Chapter 149 - 152: Pretending to Be Asleep, Not Wanting to Bother Him
“Ethan, I hope you can keep your word.” Emily said, finally making way.
Aidan Lucas cast a deep glance at Emily and strode into the villa.
He didn’t have time to worry about the confusion in his heart right now, and Emily’s words reminded him of his unbearable childhood…
Aidan suppressed his inner restlessness and hurried upstairs to his bedroom. As he entered, he immediately saw Lily Gray lying on the bed.
Lily was lying there with her eyes closed, her brow furrowed as if she were extremely uncomfortable.
So thin, weak, and pale, with no trace of color on her face – even the tear stains on her cheeks were still damp.
She…had been crying?
For a moment, his black pupils contracted, and he hurried to her bedside.
Seeing the needle on the back of her hand, his eyes were filled with concern as he could not help but touch her feverish face.
With his deep black eyes, he looked at Lily on the bed, his gaze moving back and forth between her and the needle.
Until Ellie’s voice came from outside the door.
“Young Master, Madam has left.”
“Mmm.” He gently wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Young Master, Young Lady started experiencing morning sickness since this morning. She’s been uncomfortable all day and basically threw up everything she ate. I had the kitchen make some porridge for her, thinking she could at least eat something to fill her stomach. But she insisted on waiting for you to eat together, saying that you promised to come back this evening to eat…”
Seeing Aidan’s face grow darker, Ellie’s voice trailed off; by the end of her sentence, it had become inaudible.
He closed his eyes, his voice cold: “Take care of Young Lady according to the doctor’s instructions. As for tonight’s incident, make sure she doesn’t find out about it.”
Ellie nodded in agreement. The Young Master was unpredictable, and she was most afraid of him when his face was ashen.
“Young Master, rest assured I will see to it that no one spreads any gossip.”
Ellie withdrew. Tonight’s confrontation between Madam and the Young Master was bound to create some rumors among the servants. She had to suppress them quickly before they inadvertently reached the ears of Young Lady.
As for Aidan, he rubbed his tired brow and remained at Lily’s side until the IV drip finished. Then he personally removed the needle from her hand before lying down with her in his arms.

Lily Gray slept restlessly the whole night.
At first, she felt cold and weak all over.
By the latter part of the night, someone had brought a large warm stove to her side.
Though she was no longer cold, she felt stuffy and suffocated, as if something heavy were pressing down on her chest.
It was difficult even to turn slightly; she felt as if she were being crushed, as if weighed down by a heavy object – a sensation similar to sleep paralysis.
She struggled to turn, but as she did, a strong, slender arm suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her back without any effort.
She couldn’t sleep!
Lily Gray opened her eyes angrily, planning to have someone remove the stove, but was almost taken aback by the sight in front of her.
What had she seen?
Aidan Lucas… she had thought he wouldn’t return tonight.
Seeing him made her heart ache.
Moments before she passed out, her memory of last night flashed back. Lily lay back down.
She didn’t understand why she had such a reaction.
He was the one in the wrong, but she suddenly didn’t want to face him. With a guilty conscience, she turned away and feigned continued sleep.
However, the man holding her had already woken up as she tried desperately to twist and turn.
Watching her open her eyes all dreamy and blink in stunned disbelief.
The ice-cold heart that he’d had before falling asleep suddenly softened at her movements.
“Awake?” He suddenly pushed her down, his arms braced on either side of her body, looking down at her..
