t like getting too intimate with others. So, once outside, they automatically separated.
Aidan’s handsome eyebrows slightly furrowed, her hand was already loose before he could even say anything. This woman did it on her own accord.
Was she too self-conscious?
Suddenly feeling like something was missing from his released arm, he glanced at Lily without any change in his expression. The deep look in his eyes made Lily think that he was upset about what had just happened.
Once they got into the car, she nervously explained, “I’m sorry, Zara is my college friend, and she also happens to be Austin Lucas’s sister. She was brought up by her mother outside, so she’s not very polite in social situations. Anyway, don’t take what she said too seriously.”
With Aidan’s status, it would probably anger her too if she was mistaken for a gigolo while coming over for her sake.
“Do you have any relations with that woman? His voice was cold, and his eyebrows and eyes were filled with lofty pride.
Lily Gray shook her head, “Of course not.”
“Then that’s it. Since there is no relationship, why do you have to take responsibility for her actions?”
It was only then that Lily realized how she had gotten too used to following behind Zara and cleaning up all sorts of messes for her in the past half a year.
This was a bad habit that she must break!
Seeing Lily’s constantly changing expressions, Aidan couldn’t help but let a smile creep onto his lips. “You don’t need to go to Windstead Square now, I’ll take you somewhere else.”
“Where?”
He looked at her, his gaze deep, “You’ll know once we’re there.”
After that, Aidan took Lily to A City’s top-tier senior counsel, Mr. Fenton.
“Miss Gray, these are the materials Mr. Lucas asked me to prepare for you. You can take a look, and if you have any doubts, please just let me know and I will explain.”
Mr. Fenton was nearly fifty years old, but when he faced Aidan, he was very respectful, even addressing him as “Mr. Lucas.”
Lily knew that only those close to Aidan or the Lucas family members would call him “Mr. Lucas,” while outsiders called him “Mr. Cooper.”
She didn’t really understand why Aidan had brought her here and absent-mindedly flipped through the notarized materials. The next second, she was almost blinded by the content.
“When did 1 transfer my shares? Mr. Fenton, why is this happening!”
She suddenly recalled the salesperson at Windstead Square and the comments made by her acquaintances in their WhatsApp group. They had described her as being down and out, which she had thought was because of her divorce from Austin and being kicked out of the Gray family by her grandmother.
She never expected it was this!
Originally, she held 40% of the Gray family’s shares.
She was the largest shareholder of the Gray family. Even if her grandmother kicked her out and joined other shareholders to seize control of the Gray family, she could still claim the largest dividend at the end of the year.
But now, when she saw the notarized materials, she realized that her grandmother and her aunt had seized all of her assets through underhanded means while she was away accompanying Aidan to M Country.
“Miss Gray, of course, these shares were not transferred with your consent. However, your grandmother and your aunt had enough evidence, plus some people deliberately paved the way for them in the judiciary, so they managed to accomplish this without your knowledge.”
“But don’t worry, Miss Gray, as long as you say the word, 1 will immediately file an appeal on your behalf and recover your shares..”
