Chapter 183 - Letter

Once they were done moving all the luggage, the horses, and even the carriages to the ship, the trip started. It was kind of amazing that they had so much space to store all that.

At the beginning of the trip, the guards, the maids, Drannor, and Ameria looked pretty excited, but after half an hour, the excitement of half of them disappeared. They got seasick, even though the ship wasn\'t moving all that much. Drannor and Ameria were pretty energetic kids, but even they couldn\'t win against seasickness. They threw up their lunch and breakfast, and then they entered the cabins to rest. Along with everyone else who wasn\'t feeling good.

"I guess the possibility of her marrying someone of Vezar dropped quite a lot now," Zaos said.

"Well…" Erean said, trying really hard not to laugh since that would be rude. "Most people get used to the movements of the ship after a while. So, there is still a small chance. By the way, I heard that you are a fairly good mage, don\'t you know any spell that might help them?"

"Perhaps I can alleviate their dizziness and headache, but that seems too much of a hassle," Zaos said. "Besides, based on what you say, they can get used to the motion sooner or later, they won\'t get it if I help them with magic."

"There are still the effects of losing their food that we have to worry about," Erean said. "The princess might get sick and that would be disastrous before the party."

In the end, Erean was right… The trip on the ship will last for two weeks, and if Ameria and the others spent losing their meals for a few days… things might get really messy. In the end, Zaos headed to the cabins and healed the people there. It turns out that getting rid of the headache and dizziness was more than enough to solve the problem and make everyone feel hungry again.

"I felt like I was going to die…" Ameria said and then sighed in relief.

"Me too… not even some fights were that bothersome," Drannor said.

"You should ask the captain if sea sickness is deadly," Zaos said.

Those two were so naive that they ended up going and asking as if that was a real question. Naturally, Distri thought that was a joke, and he and his men that were nearby laughed like never before. Drannor felt pretty embarrassed, but Ameria got angry… angry at Zaos.

"Don\'t look at me like that," Zaos said. "It is your fault for not studying enough about things outside the capital."

Zaos looked serious, but Ameria was almost sure that he was bullshitting her. Regardless, Zaos looked more relaxed now, so the trip was more pleasant than before. Although Zaos didn\'t try to study or research that day, it wasn\'t because he was so relaxed that he forgot it. It was because he wanted to know how things were supposed to happen on a ship. Once he gets used to it, he will resume his research.

In any case, Ameria forgave Zaos because, after a couple of hours, the effects of sea sickness returned, and she had to be helped by him, just like all the others. It seems that he will have a lot of work while they stay on the ship…

The next morning, Zaos woke up a bit earlier than the others and talked with the ship\'s captain about how safe the route was. Much to Zaos\'s surprise, he had been sincere enough to tell him that now and then, some pirates were attacking merchant ships. Still, he didn\'t have to worry because the pirates usually only attacked ships that were carrying very expensive goods. Since they were only transporting people, they wouldn\'t be targeted. That was weird, though… anyone with half of a brain could try to capture Ameria and then ask for a huge sum of random.

"Our men are also pretty good fighters, so you don\'t have to worry," Distri said. "I am sure we can even take two pirate ships at same time if the necessity arises."

"All right then," Zaos said.

Zaos felt more like saying: if you say so. But he stopped since that would be pretty rude. Before Zaos returned to where he left his things and resumed his research, he took his time to watch the ocean alone. Aside from the crewmen and the captain, who was already up early in the morning since they lived more time on that ship than on their real homes, everyone still was sleeping. It was a good time to do some thinking by himself without worrying about someone bothering him.

"The time travelling alone will be almost two months, the party must last more than a single day since they went their way to visit Ameria, so it will take more than two months to return," Zaos said to himself. "There is also the issue of resting, since spending two months travelling like this is tough even for trained soldiers. So, there is always the chance that we stay there as guests for a week or two…"

In the best-case scenario, Zaos would have to stay for two months a half away from home. Two weeks had already passed, so he probably will be at home in two months or so… it wasn\'t enough time for his mother\'s health to suddenly deteriorate, but Zaos couldn\'t slack off either. He had to make good use of his time…

"Maybe I should write some letters as well… since we will probably stay there for a few weeks," Zaos said to himself. "That way, mom won\'t feel worried sick while waiting for me."

It has been a while since Zaos wrote some letters. He writes now and then to Tyra, but they mostly talk about simple things about how her business is going and how life is in the capital. Nothing too complicated… Regardless, Zaos already knew how he should start his letter. He already did that before.

"I am doing fine, mom."
