Chapter 358 Dungeon Master
Your strength increased by ten points.
Your intelligence increased by ten points.
Your recovery increased by ten points.
…
No wonder the enemy wanted Jake\'s power so much… the more he used it, the more the power of the sins grew stronger. To think that Jake\'s parameters would increase that much… those who had good magic senses could also tell the speed of his growth and couldn\'t help but be astonished. It was hard to say, but at least their combined power would duplicate that growth speed, and then a real monster of absurd strength would be born... they couldn\'t let that happen. More than on universe already suffered in the hands of such a beast.
"Virgilius, are you noticing anything weird with me? Any changes?" Jake asked.
"No, only your parameters are increasing, and your body is adjusting to the extra power quite fast," Virgilius replied. "I suppose that is to be expected considering your true innate skill."
"... Just tell me if something out of the norm happens," Jake said.
Jake had yet to know why he and others had those sin skills. Hopefully, he will obtain the answers once he finishes that mission, and hopefully, nothing weird will happen before he can obtain those answers as well.
Frederick, Helena, and Milena\'s expressions were hard to describe since those powers once belonged to them… only Henela\'s dark flames could be identified, but they were quite sure that Jake was using the skills he obtained from the others as well, even when they couldn\'t see it. They had no idea that Jake only inherited the sin skills…
In any case, thanks to the dark flames, Jake finished off the armored giants in the blink of an eye, and he could feel the power inside him growing. He asked Virgilius about his diagnosis again, but he didn\'t find anything weird.
"Let\'s get going," Jake said when he saw the back line five hundred meters behind them.
"Your dark flames have gotten stronger… is your mind fine?" Lana asked.
"No worries, I have trained to endure this… although I didn\'t want to use it anymore," Jake said.
"If you are being considerate, you don\'t need to think about that kind of nonsense," Frederick said. "If that kind of power in your hands can save the lives of our guild members, then that won\'t bother us."
"As if I could care less about how you guys feel… but I will keep that in mind just in case," Jake said. "As far as I can tell, this is a cursed power, and I don\'t want to use it more than I have to."
"In that case, a weapon that can take a life is also a cursed weapon, but the same weapon can be used to protect as well," Virgilius said.
"It must be good to be so free of worries…" Jake said and then sighed. "Do this with your power, do that as well… you just need to say: come to the dark side of the force and then you will sound like a villain."
"Of all times to tell such nonsense…" Lana said and then sighed.
The group picked up the pace since they didn\'t find other enemies in many kilometers. The enemies probably had allocated some forces in the areas around their base, but they couldn\'t have enough people to cover such a large area.
While they were running, the backline managed to catch up with them, and while Jake didn\'t want to hear about that, his ears were too good, and ended up learning that from the five thousand that they had brought, around five hundred had already fallen…
Jake had nothing to do with them. The chances that those who had joined that battle were people that have betrayed or tried to kill him in the past life were quite high, after all. Still, while he didn\'t want to give his best for others, he wanted to give his best for himself, going all out and succeeding on that mission… he truly wanted to believe that he had cut ties with his past.
"I don\'t want to believe that I will change if I keep using these powers, but the chance is always there… even if the current me might not pursue something like rule over the others again, maybe something in the future will trigger that desire again," Jake thought. "I am done fighting for others, but… I don\'t want to find myself trying to get stronger to stand above others, either… that arrogance back then led me to my death."
It wasn\'t really the time to have some internal struggle, but Jake couldn\'t help it… he was someone who used his head on the battlefield in one way or the other and now such a characteristic was bothering him like that.
Fortunately, Jake didn\'t have to worry about that any longer. The only problem with that was the fact that he had to do something far more bothersome to keep his mind busy…
"Something is coming!" Louise shouted.
It was weird for Louise to raise her voice like that, but then everyone understood the reason why when something massive landed in front of them. The impact of the landing created a shockwave that pushed back Julian and Karina for several meters. Jake protected himself with his sword and then raised his guard… since he could tell that one formidable enemy had arrived…
"That is…" Virgilius said.
The creature was a ten meters tall monster that had red skin and massive bulging muscles. He looked so strong that steam was living through his body all the time. His eyes were completely white, but he had long, wavy black hair. He sure looked pissed while clenching his teeth… and since he had some chains in his arms, that thing gave the feeling of a wild animal that had just escaped from a cage.
"Be careful, commander," Virgilius said. "This creature has the aura of something that has devoured countless monsters, and he also has the aura of a dungeon master…"
