Chapter 218 - There’s A Homicide Here

Chapter 218: There’s A Homicide Here

Yun Xiangxiang felt relaxed like she had never before during her short getaway in the mountains. After a meal of authentic vegetarian dishes, they went back to the resort at the base. Song Mian had arranged an onsen for her.

“What about you?” Yun Xiangxiang recalled that the manager mentioning this onsen was reserved for Song Mian when they were brought in.

“I’ll go in after you are done,” Song Mian laughed quietly. “Does my girlfriend want to bathe with me?”

“Come in if you dare,” Yun Xiangxiang held a bucket of water at him. “Let’s see who’s going to be burnt in the end.”

Song Mian gazed deeply at Yun Xiangxiang. Ever since she knew he promised her father, the young lady started becoming fearless.

He made a note of this. Sooner or later she would have to pay them back.

Yun Xiangxiang smirked as she saw Song Mian leaving. There was a floating platform on the onsen. On it were some glasses.

Yun Xiangxiang was in the onsen only for half an hour before she got up. Song Mian took her to her room and let her rest.

She wanted to lounge around after being in the onsen. After drying her hair, she went to bed and slept.

Song Mian saw her sleeping soundly when he returned to the bedroom. Her face which was full of collagen made it look as smooth as peeled eggs.

After straightening himself, Song Mian gently lay beside Yun Xiangxiang and embraced her. Her fragrance swirled around him.

Song Mian had already gone away when Yun Xiangxiang woke up. If it were not for the traces on the blanket, Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t know Song Mian took advantage of her again. She slept too deeply after that onsen session, but woke up feeling energetic.

“The buffet is almost ready. Their buffet here is decent,” Song Mian reminded Yun Xiangxiang when he noticed her being awake.

Yun Xiangxiang immediately got out of bed, washed up, and dressed up. She even meticulously added the couple of moles on her face.

Not only were there a huge variety of dishes, there was also ice cream. Yun Xiangxiang wanted to have some. She looked quietly at Song Mian.

Song Mian couldn’t deny her puppy eyes. He scooped one scoop for her, “You can only have one of this.”

He then took many slices of cake, “But you can have more of this.”

Yun Xiangxiang accepted it grudgingly. There were a lot of customers at this time. Yun Xiangxiang and Song Mian chose a quiet spot to sit down.

“Will we stay here for the night or go home?” Yun Xiangxiang asked with a mouthful of food.

“We will go home. It’s just about an hour’s drive,” Song Mian wasn’t someone who liked to stay the night at hotels or unfamiliar places.

Yun Xiangxiang was fine with either way. She was already used to it, being in this industry. She could even sleep on a chair when she was busy, let alone a bed.

A commotion suddenly erupted as they were having dinner. A woman cried, “Call 120. Quick, call 120!”

Song Mian put down his chopsticks before standing up and going into the crowd, “I’m a doctor, let me take a look.”

The crowd made way for him when they heard the word “doctor.” Yun Xiangxiang followed Song Mian to the forefront of the crowd. What greeted them was a mother in her thirties crying helplessly while hugging a spasming child who was seven or eight.

There were already people calling 120 around them. Song Mian strode to the child. He bent down and checked the child’s pulse.

He then took a look at his papillae. Song Mian took out a thin, delicate box from his shirt pocket. When opened, rows of needles were revealed. He took out a silver needle and locked on to the child’s acupoints sharply. He didn’t hesitate when applying the needle on the child.

After a few needled, the child slowly stopped spasming. Song Mian checked the child’s pulse again, noticing the child’s raging pulse slowly becoming stable.

Song Mian only took out the needles when the child’s temperature recovered. “Did you child go through something earlier?”

The mother calmed down when she noticed her child’s condition had turned for the better. She shook her head. “I left him here and went to take some food for him. When I came back, he was already spasming there.”

Song Mian felt suspicious. He scanned through the place before locking on the spot the child fell. He walked over and looked where the child looked.

The sun hadn’t set completely yet. The branches were swaying with the night breeze. Nothing seemed to be off. He squatted a little, probably trying to get the child’s viewpoint. He kicked something.

Lowering his head, he found a mini telescope. Song Mian had an idea. He picked up the telescope and looked at the slope across him.

“Call the cops. There’s a homicide here,” he gravely told the person in charge who came running.

Everyone turned ashen. The mother asked about her son, “Doctor, is my child fine?”

“He’s fine. He convulsed because of shock. Take him to a hospital for checkup later and follow the doctor’s orders,” Song Mian was patient with his patients and their family.

Having said that, he took Yun Xiangxiang and left the restaurant. They exited the resort and went to the back of it.

Song Mian didn’t go closer after they could faintly smell the scent of blood. From Yun Xiangxiang’s angle, a black silhouette could be seen on the ground fifty meters away. She subconsciously grabbed Song Mian’s shirt.

She might be an actress and played in a lot of scenes involving homicides, but those were all fake. Any ordinary person would feel unsettled when they come across an actual homicide. Besides, it was obvious that it was a fresh murder.

The child must have seen how the murder went. He wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t.

The murderer might even be nearby. People who could kill were not your average Joe.

Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t see the deceased’s wounds with how far they were. But judging by how strong the scent of blood was, it must not be shallow.

Knowing that a murder happened, the cops came swiftly and cordoned off the place. The forensic department came soon after.

The person in charge asked about the whole incident. When he knew the homicide was found so swiftly thanks to a doctor who treated the convulsing child who was shocked from the things he saw through the telescope, he let them off after taking their testimonies.

“Let’s go home early, okay?” Song Mian could feel Yun Xiangxiang’s nervousness.

Yun Xiangxiang was no coward. But she was just an ordinary person when it came to this. She had never seen a murder before, nor had she been in many life-or-death situations. The assassination back in New York already scared her out of her wits. This time, she came across a homicide herself.

“I want to stay and see the end of this,” Yun Xiangxiang shook her head. This murder was found out too quickly. The murderer must not be far.

Just like what Yun Xiangxiang guessed, the murderer didn’t run too far. He also exposed himself because it was his first time committing homicide. There was only one path leading out the mountains. Anyone going out would be thoroughly checked, so he was quickly arrested.

Yun Xiangxiang breathed a sigh of relief when she knew the murderer was caught. It was barely nine o’clock, but Song Mian still decided to drive home.

On the next day, Yun Xiangxiang found out the murder happened because of money problems. The victim owed the murderer money.

The man killed because he lost his cool at the smug attitude of the victim who refused to pay him back.
