Chapter 506: The Importance Of Unified Measurement
Chapter 506: The Importance Of Unified Measurement
The patient was sent back, and the operating room became quiet.
Zheng Ren practically dragged his tired body along with him to change clothes. His mind was still thinking about the liver cancer patient’s 64-slice CT scan with 3D-image reconstruction images.
Su Yun was right. It was convenient for him to always look for the CT room to settle these things, but Sister Zhao did not have the obligation to always help him.
However, how would he be expressing his ‘interest’ to Sister Zhao?
Should he pay her directly? If it was too direct, Sister Zhao would not accept it.
It was better to give her a gas card. It would be better this way. Regarding the amount of money he should put in it, 1000 yuan would not be considered either too much or too little. It was just right.
Zheng Ren made up his mind. He had practically solved the issue at hand.
He had done four more TIPS surgeries today for a total of eleven. He was still a long way from reaching his intended target.
Other than being slightly worried because he did not have the time to train for the surgery, Zheng Ren was not in a hurry to complete the Ultimate Mission of the Crown Jewel.
He was so tired. He had to sleep well tonight. Hopefully, there would be no emergency treatment necessary tonight. Zheng Ren prayed to the Night Shift God once again. He was very pious.
While changing, Zheng Ren’s phone went off. It was a notification from WeChat.
[Zheng Ren, have you not eaten? What do you want to eat?]
It was Xie Yiren.
It was not until Xie Yiren reminded him that Zheng Ren recalled he had not eaten lunch or dinner.
Zheng Ren had been busy because of Du Chunfang’s matter. He did not feel hungry at all.
[Well, I haven’t eaten yet. Have you?]
[ I just went out with Sister Yanran and the others. I was waiting for a table when I was called to the General Surgery Department. Let’s eat together!]
[Okay, I’ll go check on the patients first. I’ll see you at the usual place.]
After replying to the message, Zheng Ren happily turned off his phone.
Actually, there were not many patients for him to check in with at the normal wards at the moment. The serious patients were all in the ICU. However, Zheng Ren still went to check on Du Chunfang’s postoperative condition out of habit.
After the surgery, the symptoms and other various data were not apparent yet. All he could see were the stable numbers on the suction machine and the display monitor.
Su Yun did not sit around in his chair to make his observations. In his opinion, after Du Chunfang blocked the artery catheter, all symptoms would be alleviated in between twelve to twenty-four hours.
These were all trivial matters.
Zheng Ren saw that he was not busy, so he asked, “Are you going out for dinner later?”
“What are you going to eat?” Su Yun asked back.
Zheng Ren had no idea.
Eating for Zheng Ren was considered a necessity. As long as he could eat his fill, Zheng Ren was not very concerned about the rest.
Looking at Zheng Ren’s expression, Su Yun immediately guessed the truth.
Pursing his lips, Su Yun said, “You don’t even know what you want to eat. What’s the use of having you?”
“It’s fine if you don’t want to leave. I’ll be leaving first then.” Zheng Ren smiled and turned to leave.
“Who said I don’t want to follow you!” Su Yun caught up, turned around, and said goodbye to the ICU doctor before going downstairs with Zheng Ren.
The two of them went straight to Section D of the underground parking lot. Xie Yiren, Chu Yanran, and Chu Yanzhi were already waiting in the car, laughing and chatting.
Su Yun was obviously tired.
Du Chunfang’s incident was not tiring on the body but on the heart.
Along the way, Su Yun began to tell the girls the story of the patient who had the surgery tonight.
Although it had turned out alright, the sad atmosphere within the story could not be ignored.
When she heard Zheng Ren blocking the ICU door to buy time, Xie Yiren’s eyes were full of tears. She glanced at Zheng Ren from the corner of her eyes, full of pride.
Su Yun was a good storyteller. The beginning of the story was laid out before being followed by the climax. However, it was not abrupt or out of nowhere. It followed a linear flow, but still has its moments of unexpectedness. He really knew how to tell a story.
