Chapter 50 - Little Balls Thoughts
Chapter 50 - Little Ball\'s Thoughts
Xiu Mei awkwardly sat on her own seat in the dining table. It was weird watching her superior bringing out all the plates full of sumptuous foods that she discovered was what he personally cooked for her. She wasn’t sure what she should do—snatch the plate out of his hands and stop him from trying to serve her or should she be thankful and let him do everything on his own.
After all, she knew the motive behind Lu Chen’s actions today. She had given him permission to court her and to try to win her heart. But still, she couldn’t just let her superior serve her which was too different when they are in the office where she serves him instead and do a lot of work for him.
The fact that Lu Chen was really willing to chase her heart hasn’t sunk in Xiu Mei’s mind yet. She still sees Lu Chen as her own boss, and still not as someone who can potentially be her husband that she can be comfortable with.
While Xiu Mei contemplated her life decisions for the future onwards, Lu Qiang settled comfortably beside her so-called Mom. Even though he might seem calm, he was actually skipping lightly showing his good mood.
He felt very relaxed and calm watching his Dad serving all the foods, which was quite an unusual view after all the years he’d been with him. Lu Qiang took a peek at her Mom that was seemingly spacing out on her seat, probably surprised by his Dad’s appearance in the morning.
Lu Qiang, however, was not surprised with his Dad’s appearance in her Mom’s place. After all, this was a well-built plan by this Father-Son duo to trap Xiu Mei. A plan that was originally and impulsively started by him.
> Flashback a few days ago
Lu Qiang was already quite used to Lu Chen coming home too late, and sometimes not even going home at all. That night, Lu Qiang couldn’t sleep at all even after turning around a few times on his bed.
He was an intelligent kid that likes to move on his own despite having his own nanny and the butler watching over him everyday. This little ball climbed off his bed and decisively left his room to go to the kitchen.
Maybe he needs more milk, yes.
Lu Qiang independently poured his own milk and drank it before placing it on the counter where the maids tomorrow can wash it for him. When he just arrived at the top of the stairs, he heard a couple of steps signifying that someone had entered their home.
Lu Qiang already knew how heavy the surveillance is in his home, and with that knowledge, he had used it to escape once from here. He was quite assured that the people who had entered were his Dad and Lu Shao and it was quickly confirmed when he heard their voices downstairs.
"Search everything that you can find about Lee Yu An and what is his relationship with Xiu Mei." It was his Dad’s voice.
"Yes, boss." Lu Qiang knew that it was Lu Shao who had replied.
Lee Yu An?
Lu Qiang blinked curiously as he repeated the conversation he had heard. This Lee Yu An is connected with Mom?
To satisfy his curiosity, Lu Qiang immediately tiptoed back to his bedroom and locked his own door. He quickly grabbed and opened his laptop, his fingers moving fast all over the keys. After half an hour, he was able to find some information about that person, Lee Yu An.
The little ball quickly understood that this person has a good relationship with her Mom. He had seen a lot of pictures where his Mom has been clinging to Lee Yu An—hugging him, being carried on his shoulders, kissing his cheeks and the likes.
From those, Lu Qiang was able to analyze that his Mom is really intimate with this Lee Yu An. An uncomfortable feeling bubbled in his heart.
Was this guy going to steal his Mom from him? What if he takes her away somewhere far away and he would never let her see him again?
No! He wouldn’t let that happen. Xiu Mei had already let him call her his Mom and he wouldn’t let her leave him alone.
He needs to stop Lee Yu An from taking her away. But how?
Lu Qiang thought deeply, his finger making rhythmical sound on the table.
After thinking for a few minutes, Lu Qiang finally remembered his Dad. Lately, he noticed that he was more expressive than usual. He also noticed how nice his Dad is acting to his Mom before when she was sick.
Lu Qiang had wanted to take good care of her, but his Dad was quick to oppose his idea and locked him out of her room. Even though he had complained a lot and stomped loudly in front of him, he never budged and allowed him to visit her at that time.
He was only able to see her when his Mom had already recovered from her sickness that next day. He had even noted that all the foods on that table that day was all for his Mom’s nourishment.
Hmm....so does Dad like Mom?
Lu Qiang considered that idea for quite a while before he came up with another thing.
If Dad likes Mom, would Mom stay with them then?
Lu Qiang thought back to the person he had chosen to be his Mom. He remembered when his Mom called him out in the playground before when he once escaped from home to explore a little.
With some money in his pocket, he resolutely rode a cab to explore far away from his home. He was quickly attracted to the sight of other kids on the playground so he did not hesitate to go there and watch a little more of the scene before him.
His Dad hired a tutor for him to be home-schooled hence, Lu Qiang wasn’t able to mingle with other kids his age and didn’t know how to interact with them. So at that time, he was only able to awkwardly sit under that tree and watch the other kids playing as he didn’t how to approach them at all when another scene caught his eye.
His ears followed the source of the sound when someone yelled "Mom!". There, he saw a kid jump onto his mother’s arms and a male, probably his father, standing beside them. It seems like the parents are here to pick the child up and he noticed the gentle smile on the face of the parents as they talked with their child.
In that split second, Lu Qiang remembered the voices of the maids whispering in the kitchen. He had heard their conversation and he was quick to realize that they were talking about him. He already knew from the very start that Lu Chen wasn’t really his Dad. He knows it very well but when he heard it being talked about by other people, Lu Qiang felt something squeezing his heart.
He felt uncomfortable hearing it that’s why he had run away from home.
