Chapter 177 - Shall We Leave As Well?
Chapter 177 - Shall We Leave As Well?
Yvonne St. Claire from the script, though she was the mastermind who thought up the petty schemes on the insistence of her friends, Princess Felicia and Glennise Brodie, also had an important role.
The role which they needed at most times, the role of the voice of reason in the group.
Now that she had managed to extricate herself from the plot that she had been embedded in, she wondered what might happen to these little girls.
As she was thinking of their future, she recalled her own future from the script.
The home confinement followed by her illness and death that was written in the script made her shake her head as well as those thoughts away from her mind.
\'They have to look out for themselves!\' She declared resolutely, shirking all responsibility from her shoulders.
Looking at the little girl who sat next to her from the corner of her eyes, Yvonne shot her a sympathetic glance.
\'They are your headache now, my dear Rika. Do well in your duties of trying to keep them off the path of becoming Villainesses and most certainly don\'t follow them down that dreadful path.\' She prayed and hoped that Rika might hear the petitions she made in her heart.
At that very moment, Rika Kiron turned and upon noticing her gaze, shot her a brilliant and radiant smile which spiked the guilt that Yvonne had in her heart.
She had managed to save herself from her future of being their best friend and co-conspirator but she had thrown this new person into the mix whose future did not have the things that she was experiencing right now.
\'Now that I think about it, I do not recall reading anything about a person called Rika Kiron in the script.\' She realized and once again blamed the incompetent scriptwriter for only focusing on the two lead characters and disregarding the others.
Yvonne decided that it was best for her to not think of this matter as she would only feel bad for the choices she had made which led to Rika becoming the playmate in her stead.
\'Vonny, she chose that life and requested you to not fight her for the position of a playmate.\' She recalled which gave her a sense of peace though it was false, it was nonetheless there.
Glennise was happy that she had managed to get the approval of girls who were of her age and then decided that it was time for them to leave.
However, before she left, she disclosed another piece of information for them to prove that she was the closest to the Princess.
"I will be sure to inform the Princess about the new cupcake so that she might get that as well for her celebration." She chirped as she rose from her seat.
Rika was quick to follow as she too rose from her seat and tidied her clothes.
"It was fun to meet you today, Miss Yvonne." Rika smiled as she bid farewell to her friend.
Yvonne nodded as she smiled back at the girl while the wheels in her brain were turning at a fast pace, trying to comprehend what the Duke\'s daughter had just mentioned.
Glennise directed her attention towards the child who remained silent the entire time and smiled at her as well.
"I shall ask Princess to send you an invite as well, Miss St. Claire so there is no need for that gloomy face." She uttered and graced her with a benevolent smile.
\'No thank you!\' Yvonne growled in her heart yet all she could do was display a helpless smile in return.
"That would be asking too much from a person I have just met, Miss Brodie. Though I would like to thank you for thinking about me." She gave her a polite rejection.
Though there was nothing wrong with what she had just said, Glennise felt an odd sensation in her heart, an ache that she could not explain.
\'Why did it hurt when she said that we have just met?\' She wondered as this was true.
The strained look on her face soon disappeared along with the ache she had felt, making her feel as though this entire incident was a figment of her imagination.
Not thinking too much about it, the two girls made their timely exit after speaking a few more words to Yvonne.
The little girl watched as the other two walked out of the store with the maids following after them.
As she turned around, she found that her mother came over to her table.
"We\'ve spent a lot of time outside today. Shall we leave as well?" Raylene inquired as she stood at the table without taking her seat.
She had expected her daughter to agree in an instant as she was aware of how reluctant the little girl had been earlier.
\'She never would have met her friends if we had left the commercial district early.\' Raylene smiled and thanked the gods for giving her Vonny this chance of mingling with the other girls of the high society.
However, contrary to her beliefs, Yvonne shook her head in disapproval of what her mother had offered.
"Take a seat, Mama." She gestured towards the chair that Glennise had sat upon.
Paula had been rearing to get back home and rest her weary legs which had been standing all day long but when she heard the little girl\'s words, the anger that flashed through her eyes was scalding hot.
The perceptive little girl had caught the changes that occurred on the maid\'s face, causing her to raise her brows.
\'I\'ll deal with this later on.\' She decided as she had better things to do at the moment.
Raylene did as her daughter had asked her to and looked at her with expectant and curious eyes, wondering what she had planned to do next.
"Call the server." Yvonne ordered the maid who stood to the side.
Though Paula was indignant about being told what to do by the little child, she didn\'t dare to express her displeasure when her Mistress gave her the glare which indicated that she did as Yvonne had told her to.
Paula nodded and bowed before calling the server over to their table.
The man who was preparing to close the store for the day as they had sold everything in the store and it was time for them to leave, came quickly when he heard that the daughter of the Earl had summoned him.
The baker soon followed as he desired to know what the little girl wanted from them.
Raylene sat in silence as she watched the two men stand before her daughter as she too was just as clueless as they were.
"Do you think that the new cupcake will sell better?" Yvonne inquired as she tilted her head.
The innocent appearance along with the naive question made the men smile as they nodded their heads.
"They would definitely sell." The baker was quick to answer in his excitement.
\'Gotcha!\' Yvonne smirked as she nodded back at them.
"I would like to meet the person responsible for this cafe." She announced and watched the expressions on their faces change in the next moment.
This change did not affect her decision as she remained silent while they shot a worried look at each other.
\'Is this Miss going to complain to the Master?\' They were both perplexed and terrified that they might lose their jobs.
Having taken in their worried faces, Yvonne decided to alleviate their troubles by speaking a few kind words.
"I would like to speak to the owner about how great his cafe is." She added with an innocent smile that soothed their troubled hearts.
Soon word was sent to the man in charge of the store and Yvonne along with her mother waited for the man to arrive.