When they arrived at the restaurant, they had just reached the part of the story about stopping the tranquilizer and getting the patient’s thumbprint.
After getting out of the car, a few girls surrounded him as they wanted to continue listening to his story. Su Yun looked up and saw they had arrived at Xiao Longkan. He frowned.
“Huh? Su Yun, do you not eat spicy food?” Chu Yanran noticed the change in Su Yun’s expression and asked curiously.
“I can but only up to a certain extent.” Su Yun sighed. He was so engrossed in bragging that he forgot to ask where and what they would be eating.
Forget it. He was already here with them.
It was already very late. Even if Xiao Longkan was busy, their turnover was quick and the number of diners gradually decreased as they waited.
A few of them randomly found an empty seat and sat down. Xie Yiren and Chu Yanzhi picked up the menu and started ordering plenty of dishes.
“Waiter, I want the Mandarin Duck Pot,” Su Yun said.
“Hey, don’t be such a killjoy!” Chu Yanzhi immediately became unhappy. “You’re ordering the Mandarin Duck Pot when we’re out here to eat Chongqing hotpot!”
Following that, the three girls began to criticize Su Yun harshly.
In the end, Su Yun compromised and ordered a slightly spicier soup base.
Zheng Ren did not care. He just watched from the side and chuckled.
As long as Xie Yiren was around, it was as if Zheng Ren had lost all of his intelligence. He was no longer pretending to be stupid but actually was.
After ordering a bunch of dishes, the waiter left and Su Yun continued to tell stories.
When the hotpot was served, Su Yun stared blankly at the red soup.
Had he not ordered the mild spiciness level? Were all the soup bases in Xiao Longkan so red in color? Looking at it, he felt like he was about to have an acute attack of hemorrhoids.
A plate of tripe and yellow throats were put into the soup.
The soup was bubbling inside the pot, the tripe and yellow throats rolling inside.
“Let’s eat!” Chu Yanzhi held her chopsticks and could not hold back the excitement in her heart. Everyone could hear the joy and excitement in her words.
They were all hungry so no one felt the need for pleasantries as they all started eating.
Zheng Ren was not hungry, so he kept putting food into Xie Yiren’s bowl. Xie Yiren was a little shy at first but after everyone made fun of her, she gradually got used to it.
“Sigh... You both are acting so lovey-dovey in a corner. Are you trying to make the rest of us feel bad?” Su Yun’s face was flushed as he kept huffing and puffing.
However, even though he was almost speechless from the spiciness, he still did not forget to taunt them when he saw Xie Yiren putting food into Zheng Ren’s bowl.
“You really can’t eat spicy food. I thought that stuff like this would be nothing based on your drinking habits.” Chu Yanzhi’s forehead was slightly damp as she continued eating happily.
“Those are two different things,” Su Yun said. “Why didn’t you tell me that we’d be going to eat such spicy food? Why is it so spicy?”
“We usually go out and eat spicy food. We can’t eat his spicy food either. It’s too spicy,” Chu Yanzhi said with a smile.
“This incident proves the importance of Qin Shihuang’s unified measurement.” Su Yun concluded that Xiao Longkan’s food was definitely spicy.
Zheng Ren and Xie Yiren only had eyes for each other and did not notice Su Yun’s embarrassment at all.
Hotpot? If they were drinking, they would sit around the charcoal fire and eat and drink while chatting. They could just slowly eat for the whole day.
Without drinking, they would be full within an hour.
Su Yun returned to the ICU and continued Du Chunfang’s observation. In his words, no matter what, he had to make sure this girl lived and experience the warmth of life.
Because it was very late, Chu Yanzhi, Chu Yanran, and Xie Yiren all went home together. Zheng Ren was thrown out of the car earlier. As he watched the Volvo XC60’s curvaceous front and rear lines disappear into the distance, he felt a little disappointed.
That night itself was very peaceful. Zheng Ren’s prayers seemed to have worked.
When he woke up, the sky was already bright.
