Chapter 87: [Colossal]
Mori\'s concentration was higher than usual.
He fixated on the monster, for one, and on casting spells without any assistance, or mana meter.
He knew most of their costs, so he could keep somewhat track of it.
The colossal titan struck the ground again, and again, making it shake and causing a ruckus.
Mori\'s balance was kept by Maël, while he pointed two fingers toward the titan.
Let\'s see if this works.
At once, around 4 more chains got out of the ground, aiming for the limbs of this titan.
Only half of them hit, but that was good enough for Mori, who smiled.
Yet, the titan kept going forward.
It was in a fiery rage, thrashing around as it tried progressing forward, slightly slowed.
Suddenly, it reached backward.
It grabbed a sword from its back, and slowly dragged it out of it.
It took it in its hand, and threw it at Mori.
The size of that sword was huge.
Mori dodged it easily, but another one came his way, forcing him to take a turn.
The monster then grabbed two remaining swords, and threw them behind him.
Mori was yet again in front of the monster, but as he turned around on himself, realized he was boxed in.
Mori was slightly struggling but closed his eyes for a moment.
He pointed two fingers at the monster, a giant sword piercing the sky again.
This time, the absence of clouds allowed him to see it in its entirety.
It was truly a sight.
It was slightly smaller than the monster, a goal he desperately tried to accomplish.
A sword as big as the one that destroyed Dustriver would cause him more problems than it would solve, but this size should work perfectly.
"You\'re a ruler too, now."
Mori looked around once more, the four swords that the monster had thrown had a chain linking them up.
Most likely the one he saw hanging on its back.
Mori looked up a second time.
Did it start falling, or not?
The sword seemed like it started falling, but the speed at which it did was painfully slow.
He was backing up, but the monster kept walking forward.
Mori\'s back was soon going to hit the chains.
"Jump over it," he said.
"How about you do it?" replied Maël.
"Just do it."
He heard a short laugh.
"Remember, you let me take over. I\'m the one in charge here. I help when I feel like it, and when I don\'t, you\'ll have to beg me for it."
Really?!
Really.
I don\'t need you. Fine, let me handle this.
Mori got his hands up again, ready to conjure more chains.
He could see it in slow motion.
The monster\'s eyes lit up, as if a fiery ball ignited inside them.
The air whistled, its arm faster than Mori had ever seen before.
Its fist itself was of an immense size.
Mori had no time to think, the fist would reach him in less than a split second.
It approached quickly, its size blocking his vision completely.
It mattered little.
All he could think of, in that split second, is curse himself and brace for impact.
However, it felt as if time slowed.
Maël\'s mark took over his whole body, and took control by force.
It was as if Mori was pushed back into his own mind.
Invisible bars restraining him from acting, reacting, or even talking.
It wasn\'t his body anymore.
It was hers.
In that short instant, she jumped while spinning, punching the giant fist coming toward them.
The air split, dust raising from the ground as a shockwave was emitted from the point of impact.
It looked like two unstoppable forces meeting each other.
They both recoiled the same way. The monster\'s arm slowly retracted while Maël reached the ground.
She started running at speed even faster than what he had seen in the dungeon.

He could only tell by the degree at which everything else seemed to blur.
He just couldn\'t focus on details at all, but some of it was also due to Maël\'s focus.
Her hawk eyes were looking left and right.
She was paying attention to its shoulder, its fist, its elbow, its knees, its feet, its eyes, and she swept the area once in a while.
Mori would\'ve felt dizzy if he could, at that time.
The most impressive part was the colossal giant keeping up with her.
He spun around, easily keeping up with her.
He threw a punch again, another shockwave emitted as Maël punched right back.
In the next instant, Mori witnessed as several shockwaves repeatedly hit them.
His hair was pushed backwards each time, while his clothes had the same treatment.
Maël kept the pace up, making sure she would regain the ground each time and be ready to hit back at the next punch, which she easily matched in speed and strength.
She pushed off the ground once more. It looked as if she would match his punch again, yet this time she propelled herself higher.
The giant\'s fist started going slightly higher, but it realized it way too late, she was already on top of its fist, running up its arm.
Its skin was dry and almost volcanic. The heat it was expelling was considerable, it felt suffocating when on top of it, like this.
She was at its elbow, running toward the shoulder as it used one of its other hands to try and hit them off it.
Maël had anticipated that move, already prepared to jump over it.
As she did, Mori could hear the sound of the fist scraping against the shoulder under them.
As she was falling back down on its face, she punched it with all her might, a loud noise echoing, as if lightning had struck beside them.
It almost seemed as if space itself barely handled that hit, while the monster\'s entire body seemed to be absorbing the shock.
Its feet sunk into the ground, cracks emanating from them for hundreds of meters.
Mori, still controlled by Maël, was on top of his face.
She was looking at him, but quickly jumped down, dodging all its arms that were heading for her.
She finally looked up, the sword Mori had cast was going to reach it.
Slowly, it did.
It tried moving out of the way, but it was as if the sword was attached to it, only getting reeled in.
He couldn\'t dodge it.
It slowly pierced through its back, loud sound resembling those of pain coming out of its mouth.
Something Mori couldn\'t anticipate however, happened.
No way.
Four of its arms reached toward its back, grabbing the handle of the sword as it was going through its torso.
Slowly, it started pulling it out.
The fire in its eyes looked even more intense.
What are you doing?! You\'ll let it take it out?
Maël seemed unsure, but as it was only halfway out, she sprinted toward the monster.
She was in its reach, ready to jump up to punch its torso.
It looked as if the monster was smiling, despite it being unable to, for the lack of a mouth.
In an instant, it got the sword all the way out and swept horizontally with it.
It wielded that sword as if it was nothing in that moment.
She had already started the whole range of motions to jump.
Instead of trying to stop it, she tried adding more power to it.
The ground shook like an earthquake hit it, a crater seemingly forming right then and there.
She would reach the monster before the sword ever got close to them.
What?
She had barely made it halfway up that she connected her punch with its skull.
The colossal giant had leaned into it.
It barely made an impact, she was uncontrollably falling toward the ground as the giant was making yet another attempt at sweeping at them using the sword.
Mori, despite being caged in his body, was able to get chains out of the ground. They grabbed his hand, swirling around it and pulling, but not fast enough.
The sword struck them.
The chains pulled them out of the edge\'s path, but the blade still hit them, sending them spinning to the ground.
His body rolled several times before coming to a stop, next to one of the swords the monster had thrown earlier.
As Maël painfully got up, they saw as the monster used the conjured sword to break the chains binding its limbs.
Good. So now it\'s going to be faster and more mobile.
And stronger.
Stronger?
Cursed chains. The spell I used to contain myself, before some demonfolk named Xannos used an inscription to seal those portals on my body. They have sealing properties, and now that they\'re off, he\'s most likely at full strength now.
And you gave it a sword.
