Chapter 59 - Disappeared!
She went to bed and sat down.
She even failed to ask him if he is Luke or not! He just leaves her like that. Her knees went weaker, unable to come after him, her tongue failed to call his name to prevent him from leaving because she was already overwhelmed with sadness and pain due to the way he discarded her as if everything that they shared in the past doesn\'t mean anything to him at all.
She lay her body down and closed her eyes. She reached for the pillow and hugged it tightly.
She refused to believe that Luke discarded her just like that!
There must be a reason behind it. She needs to know why! Now that it comes to this, she might as well go back to his house and see him again, and demand to talk with him to clear things between them.
She rose from the bed and went to the bathroom to splash water on her face.
A few minutes later.
She exited the bathroom with a renewed strength and purpose, she must know the truth about Luke and Graven tonight! She won\'t sleep until she will get the answer to all the questions that have been bothering her mind!
She went to the door and opened it... she saw her father outside the door. "Father..."
"Laura...I\'m going home tomorrow morning. Let\'s talk for a few minutes," Simon said.
She opened the door wide, allowing her father to enter her room.
Simon settled himself on the chair nearby. He placed a bundle filled with money on the table. "Here\'s some money for you to use while I\'m away. I will try to visit here when I\'m not busy with the family business," he said. He watched his daughter\'s face closely and noticed that she seemed to be crying, her eyes were red. "What\'s wrong - daughter? Are you crying?" he asked worriedly.
Laura nodded her head. "Yes, I\'m crying because you\'re going home and I\'m alone here. I missed mother Rosa and sister Sofia already," she replied, wearing a gloomy expression on her face.
Simon sighed. "You must learn to live like this - away from your family. You\'re getting married. We already talk about it in the past. You are now on your own here the moment I will leave this place. As long you behave and won\'t give Nicholas and Cooper any problem...then everything will be alright. Behave properly at all times. You are now living in other people\'s homes, so try to get along well with all the people here. Do you understand, Laura?"
Laura nods her head. "Yes, I understand, Father!" she responded.
"Good! Anything else you want to discuss with me? You better say it now, we will have no more time to talk tomorrow after breakfast," he said.
Laura shook her head. "Nothing, Father," she replied. "Do you need help with packing your things? I\'ll help you," she offered.
"No, need, I\'m already done packing my things. I\'ll take my leave now, rest early!" he said and rose to his feet. Simon walked towards the door and exited.
Her father is gone.
Time to go!
Laura took a deep breath and went to the door. She exited the door and strolled in the hallway. She descended the stairs but was surprised to see Cooper still awake, sitting on the couch in the living room. Huh? Why he\'s still awake?
She halted on her tracks, hesitating to continue...
Cooper sensed her presence and raised his head, he looked at her. "My darling wife...you can\'t sleep too? Come down here, let\'s talk for a while and entertain each other..." he suggested.
Laura sighed. She was about to go back to her room but she remembered her father\'s statement earlier, to get along well with everyone in this house especially with her husband. She reluctantly went down and walked towards Cooper. She sat on the opposite couch, facing him, keeping a safe distance between them.
Cooper raised his brow. "Why you are keeping your distance from me? Do I have an infectious disease? That\'s why you don\'t want to sit beside me?" he asked, pretending that he was hurt by her coldness.
Laura rolled her eyes. She stood up and sit beside him on the couch. "Happy?" she asked him.
Cooper grinned. "Of course!" he replied cheerfully and draped his arms around Laura\'s shoulder. He lowered his mouth about to kiss her on the lips.
But Laura avoided his advances and stood up abruptly, she returned to the couch opposite him. "No touching and no kissing until we got married!" she reminded him.
Cooper groaned in dismay, hating Laura\'s conservative principle. He finds it annoying! The women in the brothel are always accommodating to his needs. They would latch to him like piranhas. Why can\'t Laura be the same?
He looked at her. "My darling wife, why are you playing hard to get? We\'re getting married soon! No need to starve ourselves from pleasuring each other," he told her.
Laura breathed deeply. Cooper is acting up again! How can she go to the backyard now and talk to Graven if Cooper is giving her a hard time?
She studied his face for a few minutes. "When are you going to sleep?" she asked.
"Why are you asking? Are you going somewhere?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
She yawned, pretending that she\'s feeling sleepy. She rose to her feet. "I\'m going to sleep now. Good night!" she said and walked towards the stairs.
Cooper watched her climbed the stairs. He was infuriated that she just left him like that! How dare she! But it\'s too late now to call her and made her return to the couch, she already reached the top of the stairs and disappeared in the hallway.
He gritted his teeth furiously and left the living room - going upstairs to his room.
Five hours later. The mansion was completely submerged in silence, the inhabitants were already sleeping.
Laura appeared at the top of the stairs, wearing a black hooded cape concealing her appearance, she looked down at the living room. Cooper was nowhere to be found! Finally!
She ascended the stairs in a hurry almost flying, wanting to reach Graven\'s house in a second.
She managed to enter the kitchen and exited without waking anyone up. She hastily walked towards the path leading to Graven\'s house. She was already a few meters away from the house when suddenly a shadow hiding behind the tree followed her from behind.
Laura was alerted by the shadow\'s presence due to the hair rising at her nape. She spun around, facing the one who followed her, she bumped into a solid chest and when she tries to find who it was, she was greeted with a hooded cloak guy. It\'s impossible to see his face...then suddenly...he waved his hand over her face...slowly her eyelids fluttered down. She was put into a state of slumber.
The mysterious guy carried Laura in his arms and they rose in the air.
They disappeared into the sky.
