Chapter 770 - Sunshine And Roses
Chapter 770 - Sunshine And Roses
Marchioness Jorbin smiled at the girl before her who was younger than all of her children which only made her treat her more tenderly.
When her husband had revealed the rumors circulating in the Capital about this child, she could not believe what she was hearing.
Her disbelief did not stem from the fact that someone as young as her could achieve such tremendous feats, instead, it was due to the people who resided here.
After all, her impression of the people in Rosenhyde wasn\'t too high based on her past experiences with them.
Especially the women who did not think that they were worth much without the support of their husbands.
To hear that in such a place, a child like Yvonne had managed to make a name for herself was truly a shock to Marchioness Jorbin.
Thinking of her past, the lady recalled how excluding a handful of women, the rest were the ones who treated her as an outcast.
When her husband had first tried to pursue her, she had not accepted it right away.
She had heard about how women were treated in Rosenhyde which had made her reluctant to marry a man who might treat her in the same way.
However, her husband had waited patiently, proving to her that he would never disregard her opinions or her feelings just because she was a woman.
She had declared that if he felt that she did not have an equal status in the marriage they would be bound in, she did not wish to be a part of such a marriage.
In her kingdom, men and women were treated as equals and in no way was one meant to be beneath the other.
While it was true that men were better than women at certain tasks, in the same way, women were superior in quite a few of them as well.
Thus being brought up in a place where there was no such blatant favoritism practiced, she had her prejudice against the man who was pursuing her romantically.
It took the Marquess a long time to gain her trust and only then did she agree to marry him and later enter the Rosenhyde Kingdom with him.
Even the King had approved of their marriage but who would have thought that the people here would be so unwelcoming.
There were a few exceptions like Duchess Tanner and her close friend, Marchioness Kiron.
However, none of the other ladies even turned her way when they met her.
They either ignored her or ridiculed her, reminding her that she knew nothing of the traditions of their land.
For the most part, she had also ignored such actions but when it came to her children, she would not take any excuses.
They were born in Rosenhyde, to a father who was a member of this Kingdom which ascertained that they were just as much a part of this Kingdom as the others.
Therefore, she did not wish to see anyone treating them as they had done to her.
Her husband was often on trips to different Kingdoms as that was his job as the Minister of the King which left the Marchioness and her children alone in the Capital.
For their safety, the family had permanently relocated to their fief in the Southern part of the Kingdom and only ever returned when it was time for the social season.
However, a few years ago, their son had insisted that he wished to attend the Royal Academy like the rest of the noble boys.
Being the youngest of four, his wishes were always granted and he was allowed to attend the Academy while his mother and sisters continued to remain in their fief as always.
Just before the plague had begun, she had heard news that her sister-in-law had given birth so she, along with her husband, and children had gone to visit the newest member of their extended family.
After hearing the tragic news of the mysterious disease spreading rapidly, Marquess had expressed his intentions of returning to Rosenhyde and ensuring that the citizens in his fief were safe.
This plan, however, was canceled once he received a report from his trusted subordinate who promised to look after everything in his absence.
Knowing that his aide could be counted on, the Marquess left the fief in their capable hands.
They had returned to the Kingdom before the week of mourning and resided in the Jorbin fief where the Marquess was busy receiving reports about what had taken place in his absence.
Only after he was sure that things were getting back to normal in the Jorbin fief did they set out for the Capital.
It took a long time for them to make this journey with the children and thus had only arrived at Amarthea late last night.
When Marchioness Kiron heard about their return to the Capital, she sent them an invitation to her party which they accepted willingly.
Thus, most of the ladies here had not known of their return to the Capital and seemed to be shocked and displeased upon seeing them here.
Marchioness Jorbin did not mind their opinions since they did not care about her.
However, she sighed while glancing at this child who would also be ostracized soon enough if she continued to walk the same path.
The lady was impressed and admired Yvonne\'s mind but that same mind would lead her on a path that would not be all sunshine and roses.
If Yvonne had known the thoughts in the Marchioness\'s mind, she would have chuckled as she was already well aware of the thorns present in her path.
"Miss, I wish you success." The foreigner lady smiled at the child who was looking up at her.
\'Success in your endeavors and success against those who try to block your path.\' She elaborated her blessing in her heart.
Yvonne did not realize the meaning hidden in those words and nodded without thinking too much about it.
Marchioness Kiron had brought the Madam of the Jorbin family to greet the Duchess and thus she witnessed this beautiful scene taking place before her.
\'I wonder why the other ladies do not see the charm in Lady Jorbin.\' She grumbled inwardly, blaming them for being the reason this friend of hers did not like staying in the Capital anymore.
Yvonne had only used greeting Duchess Tanner as an excuse to sneak away from the group of children.
Therefore, now that she had completed this task, she was free to roam around as she pleased.
She glanced around to see what the others were doing and thus found her parents and the Valente couple conversing with Earl Mikren who had also arrived sometime when she had not noticed.
There was also Marquess Samed who was having a hearty conversation with some ladies and by the looks of it, their discussion was animated and filled with laughter.
\'What gossip is he extracting from them?\' She wondered as this was the only thought that had popped into her mind.
Her tutor\'s eyes twinkled only when he was in the presence of something juicy which implied that there would be gossip for her to hear later on as well.
Continuing her scan of the garden, she also found the Valente twins with Jacob but there was someone else in the group whom she had never seen before.
"That is the second son of Marquess Kiron," Taylor whispered close to her ear after noticing her curiosity.
He had been following her gaze for a while now which made it easy for him to infer that she was interested to know who this new face was.
Thus he did not wait for her to ask but took the initiative to disclose this information before her.
\'Timothy Kiron, the one looking after the fief in place of his father and his elder brother.\' She nodded in acceptance of what she had heard.
If some other girl had been in Yvonne\'s place then their ears would have turned beet red at the close distance between her and Taylor.
Even Duchess Tanner was glaring at her son for his rude actions but the child did not mind as her thoughts had not even gone towards how close Taylor had gotten to whisper in her ear.
Her mind, however, was focusing on what she knew about the new young man she had just seen.
All three sons of the Marquess were prodigies in their own right.
The eldest son was the youngest professor to ever teach at the Royal Academy and the second was an upcoming star in the business sector.
Even though the eldest son was the heir of the family, it was the second son, Timothy who was looking after the fief in the place of his busy father and brother.
Finally, everyone knew the genius Jacob for his intellectual mind which brought him both admirers and haters.
\'Looks like the heir is not here.\' She surmised after finding no more new faces in this garden which implied that only Timothy was here for his mother\'s tea party.
However, it was understandable as the eldest son was a professor who must be preparing for the new academic year that would begin in no time.
Yvonne and Taylor had no reason to go and meet this person as they did not have any intersection in their daily lives.
Thus they decided to wander around for a little while before heading back to the group they had left earlier.
The adults who were around had been keeping an eye on their surroundings which allowed them to observe the close relationship between these two children.
\'Is the Duchess trying to form an alliance with the St. Claire family?\' Some thought after noticing how well Duchess Tanner treated Yvonne St.. Claire, wondering if they would hear the news of a secret betrothal any time soon.
