Chapter 311: One of Africa's Best

Chapter 311: One of Africa\'s Best

*12:02 pm*

Jason stood up from his yoga mat after completing an hour-long yoga session to help relieve his muscles of exhaustion and help with match recovery.

As much as he wanted to do some physical training, he also understood that it was best not to overuse his muscles when he was supposed to be recovering, especially after a match like the one he had participated in the previous night.

It was a successful outing, but Jason had been tackled hard quite a few times while he was looking for a goal, so he was sore in a few places and he had to make sure it didn’t become something else.

In his previous reality, he had become injury-prone early on in his career due to him constantly pushing himself because he knew he wasn’t good enough and he wanted to progress.

In this reality, he was much better than before, so he could allow himself the luxury of not training in his recovery periods, especially when it was for his own benefit.

Once he was done with his yoga session, Jason headed to his bathroom to wash up as he had a place to be for the next hour.

Zaidu had sent him the details of where and when they would meet and the time for the meeting was 1:30 pm, so he had to be on his way soon.

Luckily, the place they would be meeting wasn’t too far away from his location so he should be able to reach there in time… Probably.

Even if he didn’t reach there in time, Zaidu and whoever was with him would have to wait if they really had something important to discuss.

Thinking about it objectively, the whole thing was a bit shady and suspicious, but Jason didn’t think it could be something bad… Even if it was it couldn’t be life-threatening… Or career-threatening, he hoped.

‘Well, there’s no point in thinking about it now,’ Jason mused as he walked under the cold shower and started washing up.

Forty minutes later, Jason was done washing and was all dressed in a trendy outfit as he walked through his house, picking up his car key from the kitchen counter and walking outside.

Jason’s blue hoodie matched his car’s color, though the rest of his clothes were darker colored, and he had the trademark dark shades covering his eyes, paired with a nose mask.

He jumped into his car and soon drove out of the driveway and onto the street.

With a barely audible hum, the blue BMW picked up speed and began dashing down the streets of Porto heading for Adega So Nicolau, one of the higher-end restaurants in Porto, and also the location Zaidu had told Jason to come to.

It didn’t take too long for Jason to reach the restaurant, arriving at the parking lot at 1:25 pm.

He pulled into a parking spot, turned off the engine, and got down from his car, his face covered with a nose mask and dark-tinted glasses.

On his way to the restaurant, Jason noticed that there were a bit more people outside than previously.

It seemed the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus was slowly burning out and maybe in a few months people could be outside again.

Those were Jason’s thoughts, but he also knew that there had to be a vaccine or a cure for the virus created before that was possible, otherwise…

‘Well, I don’t think all of humanity would end because of a virus that doesn’t even turn people to undead, so we should be good,’ he mused as he walked into the restaurant.

Someone quickly walked up to him and Jason told him the reservation number for the private room that had been booked for the meeting.

On hearing the reservation number, the attendant swiftly led Jason towards the private room and soon they were in front of a door that was pushed open by the attendant.

Jason walked past the attendant and stepped into the room slowly, his eyes falling on two people seated in the room who were previously talking but had turned to the door on hearing it open.

One of the people seated at the table was Zaidu Sanusi, Jason’s teammate.

The second person however caused a shock to Jason.

It was a face that would be recognized by any OG football fan who paid attention to football legends.

Seated at the table with Zaidu Sanusi was Jay-Jay Okocha, a widely known legend of football and one of the greatest footballers to ever come out of the African continent.

Widely touted to be as skilled as Ronaldinho Gaucho in pure dribbling abilities, Jay-Jay Okocha was a god on the ball.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to win any trophies due to him not joining any big team in his active years, he was still an acknowledged legend of football.

Some people even said, one of the major contributing factors to his lack of silverware was because he was never serious with the sport despite having the talent to run circles around a whole team of 11 players by himself.

He was way too playful on the field and would rather dribble the whole team than score a goal even when his team needed it and he was capable of doing so.

It was part of his charms though and it was impossible for Jason not to recognize his face.

Okocha never bothered with media presence, but as one of the people that Jason had learned from (by watching videos), there was no way for Jason not to know him.

Seeing both Zaidu Sanusi and Jay-Jay Okocha in one room, Jason immediately noticed one similarity that all three of them had, and immediately he felt like he knew why this meeting was arranged in the first place.

All three of them were Nigerians so it wasn’t hard to figure out the direction this whole situation was heading to… Or so Jason wanted to believe, but he knew that there could be many other reasons why they were meeting.

However, Jason really hoped that it was as he thought as it was something he wouldn’t say no to and he had even been looking for such an opportunity in the first place.
