Chapter 374 - Pineapple Face
The chandeliers mounted on the ceilings shone like the jewelry of architecture, reflected on the woman\'s face brilliantly. Dressed in a peach-colored knee-length dress, her delicacy has captured someone beyond imagination, added with her smoking hot features. \'\'Is she beautiful or my eyes playing a trick?\'\' Kurt muttered, staring at the woman, sitting a little distance away from her.
\'\'What did you say? I did not hear you.\'\' Kyle whispered in a shallow voice. She squeezed the earpiece to her ear to hear his voice. With an earpiece on her ear, she was waiting for Landon to get information from him on the command of a certain FBI agent.
\'\'Nothing,\'\' Kurt said, over the call, averting his eyes. \'\'Don\'t beat around the bush when that criminal comes. Finish off the task fast.\'\'
\'\'Only if you keep quiet...\'\' Kyle stopped speaking when she found Landon approaching her. \'\'Hi..\'\' Kyle waved her hand.
\'\'I am late again, sorry.\'\' Landon apologized, which Kyle didnot mind. Famished, he ordered dinner for the two without taking his eyes off Kyle\'s figure.
\'\'Will you take another eon to start?\'\' Kurt snarled at Kyle like a growling dog again. Did she dress up as a princess for this pineapple face? He didnot like the way pineapple was looking at her.
Kyle, who was eating, threw the spoon on the table to express her anger. She glanced at Kurt, a threatening glare before addressing Landon. \'\'How is work going?\'\'
\'\'Good, babe,\'\' He said. \'\'Thanks for not giving upon us. About my mom...I know she is a little hard, but don\'t worry. She will accept you. Also, I will make sure she will not interfere with your freedom. You can happily work after we get married.\'\'
Kyle faintly nodded in agreement. Kurt, on the other hand, was looking at Landon as if he has grown three heads. Delusional bastard. Kurt wondered how on the earth that loose case agreed to date this pineapple face.
\'\'Is the food to your liking?\'\' Landon brought up a light-hearted topic.
\'\'Good.\'\' She smiled. \'\'I didnot hear you talking about your company partners? Who are they? What\'s your share in it?\'\'
\'\'Well, it\'s a little complicated.\'\' He said.
\'\'Like?\'\'
\'\'Keep it as a secret. I am only the stand-in CEO of the company. Don\'t ask me why, and again it\'s complicated, which I don\'t know.\'\' Landon said. \'\'But there is a man behind the creation of Leius pharma labs.\'\'
\'\'Who is it?\'\'
Kurt\'s attention has piqued.
\'\'He is very secretive. He doesn\'t like his name mentioned to anyone unless he approved. I will introduce you to him if he permits.\'\' Landon winked. \'\'But I can tell you one interesting fact about him.\'\' He continued when Kyle nodded. \'\'Have you ever thought why our company has a different name compared to other pharma labs?\'\'
\'\'No.\'\' Kyle shook her head. Kurt gave it a thought. Leius pharma labs. It is a bit different. The word sounds like Latin to him. Let\'s hear from that criminal.
Taking a sip of lemonade, Landon said. \'\'My company\'s name is the combination of my boss\'s name and the woman he loves,\'\' He had heard from Winter when she used to work in the company that the boss\'s obsession with a woman has reached the point that he has named his company after her. He knows the last three letters are a part of his boss\'s name, but Landon couldn\'t find the woman\'s name behind the first two letters.
Kyle was awed by the revelation. How much love he had towards that woman to even name his company after her? \'\'Are they married?\'\'
\'\'I am not sure. Boss doesn\'t like us questioning personnel.\'\' Landon shrugged.
\'\'Oh.\'\' She smiled. She didnot question him further. She has learned enough for tonight.
