Chapter 62 Reality (6)
"So, did you guys understand what Luke meant by that?" Lana asked. "What is the tip?"
"It is the sun," Jake replied.
"The sun?" Lana frowned. "Ah… if we follow the sun, we will find the dungeon?"
"I think so… usually, since the environment of that map is quite troublesome, fighting when the light of the sun is messing with your vision is the last thing anyone would do," Jake replied. "It is a simple, but effective way to keep the dungeon hidden."
"I suppose that makes sense…" Louise nodded after she slightly tilted her head.
"Wait, let\'s rest for a little bit before logging in… I am stuffed," Lana said.
"This kind of lifestyle will ruin us… I guess we also need to take some walks in the mornings," Louise said. "It has been a while since I had any decent workout."
Jake wanted to say that he deserved at least some peace in the morning, but then again, for the little he knew about Louise, she probably will imagine that Justin will be at every corner waiting for her to do something. Still, why did Jake have to play the reliable elder brother when he was the youngest of the three? Nevertheless, Jake decided to put that aside and then log in. In the end, both of them followed him.
"I am going to select the third mission of the fourth map," Jake said. "Hopefully, this time completing the mission will unlock the fifth map."
"You didn\'t unlock yet?" Louise frowned. "I suppose, the system didn\'t expect someone would reach the fifth map so fast… by doing almost the minimal amounts of runs in each mission."
That made sense… but Jake still was hoping that to get the fifth map, he won\'t need five thousand points in fame or something. That would be too much, even if the difficulty level of the current mission would be hard and require many attempts.
"What is the reward for completing the mission?" Lana asked.
"Ten thousand coins, one thousand points of fame, and a bloodline," Jake replied.
"Bloodline? So, can I become a half-cat?" Lana asked.
"... Sure, why not?" Jake frowned.
Jake could imagine that it would be a pain to take her question seriously. While it wouldn\'t be weird if the system changes the appearances of the players with those bloodlines a little bit, waiting for such drastic changes would be too much.
After selecting the mission, Jake and his party appeared in the middle of the desert. He lent the capes to the girls and equipped the new ones. While one of those could grant Heat Resistance, the other should help with the heat a little bit.
"You sure are prepared," Lana said after she equipped the Cape.
"I will let myself be hit by the Poison Bullets a few times, you don\'t have to heal me unless my health reaches the half," Jake said. "Even without being hit the damage overtime should help in leveling up the skill."
"The mission is to slay the scorpion king, right?" Louise asked. "I suppose all extra defense against poison will be welcome."
The first group of scorpions soon appeared and Jake noticed that their level increased by three and all their status went up by twenty percent. While that seemed a bit too much, Jake paid no mind to it. With a single Ice Arrow, Louise froze one after hitting its face and Jake swung his katana and easily killed the monster. When the second one approached, Jake used Bash with his shield and easily repelled the claws of the creatures. Jake used that chance to thrust his katana into the monster\'s face and then he confirmed that his strength was really enough to kill them with a critical strike.
The last enemy managed to land a hit, but Lana blocked the claws with Barrier. Once that was done, Jake swung down his sword. The monster blocked the attack with its claws, but Jake began to overpower the monster. Eventually, the katana cut the claws of the creature and eventually hit the face of the monster. Thanks to the pain the monster was suffering, Jake has the chance to strike again, and this time he finished the creature.
You obtained 07 coins.
"We really grew stronger in the last few days…" Jake muttered.
Before a single monster of that level couldn\'t be overwhelmed with a sword strike or Jake couldn\'t kill it with only two strikes. Still, Jake knew that their strength wasn\'t enough. Even when he had the power to defeat all monsters of the previous maps with a single strike, the bosses still caused a huge deal of trouble.
"If your speed were higher, you wouldn\'t give them the chance to block your attacks," Lana said.
"While you are right, with speed alone, I can\'t stop the charge of bosses," Jake said.
It was easier to imagine why a speed-type warrior wouldn\'t fit to be a front liner. The aggro would move to another player if the front liner keeps running around trying to avoid being damaged.
"Let\'s get going," Jake said. "While we need to grind some levels, we can\'t just enter the dungeon a few minutes away from the end of the mission."
The group turned to walk toward the sun while they were wearing some pieces of clothing to block the view, it still was pretty hard to walk in that direction. Looking down didn\'t help either since the sand reflected all the light. Despite that, they managed to win the fights thanks to Louise freezing some of the monsters. At the same time, the attacks of the monsters didn\'t cause more damage than Lana could heal.
The skill Poison Resistance has leveled up.
Just like Jake had predicted, the skill also worked while the poison was causing damage over time. Thanks to that, Jake wondered if that skill would level up faster if he let Louise hit him with her Poison Bullet. It seemed like something worth checking.
