Chapter 143: The Beast Tide [8]
"It is not as tough as it looks..."
*crash* One of the heron\'s heads lunged forward, aiming to bite her in half, but Jin Wei twisted mid-air, narrowly avoiding its jagged beak.
*flick* Her sword flashed in the sunlight as she slashed at its flank, blood bursting out of its body.
"GRAARGHH!!!" The beast screeched in pain, its other two heads twisting to face her, purple flames spewing from their mouths.
*woosh* Jin Wei raised her sword and spun, conjuring a whirlwind to shield herself.
*thoom* The flames crashed into the swirling wind, dissipating into harmless embers, but the force of the heron\'s attack sent her skidding back, her feet digging into the ground to regain balance.
"Quite strong..." she muttered under her breath, feeling the sting of exhaustion creep into her muscles.
*woosh* *woosh* The beast was relentless, and its three heads moved in perfect coordination, making it difficult for her to find an opening.
"KRREECKK!" With a roar, the heron swung its massive talons at her, ripping through the air with terrifying speed.
*woosh* Jin Wei barely managed to dodge, the sharp claws grazing her arm, its sharp nails tearing her skin as blood burst out from her arm.
"Urghhh!!" She winced in pain but didn\'t falter, knowing that one misstep could mean her death.
Bringing out all of her strength, Jin Wei dashed forward again, this time aiming for one of the heron\'s wings.
If she could cripple its flight, she\'d stand a better chance.
Her sword glowed with the power of wind as she slashed, but just as her blade was about to connect, the heron\'s tail whipped around with brutal force, catching her off guard.
"Wha-"
*Wham*
"MASTER!!"
The impact sent Jin Wei flying, her body crashing into the ground with a thud.
"ARGH!" Pain shot through her abdomen as she coughed, blood dripping from her lips.
She quickly stood up, her vision swimming from the force of the blow.
"I should not get another hit... its offensive power is great... just a level above and this dangerous?"
The heron, sensing its advantage, screeched in victory, its three heads rearing back as it prepared to finish her off with another wave of purple flames.
With a shaky breath, she flowed the last of her wind elemental powers, and she was quite torn off after some hours of fighting.
Her vision blurred, but she held onto her sword with fierce determination "If I fall here... my disciple and others will die."
Just as the flames erupted from the heron\'s mouth, Jin Wei charged forward, her blade cutting through the air with a swift slash.
*slash*
Her sword connected with the beast\'s middle head, slicing through its neck in a spray of blood.
"GRAAARGHH!!" The heron screeched in agony, its remaining heads thrashing wildly as it stumbled back.
However, before she could pull away, one of the heron\'s talons swiped at her with crushing force.
*crack*
Jin Wei\'s body was hurled across the battlefield, crashing into a boulder, her sword slipping away from her hand. *thoom*
"Argh!" She gasped in pain, her chest heaving as blood soaked her clothes leaving deep internal wounds and her vision darkened at the edges as the strength drained from her body.
"Urgh!" She coughed, more blood spilling from her lips as she clutched her torso.
The heron staggered, one head limp and lifeless, but the other two were still thrashing, though weakened.
Jin Wei tried to rise again, but her legs gave out beneath her and she fell to her knees, panting, her body trembling with fatigue.
I c-can\'t...
Seeing Jin Wei getting thrashed like that, everyone on the battlefield lost hope, and their faces turned pale.
Chen Zin glanced over at her master, and tears moistened her face as she hurriedly stood up rushing over to her "Master..."
Jin Wei slowly stood up and brushed the blood from her lips, her eyes focused on the beast in front of her, which was still recovering from the pain of losing its head.
"Master.." Chen Zin quickly reached out and helped her to stand up properly.
"W-We should quickly leave and treat your injuries."
Jin Wei, however, shook her head "No, Zin\'er... wait.. urghh... if we leave, everyone here will die."
"I will take a healing pill and..."
Chen Zin gritted her teeth "I don\'t care about them... I only care about you, Master. let\'s fly away from here."
"Hm? That\'s it? Honestly.. I expected much from you..."
However, at this time, a voice cut through the battlefield and Jin Wei quickly turned her head to look at the back of the man, his white hair floating in the gentle breeze.
Not only her, but everyone noticed the man who suddenly came there.
Seeing him, Ming Yuelin\'s eyes lit up "Master, you are here."
Hm? Zhang Yuan turned to look at Ming Yuelin and smiled gently "Good work till now, let me take it from now on."
Ming Yuelin pouted her lips and crossed her arms "But you are late..."
With a soft chuckle, he extended his hand and Jin Wei\'s sword which was on the floor, dashed towards him as he gripped the green hilt of the sword.
Xue Hua smiled faintly looking at Zhang Yuan and stood up.
Zhang Yuan glanced at the smaller beasts around him and flicked his wrist as the remaining small beasts were burned to ashes.
Wha- The people who were watching this were dumbfounded, and their jaws dropped because he did their hours of work in seconds.
"Come on, ascend quickly..." Muttering under his lips, he slashed the sword, and a massive sword aura appeared in the air slashing towards the beast.
*SLEESH* The sharp slash cleaved through one of its wings and it again screamed at the top of its lungs in agony.
*WOOOSSSH** However, at this time,a massive energy suddenly began to swirl around the heron\'s body pushing away dust and debris in all directions.
Huh? Feeling the pressure radiating from the beast\'s body, Jin Wei was taken aback and a mutter escaped her lips.
"It is.. ascending."