Finished with the dinner, Landon was staring at Kyle like a predator. His eyes never left her exposing neckline, which didnot go unnoticed by Kurt. He was probably away from a woman for a long time, or Kyle was looking sexy; Landon doesn\'t know, but tonight, she was making him feel like he wanted her so badly. He has been dating her for a month, but not even a kiss he could get from her. She slips off from his clutches like a grain of sand. Tonight, it is, he will have her. A wicked smile plastered on his lips. \'\'Come on. Let\'s go, Kyle. I will drop you at home.\'\'
\'\'You don\'t need to..I have my car.\'\'
\'\'No..noo..It\'s our date, and we are going together. I will ask a guard to drop the car at your home.\'\' He said, sensually touching her arms. A red flag raised in her mind. Why is this man always thinking about ravishing me? Kyle searched for an alibi to escape when she heard Kurt\'s voice like a savior. \'\'Get up, and run to the restroom. Now.\'\'
\'\'I want to use the restroom. I will be back.\'\' Kyle excused herself and escaped into the bathroom.
\'\'This woman.\'\' Landon sighed.
Closing the door of the bathroom shut, Kyle heaved a long deep breath. \'\'Thank you, Kurt.\'\'
\'\'I will wait at the parking slot. Don\'t take the elevator. He might search for you.\'\' Kurt said.
\'\'Are you seriously asking me to use steps?\'\' Kyle screamed. \'\'I am on the eleventh floor.\'\'
\'\'Utilize the chance to reduce the fat in your body.\'\' With that, Kurt hung up.
\'\'How I wish to kill you million times.\'\' Kyle jinxed him until she reached the parking slot. Panting, she found his car and stepped with the bit of energy left in her body. By then, she received a call from Landon.
\'\'Here goes another trouble.\'\' Landon didnot believe the alibi Kyle told, and she didnot care as well.
\'\'He is a grease oil.\'\' Kurt disdainfully said.
\'\'He is!....wait..wait...you are going in the wrong direction.\'\'
\'\'I know. Tonight you are going to stay at my place.\'\' Kurt said.
\'\'Why?\'\' She liked the idea of staying with him again.
Kurt didnot answer. His eyes were glued to the road. The way that criminal was ogling at Kyle with his nefarious eyes made his blood boil. The car weaved to the left suddenly and screeched to a halt with a bone-jarring force.
\'\'Why are we here?\'\' She asked, taking notice of the neon lights of a clothing store.
\'\'Your dress is depressing to my eyes. Let\'s go.\'\' Walking into the store, He searched every corner of the shop and passed her a dress. A satisfactory smile evoked on his lips. \'\'Change into this.\'\'
\'\'This? I will look like a clown!\'\' Ancient robes were better compared to the dress she was holding. But then again, Kurt didnot listen to her pleas, and to her surprise, he was praising the dress, the ancient dress she wore. \'He is like a storm, unpredictable and capricious.\'
...
For three days, Leena did nothing except for sleeping, eating, and chatting with Aunt Jalapeno. But the uneasiness in her body didnot wear off. After three days of rest, Leena went to the office. The employees gathered, wishing her a speedy recovery which put her in embarrassment. For that matter, Mandy stopped bitching about her, which Leena didnot like it.
Leena went into her office room. Moments later, Merl knocked on the door and stepped in. \'\'How are you feeling, Leena?\'\'
\'\'I am good. Feeling better.\'\'
Merl placed the banana smoothie on the table. \'\'Here you go—your favorite.\'\'
\'\'Thanks, Merl. But I have to turn down,\'\' Leena said. \'\'My husband issued a strict order to no outside foods.\'\'
\'\'Oh.\'\' Merl smiled stiffly. Her task ended when Leena fell. She doesn\'t mind if Leena accepts banana smoothies or not. She has brought the smoothie to avert the suspicion on her.
Not more than fifteen minutes, Leena worked, the pulsing sensation started on the left side of her head. Feeling nauseous, she rushed to the bathroom and vomited everything she ate in the morning. \'\'Is it food poison again? I am eating healthy foods, though. Nobody in the home has the problem. Why is it targetting me?\'\' She opened a pill bottle from the drawer and poured two tablets into her mouth. Only then, her headache stopped torturing her.
Leena didnot had the energy to look into Google. She directly texted her mom. [Mom: I have severe one-sided headache, mom. What might be the problem?]
[Leena baby: One-sided Headache! It might be a migraine, baby. Since when it started?]
[Mom: Three days]
[Leena: Why didn\'t you tell such a serious matter. Come to the hospital fast!]
