Vol. 3 - Chapter 47 - Wait for me
Lilinoa, whose face was wet due to tears; Olivia, who shivered as her head bowed solemnly; and all of the members, who guessed the situation by looking at my murderous expression, rushed toward Gill and started screaming and crying when they realized that he would never move again.
"I\'m sorry, Gray," Akuido muttered as he approached me. I could see the intense sorrow, regret and a lot of things from Akuido\'s face as his tightly clenched fist shivered slightly.
For Akuido, Gill was a beloved student of combat. He had happily reported to me about how quick of a learner he was.
Again, he couldn\'t protect him. It was utterly frustrating and unforgivable. That was why I could understand why he wanted to blame himself.
However, if anyone was to blame, it should be the person who had thought up and participated in this disgusting scenario, and me, who had not grown up at all.
"Don\'t apologise."
"Gray, you—"
"I will leave the rest to you."
Akuido tried to say something, but I interrupted him with my urgent request.
"I understand. Leave it to me," Akuido gritted his teeth and nodded.
Just as I was about to invoke teleportation, I was suddenly hugged from behind. This sweet scent, Lilinoa.
"Lili?"
"I will also go!"
Lilinoa shouted from my back with a determined voice. That was just like her to say something like that, I knew it.
"You and Olivia must stay here."
"No," she immediately replied.
"Gray, did you already forget the order from my father?" Olivia brought up Iskandar\'s instructions to me as she put her right hand on her thin waist.
"Doesn\'t matter. You can report anything as you like."
"What!?"
Perhaps my reply was too unexpected. I looked away from the speechless Olivia, pulled away Lilinoa from behind me, and pushed her lightly toward Akuido.
"Gray?"
As Lilinoah tried to rush again, I pointed my right palm at her to indicate my rejection.
"From here on is our territory. Amateurs should stay behind."
"Amateur? I can use holy magic and healing magic, and I have learned martial arts from my father since childhood! We will not be a burden."
It was clear from this statement. Iskandar had only trained the two of them without teaching them the essence of fighting. Well, I thought it must be because they were that important to Iskandar.
"You really don\'t have any idea."
And the less you know, the happier you will be. If they had known about it, it just meant they were in the same wrestling area as us. Only a few people like the monocle man or Iskandar held the one-way ticket to the underworld, where demons were rampaging around. They knew where they were going to end up.
It was just my hunch, but the one pulling the string behind the scene this time was also from our human side.
"Then what!? A warrior will!? Or should I prepare for death!? Don\'t take me as an idiot! Even I know that much!!"
The words were warm and sweet, making me want to laugh and hug them. That was why I might be envious of them.
"No, it\'s the difference between having It here and not having it here," I said, pressing my thumb on my chest.
"Having it? What do you mean!?" Olivia asked, pulling a scowl on her face.
"A monster," I replied gravely.
"Monster? Are you trying to evade the question!!"
"I know you can\'t understand. That\'s why I can\'t take you along with me."
I turned my back to them and invoked teleportation.
"Wa-wait a minute!!"
A wind barrier appeared around Olivia, enclosing her from all sides as she tried to run towards me.
"What!? Let me out!!"
Olivia tried to attack at the wind wall, but of course, nothing happened. It would be a hassle if she acted on her own. I would have to make her stay quietly there until it was over.
"Calogero, do it."
"........."
Calogero bowed silently.
The opponent was [Laguna], an outlaw. It was easy to see what they might be thinking. Then, it was necessary to have some kind of insurance.
Of course, the possession of firearms was a violation of the agreement, but now, in this tense situation, there was no need to protect it. I was sure Calogero would do his best until the end.
I turned to Lilinoa and the others and said, "Wait here together with Gill."
"Gray—"
As Lilinoa\'s screams shook my eardrums, I teleported to the northwest district, where their headquarter was located. I’d already know the location of Breathgarm from the information Krama had provided.
It was the mansion at the end of the road, straight ahead from here.
"Now, let\'s go."
Breathgarm, [Laguna], and then that piece of shit who was playing this disgusting scenario from behind. This was a war that they had started. I would show them what true help looks like. They would not mind, right? After all, that was the end they had desired yourself, right?
I moved slowly down the road.
