Chapter 404: Worthless grandeur
Chapter 404: Worthless grandeur
Shane didn’t expect that using a glider would prove to be so useful as he managed to infiltrate the entire Miac race’s most secured area within the shelter!
After he had been thrown into the air, he had taken out a mana-empowered glider that allowed him to turn into any desired direction as well as to increase his speed through wind mana transmuted runes that had been inscribed.
It was a meagre increment in speed, but more than enough to take everyone by surprise.
The guards stationed on the outer layers might have noticed him, but it was unlikely as he was always attacking in the dead of the night, making use of others’ bad sight.
This was no problem for him and the 1000 Conquerors of his due to the particular masks they were using.
When he had passed the structure that released the spatial distortion zone, Shane had circled around it for a moment, releasing several Molotov cocktails in addition to other grenades that destroyed it.
A moment later, Shane had already reached an acceptable height to store away the glider as he released a large amount of mana that had been transferred from the Hidden Paradise.
Landing right in front of the shelter hall he had aimed for, Shane could barely hear one of the guards scream a warning before the Invincible Scimitar had been unsheathed and pierced through the oblivious guard’s chest.
Only a moment later, Shane felt the other guards’ gazes on him while everyone within the Hidden Paradise released a kind of battle spirit he hadn’t felt before.
As such, he couldn’t help but open the portals to the Hidden Paradise as he released his bloodlust-killing intent to say,
“I’m sorry for the intrusion, but can you guys… please die?”
A moment later, the Conquerors led by Miriam emerged outside the Hidden Paradise, swarming in all directions in order to kill everyone who obstructed their path.
Meanwhile, Miriam had shot inside the shelter hall, with a large red wing sprouting out of her back, manifested out of flames that devoured everything in their surroundings.
Shane couldn’t move much while maintaining several portals connecting to the Hidden Paradise, and it was only after Umbra and Cosmo emerged that he closed them to start moving.
The Dimension portal was considered their prime target and taken care of as the highest priority to overwhelm those who had wanted to enter the shelter and prevent others from leaving to gather reinforcements.
Thus, there were several hundred Conquerors who swarmed towards the Dimension Portal like an angry horde of bees, killing even more guards who had been calmly resting in the barracks right next to the portal.
Even though Shane was deemed as the leader of the group, he couldn’t find the Shelter captain, let alone someone with a mana purity above [95%] inside the Miac race’s shelter.
This was unfortunate, but also not something he should have expected.
Everyone with a mana purity above [90%] could be considered as a race’s prodigy because their future would be bright.
It was already difficult for others to believe that Shane had been able to nurture a total of 1000 individuals and gather them inside his guild.
In the end, this was not the entire truth, and only those who had been poor, yet talented enough in terms of natural combat talent and other means had been nurtured by Shane.
This included around half of all the Conquerors, however, the other half had already been nurtured since their childhood, trained to become someone great, to make their families proud!
They belonged to influential families and were mostly sent to the Starlight guild to approach Miriam.
However, what nobody had expected was that almost everyone felt that their family’s support was less valuable than being a subordinate of Miriam, let alone Shane, whose combat prowess they had witnessed a long time ago.
There had been a few trainees who had witnessed Shane’s fight against Aisha, and then Frer, only to share it in their Starlight guild’s group chat excitedly.
Fortunately, they hadn’t released it on PrimWeb, or anywhere else before because Shane preferred staying lowkey.
Nevertheless, the recorded video had allowed everyone to realize that Shane was not only the faction leader in designation but also stronger than Miriam, who had been hailed as the most prodigious talent mankind had!
Other than the future investment, most young men and women had decided to make a beeline for Shane’s faction. What made working with him more exciting was that there were also rewards, gains, and everything else they could obtain by being a Starlight guild member.
Not only was the share they received extremely high, but the training they had received was extremely great and unlike anything they had seen so far, in addition, to access to better equipment, and techniques.
Even before they had begun to conquer the shelters, reaping profits in the tens or hundreds of millions, the Starlight guild had started to conquer several caves and other resourceful areas.
They had even been ordered to enter the Soul-Onyx-Jungle in small groups in order to protect the lumberjacks that had joined the Astral Artisans’ rows in order to take care of the Soul-onyx wood.
Other than that, the caves they had cleared of beasts had to be taken care of while the miners mined everything.
There were plenty of resourceful areas, and only the dangers had prevented most from entering them.
However, with elite units entering them in large batches, they were swiftly taken care of.
Thus, their own gains were hundreds of times better than what they had received from their parents, allowing them to become independent while earning huge sums.
If these young men and women were to know that their family had wanted them to turn independent and strive for more than getting a few hundred gold coins every descendant obtained as pocket money, they would feel deceived.
Fortunately, this was not the case and they were satisfied with what they had.
Their life had become exciting and it was more interesting than it had ever been before.
Even more so after they had begun to actively seek revenge on those that had caused the initial attack on the RadiantRing shelter.
They made the life of the culprits of the beast tide with four overlords which was followed by the constant attacks and destruction of more than 20 shelters during the last few months a living hell!
Taking over the Miac race’s shelter that was much more fortified than the RadiantRing shelter’s defenses when the beast-tide had almost destroyed it felt extremely satisfying.
Even Shane hadn’t expected that he could infiltrate the Miac race’s shelter core so easily because he had only seen the gigantic shelter walls that turned the shelter into a place similar to a fortress.
In the end, this had been nothing but worthless grandeur as the Miac race hadn’t been able to defend against his surprise attack that had been well planned and coordinated.
Aerial beast tides would have been useless against the Miac race’s shelter because Shane had seen thousands of ballistae and other long-range weapons.
Yet, hiding his existence just before he entered the shelter’s proximity to overwhelm everyone had been more than enough to take care of everything!
Shane was proud of himself because his ideas and unique traits had allowed him to achieve something difficult seemingly easily.
Others would never dare, let alone be able to infiltrate a shelter without anyone’s help, and there was no need to mention his ability to allow countless beings to emerge from within him!
He was one of a kind, and would utilize his advantages to the fullest as long as it was still possible!
