Chapter 301 - Big Mouth

Luvon didn\'t share the same enthusiasm in getting a new ally. Still, he could understand where Camus was coming from. Suppose they brainwashed a warrior like that with the most famous followers of the demon god. In that case, he will become their tool and won\'t lose a single one of his abilities. However, before that, they had to capture him. That would be tricky, but it was impossible for Camus. He was also a genius fighter, after all.

In the end, it didn\'t take long for Zaos to pass their last line of defense. The heavy cavalry was troublesome, but they lost their effectiveness once Zaos put the fear in their hearts. However, as soon as Zaos found Camus, he also saw the other commander bringing out another unit to join the Frey in the distance.

"Don\'t worry about them. Luvon is just going to make sure that we will be able to fight without interruptions," Camus said. "My name is Camus. It is finally nice to meet you, Zaos Sielders."

Zaos frowned. That guy in front of him was too calm, considering that he was on such a battlefield where thousands of people lost their lives in a couple of hours. Either he was crazy, or he was really used to that kind of thing. Not to mention, Zaos could tell that he was strong despite having a body that wasn\'t a pile of muscles. Zaos had to be careful against that kind of enemy without his magic since he had an aura similar to Drannor.

"What do you want?" Zaos assumed his tail guard since Camus was armed only with a short sword, and he was planning to split the weapon and him in a single strike.

"I want you to join my army, so I am going to give you two options," Camus said. "You either join me now without having to suffer, or you join me later after I beat you senseless. You can move forward since my soldiers are going to fight yours. If you agree to duel with me, my men will follow you since they follow the strong, so you can have many soldiers and even stop this battle by yourself. What do you say about it?"

"I don\'t want to be the leader of a bunch of slavers," Zaos said. "Besides, you can\'t call soldiers when they kill civilians. You are just the commander of a high number of low lives."

"I guess we can say that, so do you agree with the duel?"

That seemed a bit too fishy. But Zaos assumed it wasn\'t a trap since Camis wasn\'t on his horse anymore. Besides, there were no guards around him. The other commander was bringing others, but Zaos was confident that he could finish things quickly if they decided to attack his back.

"Sure, why not?" Zaos said and then dashed toward Camus.

Zaos wanted to finish that quickly, but even before he could start his swing, Camus moved backward smoothly like he was the wind. Weirdly enough, he moved but then stopped and let Zaos\'s sword pass a few centimeters away from him. He had the perfect chance to attack, but he didn\'t. As if that wasn\'t annoying enough, he did all that with a smile on his face.

"You sure are fast considering that you swing a sword like that," Camus said. "Let me ask you one thing, does a big sword like that make you feel more powerful?"

Zaos ignored it and then swung his sword again after taking a step forward, but Camus did the same and escaped by a hair\'s length. Although he was annoying, Camus had the skills to back his words, not to mention, he had steel nerves since he used just the bare minimum movement to escape each attack.

"Thank goodness you are out of magic, otherwise dodging those strikes would be a pain in the ass," Camus said. "I tried to analyze your magic skills, but you never let me see clearly, and my soldiers couldn\'t explain it appropriately."

"You talk too much," Zaos said and then assumed the ox guard.

His attacks wouldn\'t cause as much damage as before, but that was a problem Zaos had to accept since his big swings were just cutting the air. Once he assumed that stance, Camus bet his knees slightly because he could tell that Zaos was aiming for something else. Zaos began to run toward him while trying to stab with the tip of his sword, but in the end, Camus was faster on his feet and moved backward even faster than Zaos could advance. Not to mention, he also slightly jumped to the sides when the sword almost touched his head to dodge any and all damage.

That was bad, Zaos was trying hard to finish things quickly, but that only made the poison drain his stamina faster. Zaos stopped to catch his breath and think of a new strategy, but Camus knew where to hit.

"Are you sure you can afford to take your time?" Camus asked. "Your soldiers are struggling behind you."

Zaos clicked his tongue. He could tell that, but just getting angry and hurrying up won\'t help at all. Zaos took a deep breath to calm down and think how come Camus could dodge his attacks and be faster even while moving backward since that was supposed to be impossible.

Just thinking didn\'t let Zaos realize anything, so he suddenly attacked with the sole purpose of watching Camus\' movements, and apparently, he did the right thing. The very moment the muscles in his legs tensed, Camus did something similar, and when Zaos dashed, he moved toward the opposite direction. It wasn\'t like he was mirroring his movements. He was just reacting to them extremely quickly. Camus had the reflexes of a wild beast…

To test his theory, Zaos changed his stance, and he also saw the upper ward from the enemy changing as well. Sometimes his guard was a bit tall, sometimes it wasn\'t… Apparently, Camus\' entire fighting style relied on how the enemy fights. That was really troublesome in many more ways than Zaos could think of.
