Chapter 165 - Prepared

After hearing that, Drannor and Ameria nodded in silence. It was the first time that they saw Zaos really angry. He was very patient, so even when he was angry, he knew how to keep himself confused, but now that they saw him mad, they knew that they shouldn\'t exaggerate.

"I didn\'t think magic could be use like that," Ameria said. "I heard that exists spells that enhances someone\'s body, but…"

"If you train really hard, you might be able to do something like that as well," Zaos said.

After that, Zaos sat down and began his research. After a while, he noticed Drannor looking at him with eyes full of expectation. It seemed that he didn\'t think that Zaos had been serious the previous day… it seemed he was going too easy on him in many aspects.

"Do you think I was joking yesterday?" Zaos asked.

"Come on, Zaos," Drannor said. "That is not fair."

"I couldn\'t care less about what you consider fair," Zaos said.

In the end, Drannor only managed to learn one spell from Zaos, and he will have to keep training that until Zaos\'s anger passes. Although it was a boring training, Drannor heard him talking countless times that it was necessary to cast the spells fast enough or they would be useless in the middle of a battle.

"Come to think, Zaos, you never mentioned to us before, but what exactly you are researching?" Ameria asked.

"Mind your own business," Zaos said.

A vein in Ameria\'s forehead began to throb. No one had ever talked with her like that, but she understood that the last days made Zaos quite mad, so she had to be patient as well. Regardless, at that rate, Zaos figured that he would have understood the \'meaning\' behind the symbols of all symbols related to healing magic in one month\'s time. Although he wasn\'t that confident because it was an ancient language, and he was using recent words of the current world language to compare it. Even better, Zaos was pretty close to deciphering all the most basic healing spell symbols, so that was a significant breakthrough. Once he does that, he will see if translated to today\'s language, the words used in the spell make some sort of sense.

The next few days passed really fast, and then on the day Zaos he would finally be able to read the first spell… he was forced to stop because it was the day of the trip. He had planned to do his research during the day as well, but Lyra forbids him from taking his notes.

"I still don\'t feel like you should take your armor and sword with you," Lyra frowned.

"His Majesty said that he would feel less worried knowing that me and that idiot would be nearby to protect her if something happens," Zaos said. "I can\'t do that unarmed, mom."

"Your hard worker attitude is so cute, but so troublesome sometimes…" Lyra said and then sighed. "Anyway, try to have some fun."

"I doubt that I will," Zaos said.

The trip to the lake would take two hours if they used some carriages, so when Zaos left his home, the sun was still rising. When he arrived at the castle gate, though, Ameria and her carriage were already waiting for him, ready to go. That was weird since Ameria didn\'t look like a morning person.

"Good morning," Ameria said with a large smile on her face.

"You seem to be in a good mood… you didn\'t sleep, did you?" Zaos asked.

"No, I rarely have the chance to leave the capital and this is the first time that I can leave with my friends alone," Ameria said.

"Hey… sorry… I am late," Drannor appeared while rubbing his eyes.

Drannor also looked now like someone who wasn\'t a morning person. That was weird, considering that most soldiers have to wake up before even the sun begins to rise.

"Well, let\'s get going in order to enjoy the whole day," Ameria said and then entered the carriage.

Drannor also entered the carriage while Zaos was going to drive it. In order to keep Ameria\'s presence nearby in secret, the people who will see the carriage couldn\'t see one of the royal guards. Although Zaos was pretty famous, he was using a helmet that covered a good part of his face.

"You really brought all your equipment, huh," Drannor said.

"Remember, I might trip on some pebble," Zaos said. "So, don\'t blame me for the result of accidents."

"Yeah, right, right," Drannor said. "Anyway, most of the others are waiting for us in the nobles\' district on the East side of the capital.

Zaos began to drive the carriage because the sooner he starts, the sooner that crap day will end. After a couple of minutes, they found several carriages waiting for them in the place mentioned by Drannor. Even better, it seemed that all the brainless friends of Drannor were already there.

"Wow, Drannor," A random boy said. "You still brought a guard… one that has a huge ass sword at that."

"Don\'t you recognize that sword?" Drannor asked.

"Now that you mentioned… geh… is that…" The boy panicked when he looked at the guard and recognized those cold green eyes.

"Yep, that is Zaos," Drannor smiled. "He isn\'t a morning person, so don\'t bother him too much."

"I knew you would invite him, but I figured someone like him wouldn\'t come…" The boy whispered.

"His Majesty said that Ameria could only come if he and I stayed nearby to protect Ameria," Drannor said. "After much insistence, we ended up convincing him. But as you can see… he is fully prepared to split anyone in half."

Zaos didn\'t have heard of that, but it seemed the squad leaders that worked in the other kingdom borders had also joined for the trip. Those who didn\'t know Zaos, but heard about him, ended up approaching to see his sword and couldn\'t help but flinch… the sword was taller than most of them and at least weighed over forty pounds. That wasn\'t something any of them could wield properly…
