Chapter 263: Breaking Dong Cun’s Finger – 2

Chapter 263: Breaking Dong Cun’s Finger – 2

“Nope. Is it possible for me to meet Lu Chuwan?” Fu Zhi suspected that Lu Chuwan was connected to the foreign forces, so she needed to confirm it first.

If Jiang Ningbai did not get to the man as soon as possible, once the formula fell into the hands of a more professional team, smart people would soon be trying to use the White Demon as medicine.

Rising to his feet, Sheriff Zhao led Fu Zhi to the visiting room. No sooner had he opened the door than they heard Lu Chuwan shouting angrily at her lawyer. “Do you know who the hell I am? Get me out of here, you useless piece of sh*t!”

Fu Zhi stopped in her tracks.

Then, she turned to Sheriff Zhao and said, “Forget it. I think I don’t want to see her anymore.”

After all, no sane man would cooperate with a useless idiot like Lu Chuwan. Not only would she not offer any constructive help, but she would also drag anyone who tried to work with her down.

Sheriff Zhao did not know what to say.

‘So all women are fickle regardless of their age?’

Meanwhile, after receiving the call from Dong Cun, Yu Le rushed to the police station once he returned from work.

“Captain Yu.” All the policemen, regardless of whether they were resting or were on duty, stood up and greeted Yu Le.

Dong Cun hastily came out of his car. He threw his cigarette to the ground before walking up to Yu Le. “Brother Yu, I really appreciate you taking the time to come here. I’ll leave the matter in your hands then.”

“Don’t mention it. It’s not a big deal,” Yu Le said as he led Dong Cun into the police station. The expression on his face was grim.

“It’s true that this is a petty squabble between two girls. The adopted daughter feels we all treated her unfairly and she is hellbent on sending my niece to jail,” Dong Cun replied, chuckling as he shook his head helplessly.

“Since it’s a family matter, then try to settle it within the family after you take her back. If you leave them here, you will only create more work for us,” Yu Le said.

Sheriff Zhao was stunned when he saw Yu Le. “But this is clearly a criminal dispute, and serving civilians is our duty as policemen. I don’t consider it additional work.”

The female police officer standing beside Sheriff Zhao tugged at his sleeve.

Yu Le let out a chuckle, looking amicable as he said, “I’m afraid you’ve made a mistake, Sheriff Zhao. This is clearly a civil dispute. It’s just about a few books and potted flowers, all of which are the Lu Family’s property, so I’m sure they know what they should do.”

“So...” Dong Cun did not tell Yu Le that the flowers had been grown by Fu Zhi, so Yu Le added, “If anybody asks, just say I’m the one who gave the order. Go release her.”

“Captain Yu!” Sheriff Zhao glanced at Fu Zhi, who was playing with her phone right now, and broke into a cold sweat. He turned back to face Yu Le and said, “She’s the victim, and she’s suffered great loss. I think we should—”

“Lu Chuwan knocked over the flowers by accident. There’s only one witness, and there’s a probability that she might be lying as well, so we can’t take her statement into account, don’t you think so?”

Yu Le glanced at Fu Zhi and added in a soft voice, “Even if we want to get to the bottom of this case, the victim has to stay and give a statement. Therefore, we can’t let Fu Zhi go back either.”

To cope with the nature of his work, Yu Le had developed a special way of speaking and modus operandi that left people unable to find fault in his words.

He had implied that if Fu Zhi wanted to do this, she’d have to stay at the police station to give her statement as well. This was very effective for an ordinary girl attending high school, but unfortunately, Fu Zhi was no ordinary girl.

The atmosphere in the police station was tense, and Sheriff Zhao was sweating bullets. He gnashed his teeth tightly, his brain spinning fast to think of some way to tackle Yu Le’s speech, but nothing came out.

Then, a cold voice rang out.

“Who do you think you are to give that order?”

It was Fu Zhi. She raised her head from her phone as a cold smirk dangled at the tips of her lips. “Very well then. From this moment onward, you won’t be able to give any more orders.”

Nobody knew what she was talking about, and Dong Cun heaved a sigh of relief. He touched his pocket, as he suddenly had an urge to smoke.

“Girl, do you know that it’s illegal to make fun of a public servant? Not only will you be fined, but it will also affect your personal credibility,” Yu Le said. Then, he turned to Sheriff Zhao and added, “Why are you still standing here? Chop-chop, release her.”

Sheriff Zhao had no other choice but to do as Yu Le had ordered. He reluctantly led Lu Chuwan out of the visiting room and uncuffed her.

Lu Chuwan glanced at Fu Zhi, but she did not dare say anything to her.

Yu Le nodded at Dong Cun before turning to Fu Zhi. In a stern voice, he said, “I remember that you were involved in an attempt murder case? Well, although there isn’t enough evidence, we still have to soothe the citizens of Yu City. Therefore, I’m going to keep you in detention for 24 hours.”

“I will leave with Wanwan first then.” Dong Cun was curious to know how Lu Chuwan had raised the Valley Orchid. He did not know what would happen to Fu Zhi, but it was not his business.

“Thank you, Brother Yu. I will...”

Ring—

Before Dong Cun could finish his sentence, Yu Le’s phone rang.

Yu Le had set a special ringtone for the higher-ups, so whenever that ringtone rang, something big must have happened.

He pulled his phone out and saw that Old Master Jiang, the head of the Jiang Family in the capital, had sent him a voice message.

Piqued by curiosity, Yu Le played the voice message.

The first thing he heard was a cold sneer. Then, Old Master Jiang said, “Captain Yu, bossy much, huh?”

Yu Le did not understand what Old Master Jiang was trying to say, but he did not have a good feeling about it. His heart began to race, and sweat started to ooze from his forehead. He then replied, “I don’t understand what you are talking about, Old Master Jiang.”

“How easy it is to turn a criminal dispute into a civil dispute. I’m truly amazed, Captain Yu. It seems to me that it’s going to be just a matter of time before you take control over the entire capital.”

Every word that Old Master Jiang said pierced Yu Le’s heart like a dagger.

His body shuddered, and he turned to look at Fu Zhi.

She was sitting on a chair now, playing with her phone.

Her profile was pretty, yet it gave off a chilling, dangerous vibe.

Yu Le opened his mouth, as he felt that he had messed with the wrong person.

“You have to settle this matter my way,” Fu Zhi replied as she put her phone away. “Bring her back where she belongs. I do not want to see the same mistake again, you hear me?”

Yu Le broke into a cold sweat. The last thing he wanted was to offend Old Master Jiang. Even though he was quite surprised that Fu Zhi knew someone like Old Master Jiang, he did not ask anything. He just nodded and said, “It was my bad. I’ll do as you say.”

Fu Zhi did not want to talk to Dong Cun anymore. She walked straight past him without sparing him a glance. However, just before she could get out of the police station, Dong Cun called out her name.

Yu Le had not put his phone on speaker, so Dong Cun was clueless about the conversation between him and Old Master Jiang. “You just let Fu Zhi go like that? She is also suspected of murder!”

“Shut up, you damn son!”

Before Yu Le could say anything, an old man in his sixties appeared outside the police station. His face was livid from rage.

He slowly walked into the police station with the help of a butler. The moment he stepped into the building, he slapped Dong Cun’s face hard.

It was a loud slap, and a palm print soon appeared on Dong Cun’s cheek.

Dong Cun looked in disbelief at his father and said, “Dad?”

“Idiot, hurry up and apologize to Ms. Fu Zhi!”
