Chapter 142: The Beast Tide [7]
She dashed around the battlefield, evading the gorilla\'s massive fists with the agility of a gust of wind.
Ming Yuelin, not to be outdone, drew another flaming arrow and aimed it at the gorilla\'s eyes. "Looks like someone knows what they\'re doing."
The gorilla, enraged by the wounds inflicted by Jin Wei, raised both of its arms high, ready to crush the entire area beneath its fists.
But Jin Wei remained unfazed, channeling her wind element once again, she launched herself into the air, her body twisting gracefully as she prepared her final strike.
Her sword glowed brightly, surrounded by swirling currents of wind, and she plunged down.
*SWIIISH* Her blade cut through the air, leaving a trail of shimmering white energy in its path.
With a single, devastating slash, she brought the full force of her wind and sword mastery down upon the gorilla\'s skull.
*crack* The sound of splitting bone echoed as Jin Wei\'s sword cleaved through the gorilla\'s head, splitting it cleanly in half.
"ARGHHH!!" The massive beast let out one final, guttural roar before collapsing to the ground with a thunderous crash, its body shaking the earth one last time.
Jin Wei landed lightly on the ground, her silver hair still flowing in the wind as she calmly sheathed her sword.
The massive gorilla lay dead at her feet, its white fur stained with blood.
She turned around to look at the graceful eyes of the cultivators and guards, while some of them bowed to her.
Taking a soft breath, she muttered "Don\'t stop... the battle is not over yet."
Everyone nodded their heads and again plunged into action, killing the remaining beasts.
The battlefield was already a chaotic mess, the clash of steel ringing in the air, and the cries of beasts and warriors alike filling the night.
They could feel the onslaught of the beasts decreasing bit by bit and they realized that the beast tide was about to end.
With that sudden enthusiasm of joy, they quickly began to dispatch those beasts.
*gasp* Jin Wei stopped and hurriedly turned around as a mutter escaped her lips "It is coming..."
"SSSSSSSCCCREEEECHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"
The screech was unlike anything they had ever heard before, a high-pitched wail that seemed to pierce through their very souls.
A cold shiver ran down the spines of everyone on the battlefield, and the once fierce warriors found themselves rooted in place, paralyzed by the sound.
Huh?
What the fuck?
Jin Wei\'s breath caught in her throat, her heart skipping a beat and she slowly raised her head, along with the others, to look in the direction of the horrifying sound.
High above them, silhouetted against the morning sky, a massive creature flew down.
Its three heads were like those of herons, each one craning forward, mouths agape as purple flames spilled from their sharp beaks.
*flap* *flap* Its wings stretched wide, casting a terrifying shadow over the battlefield as it flapped, each gust of wind from its wings sending debris flying and rattling the trees.
The creature\'s aura was overwhelming, a suffocating force that pressed down on everyone like an invisible weight.
The ground seemed to tremble beneath its presence, and the pressure was so intense it felt like gravity had doubled, forcing them all to their knees.
However, amidst this, Jin Wei was the only one who was standing against this pressure while even some Sect masters were down.
This is a small city, so there aren\'t many powerful sects here.
"GUAARGH!" The three-headed heron let out another blood-curdling screech, and each head swayed, observing the battlefield below with cold, lifeless eyes.
*WOOSSHHH* Then, without warning, its middle head coughed out a burst of those strange, eerie purple flames.
Jin Wei was taken aback and raised her left hand, as green energy swirled around her body and a massive green transparent wall appeared in front of her.
"Wind barrier..."
*wooosssh* The flames exploded upon impact with the barrier, creating a shockwave that sent debris flying everywhere.
"Uhhh.." Ming yuelin struggled to raise her head and look at the big ass beast which was standing before them.
"Where is Master... he is not here during times like this...?"
Xue Hua stayed calm as she knows that her master won\'t let them die but she is quite confused as he has not made a move yet.
\'There must be a reason... if not, he would have already come here to help us.\'
Zhang Yuan who was floating in the air, smiled gently looking at jin Wei fighting against the three headed heron.
"It is not the time yet..."
...
Jin Wei\'s gaze trembled as she maintained the barrier, if not all the people behind her would be crumbled to ashes by its flames.
\'I am in the 8th level of the Venerate Profound stage and this beast is in the 9th level... and we have this much power gap between us?\'
A little later, the beast stopped fuming flames and using the momentum... Jin Wei leaped into the air like a blur as she charged toward the creature with a powerful swing.
As her sword reached near its neck, the heron raised its wing, blocking the attack and her blade sliced its feathers drawing a screech of pain from one of its heads.
"RRAARGH!" The beast retaliated, its talons swiping toward her with blinding speed, but Jin Wei was faster.
With a swift backflip, she avoided the blow, landing gracefully on the ground before launching herself forward again.
The heron flapped its wings, trying to gain distance from her relentless onslaught, but Jin Wei was dashed quicker towards it.
Her wind-enhanced movements allowed her to dodge around the beast, striking at its vulnerable spots with precision.
"WAARGH!" The three-headed heron roared in frustration, spewing purple flames from all three heads at once, creating a fiery inferno.
Jin Wei narrowed her eyes and raised her sword high above her head.
With a mighty swing, she unleashed a slicing wind that tore through the flames, parting them as if they were nothing more than a gentle breeze.
