Chapter 175: The Heartbeat Loses Its Rhythm

Seeing herself in the mirror, she was suddenly shocked.

Her pretty face was flushed, brimming with shyness.

There were traces left by Dan Hanjie on her neck and collarbone.

She looked as if she had been ruthlessly ravaged.

Qin Youxuan put her hand over her chest, her heart was racing as if it had lost its rhythm.

What had she been doing just now? She had almost been seduced by him.

“Whoosh”

Qin Youxuan forcefully splashed cold water on her face and leaned on the sink, stunned for a moment.

Flashes of Dan Hanjie saving her over and over again, standing up for her played in her mind…

Unconsciously, his bewitching figure had intensely imprinted in her mind.

Qin Youxuan’s face reddened slightly. She bit her lip hard, eyes full of panic.

For several days, Qin Youxuan holed up in the Yujing Villa, not stepping out at all.

It was not that she didn’t want to, but because Dan Hanjie didn’t allow it.

Her burns had not healed, and she had added new injuries to her foot, making it inconvenient to go out.

Plus, Dan Hanjie had said that until the safety hazards around her had been eradicated, she couldn’t return to the Qin family. So, Qin Youxuan comfortably stayed in this “Golden House” of Yujing Villa.

When she was bored, Dan Hanjie would always have someone prepare some information that would interest her, keeping her too busy to dwell on random thoughts.

Time flew by in the blink of an eye.

“Phew”

“Finally finished reading. If I stay any longer, I will grow mould!” Qin Youxuan climbed out of the bed and stretched.

She chucked the documents in her hand onto the bedside table, stood up, and energetically hopped around a few times.

She took a deep breath, breathed out, repeated the process several times before finally feeling alive again.

“Beep beep”

The mobile phone on the table buzzed, and Qin Youxuan reached out and grabbed it.

She glanced at the time and thought it was another message from Dan Hanjie reminding her to eat. She didn’t think much of it and was about to say she knew.

As her gaze touched the sender of the message, she paused.

Her pale fingers opened the text. “Xuan, Mr. Jie isn’t right for you. If you’re with him, you won’t have a future.”

The sender of the message was Meng Ziqi.

Qin Youxuan’s hand, clasping the phone, tightened. She stared at the line of text on there, her eyes radiating a shade of dull gray.

A spark that had yet to ignite felt as though a bucket of cold water had drenched it, chilling her to the core.

“I know.”

Qin Youxuan’s fingers paused, then she quickly typed a few words in reply.

Then she stared at Meng Ziqi’s text for a few seconds and chose to delete it.

Then she threw the phone onto the sofa.

“Knock knock”

“Miss Qin, your friend is here.” The housekeeper stood respectfully outside the door, reminding her in a soft voice.

“Okay, I know. I’ll be right down.” Hearing the housekeeper’s words, Qin Youxuan immediately stood up from the sofa and opened the door.

She gave the housekeeper a polite smile before stepping downstairs.

“Yaya!”

As soon as she got downstairs, Qin Youxuan excitedly shouted out.

“You damn woman, I thought you were missing. Turns out you’re hiding here living a life of luxury. Come here, I promise I won’t kill you!” Ning Yanan stood up from the sofa with an outraged look on her face.

“Uh…” Qin Youxuan paused, watching her cautiously. After confirming there was no danger to her life, she charged and pounced on Ning Yanan on the sofa.

“Here I am, at your mercy!”

“You damn woman, you really scared me this time.” Ning Yanan touched Qin Youxuan up and down. Only when she did not hear any complaints from Qin Youxuan did she finally sigh in relief.
